    • WJLA ABC 7 anchor Cynne Simpson named evening anchor for WAGA FOX 5 News at 5 & 10pm. Simpson replaces Amanda Davis who retired in April after extended leave of absence following a DUI arrest. Simpson will co-anchor at 5 p.m. alongside Tom Haynes and at 10 p.m. alongside Russ Spencer. Lisa Rayam, who currently anchors the 5 p.m. newscast, will shift to the 6 p.m. anchor desk alongside Spencer. She will continue to anchor the noon newscast solo.

     

    • Allen Schauffler, a 20-year veteran of KING-TV 5 is leaving the NBC affiliate in Seattle and, according Puget Sound Radio, is joining Al Jazeera America as a regional correspondent.

  1. NBC station WFLA Tampa is adding an hour-long newscast at 4-5 p.m. beginning Monday, Aug. 26. The station says it will be the only 4 p.m. news broadcast in the market.

     

    The new broadcast, First at 4, will feature original reporting, in-depth news, investigations and consumer reporting. WFLA’s Stacie Schaible will anchor First at 4, in addition to her 5:30 p.m. co-anchor duties.

  2. WXIX Scott Schneider was promoted to be Tricia Macke’s co-anchor. Schneider replaces Ben Swann, who left the station May 31. He was hired in April from WFMJ-TV in Youngstown, where he anchored mornings for 14 years. (Yes, that’s the same station where Fox 19 meteorologist Frank Marzullo worked before coming here; they’re good friends.) Schneider will anchor Sunday-Thursday with Macke, with Amy Wagner taking over as Friday-Saturday anchor this weekend.

    • Just one month on the air, Orlando's WFTV ABC 9 is expanding its 4:00pm Newscast by 30 minutes. In a statement, the station said the new newscast “provided an immediate ratings boost and laid the ground for big wins with key demographics during the June book.” The extended newscast displaces a 4:30 p.m. episode of “Family Fued.” WFTV says the game show will still air on the station at 10:30 a.m. and on sister station WRDQ at 7 and 7:30 p.m.

     

    • And three years after leaving WAVE 3, Meteorologist John Belski is coming back to WLKY 32. Belski began his career at CBS affiliate WLKY in 1979. He left for WAVE in 1987 and worked there until he left to “explore some new possibilities outside of the TV business” in 2010. “It’s great to be back at WLKY, where I started in Louisville years ago,” Belski said. “I’m excited to join Jay, Matt, Susanne and Jared doing what I love most, covering the weather and keeping people informed.”
       
       
       
       
       
       
       

    • The date is set for WFAA News 8 at 4:00pm: Monday, September 9th. Dallas ABC station replaces Katie for its 4pm newscast.
    • CBS 11/TXA 21 Meteorologist Garry Seith is no longer with station, Jeff Jamison is filling in on the weekday morning news until a replacement is found.

  4. As I mentioned before WFAA ABC 8 is adding a 4 p.m. Newscasts coming this fall, well we now know who will anchor News 8 at 4pm; Jason Wheeler who anchors the weekend newscasts will be moved to weekdays. Wheeler will solo anchor the station's new 4 p.m. weekday newscasts. With a likely September start date, WFAA8 will now be competing directly against one-hour 4 p.m. local newscasts on NBC5 and CBS11. Fox4 currently is airing a double dose of Judge Judy from 4 to 5 p.m.

  5. Cleveland's FOX8 WJW will debut its 4:00pm newscast beginning Monday. The show, which was announced for the Fall, will be anchored by Gabe Spiegel (formerly at WSYX ABC 6) and Meteorologist Melissa Mack. Mack came back on-air for WJW in May. She left the station in 2009 and began working at Boston’s WBZ in 2010.

  6. WFAA ABC 8 has just hired KBTV FOX 4 Beaumont anchor Brian Glenn to report during News 8 Daybreak and also contribute to soon-to-be News 8 at 4pm scheduled this fall.

    Glenn is scheduled to start at WFAA starting in mid-August.

    • Meteorologist Roland Steadham is coming home to South Florida joining WPLG Local 10, his first day on the air will be August 15th.
    • Antoinette Antonio has been named weekend co-anchor at Boston's WCVB ABC 5 along side Jim Lokay and Meteorologist Danielle Vollmar. Her first newscast is this weekend.

