I'd argue WVEC's largely been left out of the experiment--probably because they learned their lesson the one night they demoed a "different" 11PM newscast live (wish I could find that because it makes all the current experience on the air at the other stations look like 60 Minutes!)

Parts of WSLS's 11:00 news from May 16, 2000. By this point, Chris Clausen became the station's VO.

The graphics/animations themselves look pretty good for Nexstar. Probably one of the better packages they've put out lately.
But that color scheme is gross and looks like a PowerPoint 2007 template. Those two shades of blue do NOT work together.

I'll nominate this one from WCIV... that unnecessarily huge text. eek
It presumably replaced a fairly decent open with Ultra News... I don't know if there may have been another open with Overture prior to 2004/05

A pretty snazzy WNDU open, 1993:
Great open!
Maybe you should make a compilation of Cheers finale newscast opens

WBOC 1990 Sign off.
I guess we can officially merge the "WBOC Late 1980s News Theme" with Tuesday's "WNDU 1986 News Theme" on the NMSA... it's obviously the same package.
-
Finally, a proper WSLS open with the Park JDK theme... from March of 1989:

Vicki Gardner, the lone survivor of the 2015 shooting that happened live on-air while being interviewed by WDBJ, is suing the station.
The $6 million lawsuit claims the station was negligent in hiring Vester Flanagan, the shooter.
Gray Television was initially named as a defendant, but was nonsuited since they purchased WDBJ several months after the attack.

WAVY's 11pm newscast from Saturday, September 27, 2003. This tape is without a doubt one of my coolest finds - this newscast followed the three-hour special WAVY aired chronicling Hurricane Isabel. I plan to upload that eventually.

As much as I'd like to see how crazy the general public would go watching a similar situation go down in present day...
It wouldn't be as big of a deal. However, there would probably a lot of confused baby boomers.
On the other hand, if you take The Office off of Netflix... oh wait...

Some of my flea market finds from today... WTKR from March 1995! Probably the most that's been seen of the short-lived TV-3 News look.

From the WAVY archive... a 1981 report on the FCC filing for channel 43... 12 years before WVBT hit the air.

What even is this open?
That open looks fine... it’s not ugly and it gets the job done.

How can you tell the difference between Suzy Nelson and Keri Tombazian? I’ve been having trouble with that!
Keri's voice is a bit more sultry and enunciated. Suzy has a friendlier tone.
It wouldn't surprise me if some of the NMSA entries are mislabeled either. WRC sounds more like Suzy Nelson

A portion of a KING weekend newscast from 1999. Lots of other material on this channel.
I don’t remember seeing this set of KING graphics before... these must have been used for about a year, right before the former Providence Journal stations package.

WTOC open from 1997 with NewsChannel.
And a weekend talent open from the same station included in this report.
Do you have an idea of how long this series of opens was used? Did they have the 2000/2001 Raycom package? That’d be my guess.

That is from the AirCraft library, which the NMSA for some reason cites as Soundtrack. The AirCraft site also has the long cuts of the pieces from them.
The Visionary is on CD ACL-032 "Image Makers II". Other common tracks from this library are on ACL-011 "Image Makers", like The Leading Edge, News Breakers and Always a New Horizon.
ACL-040 has some political tracks that got used and have NMSA entries, and there are a couple of other 90s tracks I think saw some use in sports.
The AirCraft Library is part of Soundtrack Group.

I suppose they’ll be the Chet and Nat of Cincinnati.

The main difference, however, between the Dardis/Paolello relationship and that of the aforementioned Garland/Angela and Chet/Nat relationships, is that Dardis and Paolello each have children from previous marriages/relationships (info courtesy of the bios on the WLWT website). So there's that....
Or how about Vince Gerasole & Heidi Umbhau?
Look at how she looks over at him at :16. Awww.
They’re still married.
