  1. I wouldn't even curse a Luken net with that disaster of a TV station; they still run everything in 480i 4:3 and are proud of their affiliation with AMGTV. Gray buying them would be like moving from a Super 8 to the Ritz-Carlton.

  2. I don't know if this belongs here, but it's kind of amusing. Lorene Wagner (former WSYX, WBNS) and her son Will. https://www.facebook.com/TheHetheringtonTeam/videos/3677872432238408/

  3. About the only reliable source of income newspapers have these days is public notices. Here in Maine there was a push to eliminate public notice advertising in newspapers, as newspaper circulation has fallen precipitously and government entities can publish public notices for free on their official websites or on Facebook or Twitter, but the newspaper lobby managed to nix that idea.

  4. Hollie has been there a loooong time ... and yet they still managed to spell her last name wrong in the L3. Gotta love that attention to detail.

  9. WTOL’s Dick Berry retires Sunday after 40 years: https://www.toledoblade.com/a-e/tv-radio/2019/09/27/after-four-decades-at-wtol-tv-toledo-reporter-dick-berry-retires-sunday/stories/20190928049 Candid interview and great perspective from an actual journalist. "The whole media business has become more corporate ... which is affecting how the news is covered, as well as the people you see entering the news business," he said. "A lot of them are not qualified to be in the news business. I just wonder how they got to be where they are.”

  10. KTVU may want to have a word re: the ratings, but that aside, SVN definitely ranks up there and absolutely is the model almost everything we know about FOX today is based off of - from FOX News Channel, to sports, to a lot of the older O&Os even. You could even say that about HDH to an extent--and they're still pulling in great numbers in Boston without a network affiliation. I suspect the Ansin family will sell when Ed dies and it will be to FOX - both in Miami and Boston. Would be really interesting to see if they're handled with kid gloves as an O&O.

  11. Wondering if and when Sarah will officially be named 5pm co-anchor. For most of the time Monica’s been gone, Sarah has anchored Monday through Thursday at noon and 5pm, while maintaining her Fridays off and continuing working Sunday evenings. Christie Ileto has been the most frequent sub for her on Fridays at noon and also doing the 5pm. I’d be shocked if anyone else gets the spot (as Sarah has been the fill-in 80% of the time). I hope they don’t continue her with this Sunday-Thursday schedule. Unless they’re going in a different direction, they need to give her the 5pm and make her schedule Monday-Friday. That way they can start testing co-anchors with Walter on weekend evenings!

  13. I don't know who is hiring or scheduling the on-air talent on WCBS, but it seems they have a look that they go for, especially for their female anchors other than Kristine, Dana and Cindy. The female anchors they choose look like plastic dolls with no sign of personality/chemistry at all: Alice Gainer, Jessica Moore, Alex Denis.
