I've mentioned on my last post two weeks ago that WEVV is relaunching its newscasts this fall. CBS44 already made the hires of their evening/late news, not the station has now hired new anchors for their morning and midday newscasts. Shelby Coates will anchor alongside Mellisa Schroeder, and Jackie Brown will be their meteorologist. Sad news out of South Florida, former WSVN and WPLG anchor/reporter Kelley Mitchell has died. Mitchell passed away at her home last night; the cause of death is unknown. More recently, Mitchell was an afternoon anchor at WLRN Radio until January of this year. After parting ways with the station, Mitchell filled in at WIOD Radio which put her back at the same station with 90's WSVN co-anchor Rick Sanchez. Mitchell survived by her husband Kirk Wade (WSVN Chief Photographer). Legendary Baltimore news anchor is stepping down. Rod Daniels of NBC station WBAL-TV is is saying goodbye to WBAL 11 News after more than 30 years on the air, Daniels will anchor his last 6:00 newscast two weeks from today. No word on who will succeed Daniels from the anchor desk. What's going to happen to KPLC, will they lose the NBC station?

It was 20 years ago today that Baltimore mourns the loss of one of the most popular anchors in B-Town, were talking about the late great Al Sanders. Al worked at WJZ from 1972 til' his death in 1995 of lung cancer. Al paired with his friend and colleague the late Jerry Turner from 1977 til' Jerry's death on New Year's Eve of 1987. Today we at TVNT honor Al Sanders for all his dedication and loyalty to television news and his contributions to the city of Baltimore. Godspeed Al.

As we reported not long ago, WEVV is relaunching its news department and now the station has hired new anchors for its evening newscasts. Amanda Decker, Formerly at INN in Little Rock, ARK. Chris Cerenelli, Formerly at WTVF/Nashville, TN. Chad Evans, the new chief meteorologist - Evans comes from WLFI/Lafayette, LA. Got a few updates courtesy of our friends at TVSpy. ABC 33/40 (WBMA) is making changes in news line up. ABC 33/40 has hired former KOCO anchor Wendell Edwards to its morning newscasts. Edwards will be join by Ebony hall and Sheri Falk. Weekend anchor Honora Gathings will be moved to the Midday news with co-anchor Linda Mays. And Sarah Snyder replaces Gathings as anchor of the weekend 6 & 10PM news, she'll continue reporting weekdays at 10PM. ABC22/FOX 45 Morning anchor Megan Mongillo was off the air for a while after being diagnosed with breast cancer. WFAA is losing a familiar face, Meteorologist Julie Bologna has left WFAA-TV (Or as Ed Bark calls it Gannett8). Bologna's last day was April 12th of last Sunday after three years working at News 8. KTVT CBS 11 has found its new morning and 11am anchor. Russ McCaskey of Tulsa's NBC 2 (KJRH) has been hired to replace Brendan Higgins and be paired with Karen Borta on CBS 11 News This Morning and CBS 11 News at 11AM.
