  1. Can't wait for the Trump Golf Course Forecast followed by a rundown of severe weather warning areas drawn on maps with magic marker. In all seriousness, I wonder if this might move Accuweather to make their channel (if it still exists) an over-the-top streaming service, or if The Weather Channel will offer a more weather-focused version of Local Now. Also, can't think Weathernation's very happy about it. I liked The Weather Network out of Canada's streaming offering they had a while back - it had TWC-esque local forecasts and everything - but it just up and disappeared one day from their app.
  2. Phil Griffin leaving as head of MSNBC, to be replaced by Rashida Jones:
  3. It’s weird to say they don’t have a audio logo when the 3-note signature from the “It’s all here” days is still around. The new CBS News logo can be seen here: https://www.viacomcbspressexpress.com
  4. Sinclair must be asking the world for those RSNs.
  5. As of this morning, WVUE/New Orleans was still Raycom'd.
  6. WAFB/Baton Rouge has the same as the WTOC example as of Sunday night.
  7. Didn't the RSNs handle the MLB "Game of the Week" broadcasts for Fox and FS1? Would that continue?
  8. The jagged eye on some of those monitors looks ok but that regular one in motion rotating - woof, that looks cheap.
  9. In a move that makes zero sense, WWL-TV will start paid interview hour...err, I mean local lifestyle show Great Day Louisiana Monday 1/21 at 9 a.m., bumping Live with Kelly and Ryan to their sister station WUPL. Great Day Louisiana will follow similar shows on other TEGNA stations, based on the show demo reel that's just clips of other markets. I guess TEGNA decided they could drag WWL's morning ratings even lower.
  10. That's how it always happens - ESPN relaunches with a new uniform graphics package, then everything slowly drifts away.
  11. I'd be surprised if NewsWatch 15 shut down, because as mentioned above, it's nothing but replays of the last newscast. If they are still able to sell it, what's the reason to turn it off? Though it is still just SD-only - perhaps it's not worth the time/effort to make it HD or widescreen.
  12. My brain keeps wanting to add the red line that was on that logo.
  13. Logo tweak for WWL? This just popped on their social media accounts. No change on-air or on their website. Facebook: Twiitter: The main Twitter account originally had this, which I think looks a little better with the CBS Eye and the tagline underneath.
  14. WWL's done the L3 with an image on the right for some recent big stories (the French Quarter shooting, Nagin's sentence) and a new series of reports whose name escapes me at the moment, so it appears to be something that's part of the package, not a station going outside the lines.
  15. It's very rare for WWL to air that tag directly after the newscast. It's usually dumped somewhere in the following commercial break, sometimes in the one before the final segment. But it's been there since day one of Gannett taking over. I think the Belo tag jumped around too.
  16. After a few days with the Gannett graphics, I still like them (and WWL's getting a little more comfortable with them) but I do have some nitpicking. - The L3 for the teases and going to break needs a longer background. That white DIN text gets lost pretty easily once it gets past that point, especially when it's a sports tease that has video with a score bar at the bottom. - The monitors across the set need something else besides the new Eyewitness News logo. It's just plopped on a plain background and it looks lonely. Put some o'dem flying blocks behind it, or find another generic graphic so it's not the same thing on every monitor. - "This Is Home" remains pretty weak, or WWL's choosing the weakest cuts. Doesn't have any punch.
  17. 5pm cast is having a tough time with the new graphics. Couple of hiccups. I'm also not sure I like how the L3s id the person talking - that grey's a little muddy, though I am watching right now on SD.
  18. Thought it looked pretty good, but I can understand the complaints for the music.
  19. It'll be noon. Weather graphics are changing over: http://www.wwltv.com/weather/maps?radar=64217522&img=5&c=y
  20. Even when WWL's added the Eye, it wasn't used too much on air. Some examples can be found here: http://youtu.be/G69Z1aV6gqo?t=7m15s It usually would show up in print most, and maybe once during the news open when "The Spirit of Louisiana" was shown. If you squint at this promo from the late '90s, you can just make out the Eye on the sports guy's shirt: It's also popped up as an accent on their new set, including some unusual (at least in my opinion) CBS News endcaps on their main news desk.
  21. Honestly, when was the last time you heard that phrase uttered on channel 4? I haven't seen one promo with it in I don't know how long, it's not featured in the news open anymore....the only thing that uses anything "Spirit" are the "Spirit of Community" PSAs. If anything, they might keep "Louisiana's News Leader" around.
  22. I don't have a problem with AWYT going bye-bye. Never really warmed up to it as a quick replacement for the Stephen Arnold cuts.
  23. Looks like WWL is flipping next Wednesday, caught the tail end of a promo.
  24. Can't wait until this hits WWL. The KHOU package never looked good, except for what WWL used for Fourth Down on Four.
