I also noticed (on the same show) that they also didn't use the bumper music on the first three commercial breaks. But at the end of the sports segment, the bumper music was used. I remember many years ago, the station didn't use the bumper music for the 5pm hour (not sure if that practice continued or not). In regards to the time/temp bug, I'm hoping that it was a technical issue (because I've seen that bug without it before, and then minutes later the time/temp returns) and hope that's not a common occurance. I know several other stations (especially the Cox TV stations) omit using the time (and/or) temp bug, fearing viewers might look at the time and then turn off the TV because its late. I just find it weird to not use time for the late, and use it at all other times.

Changes are happening at WWL. Longtime anchor Eric Paulsen will be leaving the noon show. He will continue to anchor the Eyewitness Morning News. His replacement at noon will be main anchor Thanh Troung. Because of this, Troung will no longer anchor the 10pm broadcast.
-
He actually made his on-air debut yesterday. He is no stranger to the Alphabet though. As he was a freelance reporter for ABC News before he left and went to WSVN in 2011.

So it looks like all the Gray outlets will soon be carried on both NewsOn & Syncbak. Just recently, they've added the former Raycom outlets to Syncbak. WOIO was the first. They've recently added WBTV, WTOC, WAFB, along with separate streams from Gray's DC Bureau & Investigative unit.

My question is how would the OTA viewers in Presque Isle proper can see the new signal, which is in the extreme northern tip of Aroostook County. Unless they carry the NBC stream on WAGM 8.4. I'm kind of shocked that they haven't start a new LP on the same stick as WAGM's.

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
CircleSeven replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
And the process begins.... We don't know what the end result to all of this. Whether they'll get a hefty fine, or lose its licenses, etc., that's too early to tell. But I wouldn't be surprised if this would open up a brand new hearing, since the Media Bureau is now probing this matter. And it's great to start the process now because remember, next year 2020, Sinclair's crown jewels (WBFF & WJLA) are up for license renewals. Here's the full letter from the FCC. With the list of info & documents the Commission is requesting (p.3-4 on the PDF). Some of the info they're asking for from Sinclair: And it goes on to asking Sinclair for any documents that they haven't already submitted, like other agreements, loan guarantee, etc. Sinclair has until July 9 to respond to this inquiry. -
I find this kind of odd. Madison's ABC station WKOW is launching a midday broadcast at 11am, starting this Monday. Here's the odd part, the newscast will be 15 minutes at length. At 11:15am, it will air a 15-minute local lifestyle program called Midday Madison. Wouldn't it been wise to at least have these both shows a half-hour at length each? We know Millionaire (which is moving from 11 to 11:30am) is going away in the fall. Since it's airing repeats, they could've moved the show to an overnight slot until the end of the run.

I'm a bit surprised the Gray hasn't snagged WVNC-LD from SagamoreHill in that other United TV market (Watertown).

She isn't traveling that far.......

That was quick. The FCC has greenlighted the BCB sale to Allen yesterday (6/17).

New M&A tonight. Weigel is making another purchase. They're buying Glenwood Springs, CO's KREG-TV from Marquee Broadcasting for $2M. This was the former satellite of Grand Junction's CBS station KREX-TV. During Gray's acquisition of the station's former owner, Hoak in 2014, Gray decided to keep its incumbent NBC outlet KKCO, and spin-off KREX (and its satellites) to Nexstar. Nexstar spun-off satellite KREG in 2017 to Marquee to alleviate national cap space after its purchase of Media General.

No surprise. An article from the NY Post this past March, stated that CBS was going to make $100M in synergies. Despite this, I don't think the heavy exodus of folks have accumulated to that amount, And before its all over, I believe there's going to be more cuts. .

Wow. Gray keeps on snatching these CW affils away from these indie broadcasters (i.e. in Madison (WBUW), Fargo (WDAY) & Alexandria (KBCA)) I'm still surprised that the network allowed them to move the affiliation in Midland (KWES > KOSA) after the Raycom deal. I guess its all about the all mighty dollar. Oh, and scale too.

A couple of notes from NOLA. It seems that it has found Natalie's replacement for the WWL's late news. WXIX 19's AM Anchor Charisse Gibson will become the new primary anchor of WWL's 10pm broadcast, beginning in June. Meanwhile, over at WDSU, its weekend anchor Juliana Massa is leaving that station at the end of next week. She's moving to Boston to become an anchor/reporter at WHDH.

Gray is purchasing another LP again. This time in Laredo (KXNU-LD) for $40K. Wouldn't be surprised if they place the ABC stream (currently on KGNS 8.2) on this stick.

ABC 7 Eyewitness News thread
CircleSeven replied to bogusabc7breakingnews's topic in Los Angeles News
The station is about to have a new face soon. Not sure if she's going to be a full replacement of Christina Salvo's Weekend AM slot or fill one of the weekday slots (11am for example). Still surprised they haven't filled an in-studio traffic anchor since Alysha del Valle left for Channel 4. -
This is a shame. WESH 2 Sports Anchor Pat Clarke is leaving in June after 16 years at the station,

Paperwork for KEYU-FM is up. Alpha is paying $250K for the station. And it will have new call letters either at or sometime after closing.

She'll be anchoring the 10pm show there in October.