Important announcement: You might remember my YouTube Channel TexasTV, well yesterday; I accidentally deleted my YT account; in which also means the loss of full newscasts and game shows I uploaded in the past 6 1/2 years. The good news is that I have a new YT account: 1TexasTV. I'll re-upload full newscasts, promos and game shows in the first week of July, you have my word on it. See you in July.

  8. Despite with all the media company mergers including the Gannett/Belo merger, let's focus on the coming and goings in the media markets.

     

    • KTXS News 12 Managing Editor George Levesque moves to 10:00pm anchor along side Wayne McCormick, Braid Sharp (Blanks) will move from 10:00pm anchor to 5:00pm anchor, she'll continue to anchor the 6:00 news with McCormick. The station said she wanted to spend more time with her family.

     

    • Columbia's NBC Station WIS-TV and Cincinnati's CBS station WKRC-TV are both launching Sunday morning newscasts. WIS NBC 10's hour-long 10am newscasts will be anchored by Chelsea Washington and Meteorologist Tim Miller, while WKRC CBS 12 launching a hour-long newscasts at 8:00am and then again for a half-hour at 11:00am. Liz Bonis will anchor along side Meteorologist Josh Knight. WKRC's Sunday Morning newscast will launch July 7.

     

    • Mark Allen, anchor of CBS station WTHI in Terre Haute will be retiring on June 28th at 6:00pm, Mike Cleff (WLFI) will take Mark's place in the anchor desk.

  9. Big changes were made at the 7News anchor desk today, Reid Lamberty is out as anchor at Boston's 7 NBC. The primary anchor left Bulfinch Place after two years. After bouncing around various markets, Lamberty landed at 7 in 2011, co-anchoring the station’s weeknight newscasts alongside Kim Khazei. Lamberty’s bio has been stripped from the WHDH website, and no word on who will replace Lamberty as anchor.

  10. Orlando's WFTV 9 is now adding a 4pm newscast and will go head-to-head with NBC WESH 2. WFTV is sending Bob Opsahl and Martie Salt (Tucker) will anchor Channel 9 Eyewitness News at 4:00 starting June 10th. Family Feud starring Steve Harvey will seen at 4:30pm after EWN and Dr. Oz will be move to 3pm.

    WTLV/WJXX sprots anchor Dan Hicken is jumping ship to WTEV/WAWS as sports anchor/reporter. Hicken is now on a six-month non-complete clause, so he won't be back on the air 'til November. As Hicken joins CBS 47/FOX 30 Sports Team, Brent Martineau is promoted to Sports Director, effective immediately.

  11. Beaumont's ABC station KBMT is expanding its morning newscasts on the station's digital subchannel MYTX (Digital Channel 12.5/MyNetworkTV). The current morning newscast, currently

    anchored by Greg Picazo and Metoeorologist Jeff Gerber airs from 5-7am on 12ABC and K-JAC the NBC affiliate subchannel 12.2 The additional hour will air 7-8am on MYTX.

     

    Nick Krupke is joining Portland's KPTV FOX 12 as Sports Anchor/Reporter. Krupke spent 7 years at the CBS affiliate KVAL/Eugene, OR. Kurpke debuts at KPTV on June 24.

     

    Biloxi, MS FOX affiliate WXXV will launch local newscasts on its FOX station and on its NBC Subchannel this fall, WXXV GM bobby Edwards said that the station will have at 6 & 9pm newscasts,

    with a morning show potentially added at a later date. WXXV will hire 15 full-time employees and more part-time employees. Currently, the only local newscasts in the Biloxi-Gulfport market are

    on ABC station WLOX 13.

     

    And this just in courtesy of friends at TVSpy, Former KDAF and current WXIN anchor/reporter Walt Maciborski is returning to Austin as the new main anchor at CBS 42 KEYE. Its a return to

    Austin for Walt, who worked at ABC 24 KVUE from 1994 to 2000. He will co-anchor the 5, 6 & 10pm newscasts and be reunited with Judy Maggio, who worked at KVUE, beginning on June 24.
