Tom Koch is hanging is up.
After nearly four decades at KTRK, the longtime morning anchor announced his retirement this morning. He will anchor his final broadcast in May.
-
And to no surprise..... Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel is now the acting Chairwomen of the agency.
-
A local ministry in Montgomery will take over the former WSFA facility on Delano Avenue.
The station moved to the RSA Tower in downtown (within blocks from the State Capitol) last Spring.
-
If any of you missed it, KCDO is back as an indie station. Grit moved to 3.2.
-
It's going to be a long wait before we see those Katz Nets to the Ion spectrum.
The Univision carriage deal of the nets doesn't end until 2024.
-
-
Just a couple months after the sale closed, KMGH has relaunched KCDO as "Local 3".
- Syndie shows include Right This Minute, The List, Family Feud and secondary airings of Tamron Hall & Kelly Clarkson during the evening hours.
- It will have an extended morning news from 7-9am and a "special" 1pm broadcasts.

Slowly, but surely, the new graphics are creeping into the pre-Raycom outlets.
Valley News Live (KVLY/KXJB) have the same graphic pack its sister station down I-29 have (KSFY/KDLT).

Ok, I gotta ask , what about MeTV on WSYM FOX47.2 in Lansing,Michigan will that stay or go to gray's WILX TV 10.5 [presently antenna TV]
Not sure when that contract expires. But as of now, WSYM is still the MeTV affiliate in Lansing.
-
Another Nexstar outlet drops MeTV for Antenna TV. And this is complete swap in Springfield, MO.
Gray's KSPR will carry MeTV on 33.3. It replaces Nexstar's KRBK 49.2, which will carry its own Antenna TV in its place.

How much did this cost Nexstar? I am not seeing a price tag in the press releases.
From this link:
QuoteThe option price is $75 million plus accrued interest, which will be calculated between the Sept. 19, 2019, purchase date of WPIX by Scripps and the option sale closing date.
-
....And along with WPIX (which we already mentioned), the Weigel acquisition was also finalized.
No telling when they'll move the networks over to the new stations.
-
Scripps has announced the completion of the sale of WPIX to Mission today.
The Lighthouse only held the station for 468 days.

In the last few Christmases I remember, they wouldn't even do a Christmas morning broadcast. So I'm surprised they did one today.

The FCC greenlighted the WLII deal to Liberman on Thursday (12/10).
This means that Univision acquisition by Searchlight Capital & ForgeLight Investors should be approved soon.
And here's it is. The FCC just greenlighted the Univision transaction.

KMGH didn't move frequencies. KMGH's main signal is still on RF 7. And of course their translator KZCO-LD (RF 30).
But since Scripps bought KCDO & KSBS, they have added the 7.1 feed on KCDO (RF 23) & KSBS-CD (RF 19).
But staying on topic, it appears that KWGN (RF 34) is the ATSC 3 test station carrying KWGN, KDVR, KMGH & KUSA main feeds.
This explains why the ATSC 1 feed of KWGN is now on RF 36 (KDVR's RF ch.)

Welcome to the DFW and Houston market, Weigel Broadcasting.
It has yet to be finalized. But it's pretty much a forgone conclusion...... -

How is this still an issue, since News Corporation is a separate company from "New Fox?" Is it the fact that the Murdoch family is still involved in both?
Or is it tied to WWOR's license in Secaucus and the un-doing by Fox of it's New Jersey focus and operations?
No it has nothing to do with the WWOR's NJ License.
Even though "New Fox" & "News Corp." are two separate companies, both are still controlled by the Murdochs.
When Pai eliminated the Newspaper-Broadcast Cross-Ownership (NBCO) rule (part of that dereg rule he had in 2017), the Murdochs didn't need to ask for a waiver. But when the Third Circuit vacated & remand Pai's dereg measure in the fall of 2019, it reinstated the NBCO rule, thus them asking for a permanent waiver this time.
Even though it already had a permanent waiver to keep the Post & WNYW (since 1993), it didn't have one for The Post & WWOR, even though it granted them temporary waivers on three occasions (2001, 2006 & 2014).
I guess the reason why they gave them this temp waiver this time, they're basically saying lets wait until the outcome of the media ownership case in the Supreme Court. So for example, if SCOTUS rule that the NBCO stays, then the temporary waiver will stay active for 180 days after ruling. If its the other way around and they rule NBCO no longer needed, then the Murdochs would keep Fox 5, My 9 & the Post.
Pai could've easily granted them a permanent waiver. But I think he's banking on a Republican-controlled SCOTUS to rule in their favor so the court can put an end to the NBCO once and for all.

Retransmission Consent squabbles
in General TV

This is truly sad. Hours before the Big Game, WINK-TV is blacked out on Dish Network.
