Sad news out of Atlanta tonight. Dave Michaels, a longtime news anchor for 11Alive, CNN and other outlets died this month at 88 years old. His wife, Ann, contacted 11Alive on Friday and said he had passed away on Feb. 1 – after a long illness of Alzheimer's and congestive heart failure. He was at home in hospice care at the time he died. When KYW dropped EWN in '91, they were NewsDay (Morning), NewsBeat (Noon, 6pm), and The News Tonight (11pm) from 91-94 and then they were KYW News 3 from 94-98 and 3 brought back EWN in '98 and it stuck.

Sad news out of Birmingham. If you grew up watching WBRC-TV in the mornings, you remember Country Boy Eddie. Gordon Edward Burns "Country Boy Eddie" passed away yesterday at the age of 92. WEWS will still be (to me)... TV5 Eyewitness News and NewsChannel 5. Happy 75th Anniversary TV5.

I don't like the changes on KCBS & KCAL not one bit. The expansion, I'm alright with it (if the ratings are good). But KCAL CBS News Los Angeles... NO WAY! I wish the CBS (Television) News & Stations leaves the names as it is like CBS 2 News and KCAL 9 News. I would be alright for CBS 2 Morning News and KCAL 9 Morning News as well.
