  1. Channel 9 aired its final Cubs home game from Wrigley earlier today. There are two more broadcasts left, with the final one from St. Louis is this Friday (9/27).
  2. Looks like a deal has been reached "in principle" between AT&T & Disney.
  3. Uncle Perry also said that if someone was willing to give him an offer he wouldn't refuse, he would sell WGN Radio and WGN America in a hot second, since it's a non-core asset for him. That's why he kept Compton in to run those assets. So if it does get sold, Sook wouldn't have to deal with him after that. I strongly don't think he'll keep WGNA & 720 in long haul. I also don't think he'll keep ownership of the diginets (Antenna TV & This TV) long-term either. He has long said that he's not interested in anything national. He's only for local. And despite some stations dropping the channel (or are in the process of doing so), I wish Weigel would repurchase This TV. In regards to airing a fraction of local games over-the-air, I wouldn't say Sook can't ink a deal. And I know it'll have a drawback for some folks who don't have cable and rely on watching the games OTA. But I don't think that would be enough to bring back some games to regular TV. And I believe we have pretty strong cable rate in this market. You know, strange things have happen. But I'm with most of you. After next week, I don't think we'll see another local game OTA for the forseeable future.
  4. Follow up from above, as the season (and the station's time with the Cubs) is about to end.
  5. Looks like WFLA is also dropping MeTV as well. It's going to Hearst's WMOR. No word from Channel 8 on what will occupy that 8.2 allotment. I'm surprised Nexstar didn't drop MeTV in Vegas (KLAS).........
  6. WFAA is celebrating 70 years on the air.
  7. Nexstar is also dropping MeTV on Nashville's WKRN 2.2. They're replacing it for Bounce TV. With MeTV moving to HC2-owned WJFB 44.1. WCMH is replacing MeTV for CourtTV.
  8. Meredith & Dish has reached a new retrans deal, two months after blackout.
  9. Where's is this new logo? Let me see it..
  10. I don't think this was mentioned on this thread (you can correct me if I'm wrong). But I want to know who composed this theme. This is from WTTV in the mid-80s. Vid courtesy of kyndel hewitt from YT Is this theme based on its station promo "4 The Good Times"? Listen closely. Vid courtesy of TheClassicSports from YT. Vid courtesy of Chuck D's Classic TV Playhouse's YT page.
  11. Sounds like changes are ahead on the morning show.
  12. We have a brand new carriage dispute. And this is a big one. AT&T/DirecTV and Disney/ABC. That's not just the eight ABC O&Os, but all of the Disney & ESPN networks as well. Now they didn't mention when they'll probably pull the networks off of the AT&T/DirecTV platforms. KGO posted this message about the dispute on its Facebook wall.
  13. Damn. Two former Fox 5-ers anchoring mornings Channel 9 (along with Annie Yu).
  14. WBTV implemented the new Gray graphics last night.
  15. A small M&A. Remember KGBY? That was the former KJCT when the station was on its full-power signal, before Gray (owner of KKCO) sold the station to a minority-owner broadcaster back in 2014. Now that broadcaster is selling the station. Chang Media Group is selling KGBY to Ventura Media Communications for $375K. Ventura Media also owns stations in Fresno, CA and Idaho Falls, ID. That includes KVUI (which was the former Fox affiliate KFXP, prior to 2011).
  16. Agreed. The Mike Davis discussion is moved to this thread.
  17. And here's the website of Greta's new show. Which looks like a modification to Raycom station's website, with a font change.
  18. On the TVPassport guide, it says "The Noon Show". Not sure if its news or a local program. I didn't see any releases on the website or on their Facebook wall about it.
  19. Longtime Fox 32 reporter Larry Yellen announced that he is retiring at the end of the month after 25 years at the station. Although he's leaving the station full-time, he might show up periodically as expert contributor.
  20. Another big Tegna departure. Longtime KPNX sports director Bruce Cooper announced that he is retiring from the big 12 next August, after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
  21. So just like the Gray stations, the Nexstar outlets will be playing the national anthem beginning on Labor Day.
  22. There's going to be a new addition to the Channel 7 morning team. Feder stated that she'll be starting on September 30. She comes from KXAS in Fort Worth, TX.
  23. Gray has renewed its Fox affiliation in all 21 markets.
  24. I think I understand why the 7pm show is on WPXT. ABC is probably going to air another pre-game show at 7pm in between the end of the 3:30pm college football game and Saturday Night Football, in which this year, all the games will air at 7:30pm (instead of 8pm). The good thing about that 7:30 start time, is that local stations in the eastern half of the country can finally (for the most part) get their late show in on time, instead of waiting to close to midnight on some weeks.
