  1. Sad to hear that she's battling this again. Hate to see these things happen.

  2. An absolutely disgusting move by Sinclair, especially after reassuring their employees that these cuts were "done". I guess they changed their minds after more bad financial news. Basically, if anyone from Sinclair reads this, and your station is poorly ranked, under-invested....GET OUT NOW!!!

  3. Let's not forget that the "from before (3K) " had been cut down and cut back due to Covid. I agree the severe 90-degree angles are awful - corners should have been rounded. I also don't like the gray used around the "4" on the anchor desk. I continue to believe the flagship station of the NBC Television Network deserves a more substantial and better-looking set!

  4. It's an upgrade from before and the larger than life peacock feathers on the wall are a nice visual, but....the space feels too narrow, those 90 degree angles continue to make it feel boxed in like the back of a retail storefront. WABC doesn't have much space, but they block their shots and angles so it all still feels 'big' in a way and makes the talent heroic - you rarely get a sense of the corners or ends of the studio during the newscast. Maybe stick to more close in shots and it's a great looking set. Leave some mystery for the viewer. Or maybe it's the tiny desk and lack of element between the desk and backdrop - if that were wider and further away the wide shots might have more breadth.

  5. FTVLive’s Scott Jones, who once worked at KTUL, had some choice words about the gutting of its news department. The headline of his article on it says it all.

  6. In a press release, Michael Corn, President of News at NewsNation, said, “NewsNation’s mission is to provide fair and unbiased news coverage, and that’s the way we will approach this important debate. We take this responsibility very seriously and are proud to help inform and educate voters and to contribute to the democratic process.” Dude gonna really sit there with a straight face and say “fair and unbiased coverage” with Megyn Kelly as a moderator.

  8. She is probably Derick Waller's replacement, as his last day was 10/3. He said it was all his decision, as after 6 years of getting up at 2am, he needed a change. Hope to see him at another station soon, as he is an excellent reporter. Lindsay was great at NY1; good pickup by WABC. Always love her New Year's Eve segments with her dad Gary Tuchman on CNN.

  9. So much of TV news is just political propaganda. It comes from either party operatives or their deep state sources. Maybe it was always this way, but it has never been more obvious that most of it is propaganda. I've completely tuned it out, which I probably shouldn't be doing, but what's the point of watching right-wing, deep state or left-wing Pravda on the tube anymore? It's just talking points repeated over and over again doing the whole Joseph Goebbels thing of repeating lies over and over again.

  10. Stacey Sager has been off the air while receiving treatment for breast cancer. Boy, she's been through a lot over the years. She'll start returning intermittently when she feels up to it, she recently posted.

  11. WWL-TV in New Orleans has dropped the long-standing “Eyewitness News” moniker for “WWL Louisiana”. So now it’s “WWL Louisiana News at XX”. Apparently a new tagline/positioner too? WWL-TV has in the past used “Louisiana’s News Leader” as a positioner, but “WWL Louisiana” just sounds weird to me. Any other Tegna stations trying something similar?

  12. But it is partially indicative on the state of local TV imo. Scripps is cost-cutting too, and Nexstar pays their employees horribly enough already. Granted, neither of those companies are doing anything as drastic as Sinclair, but I worry that this won’t be a Sinclair-only problem in the future.
