Another new Telemundo affiliate is about to launch this summer. Cox's WSOC 9 is launching Telemundo Charlotte on its subchannel 9.2 on June 1st. Laff is moving to WAXN 64.4. The Observer said that it wants to add a newscast on the subchannel in the future, but wants to conduct research first.

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
CircleSeven replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
Actually, they're only on at 6:30am in the morning. SIX THIRTY. That's it. Are we back to 1988? -
New Nexstar appointment. Former KTTV ND Bill Mondora will be the Bureau Chief of Nexstar's DC Bureau.
-
Another Tegna Depature. WTSP's Investigative Reporter Mike Deeson has left the station.

From that Town Hall vid, I think Sook said that he liked the LIN DIgital ones better. But I'm not sure if the legacy Nexstar is going to use that MG template or it might be a completely new template for all of their stations. We'll just have to wait and see. _______________ Looks like the first order of business under the combined entity is to have all of its stations with one "unified" licensee name. Nexstar has filed a slew of 316 pro-forma applications to change all those various MG licensee names (Media General Communications Holdings, LIN Television Corporation, Young Broadcasting of Richmond, etc; 25 in all) to (No surprise) Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc.

Here's Nexstar's 12th GM appointment since the MG deal ended. Former WFXS Wausau GM Robert Raff has been appointed as new VP & GM of Tokepa station KSNT (and its in-market sisters).
-
That's a damn shame. I guess no one should be surprised by this outcome, but this is pitiful nevertheless. Sad. #TooMuchNews

Longtime anchor of the Nightly Business Report Paul Kangas passed away on Tuesday, at the age of 79. Will always remember him for his signature sign-off at the end of the broadcast. Video courtesy of lakesidepark2112 from YT EDIT 3/2/17: He're a full write-up obit from the Herald.

It's extremely bland at best. MG (LIN specifically) has several spectrum guzzlers in the Hampton Roads, Grand Rapids, and Austin, with all those Class As.

Okay. So remember the Gray/Hoak deal from November 2013, and Gray spun-off the Hoak outlets in Panama City & Grand Junction to Nexstar? The Grand Junction one included a pre-1996 LMA with now Parker Broadcasting owned KFQX, which was supposed to be sold to Mission. Because of Wheeler's "JSA Guidance" scrutinizing station sharing deals, it was never greenlighted under his leadership. But Parker didn't dismissed the application. They just let it sit. Fast forward to three years later (now under Pai), it has now been greenlighted as of Monday (2/27). Parker can finally close its books. EDIT: Cunningham Broadcasting has made similar deals (around that same timeframe) in Reno (KRNV/KENV) & Portand (WPFO), which is still sitting. Could those could finally see the greenlight too?

Another Tegna Departure. Longtime WWL's Action reporter Bill Capo will be leaving the station on Friday after 36 years. And from FTVLive this morning, WUSA's morning reporter Nikki Burdine is heading to Nexstar's WKRN in Nashville, where she'll be a new anchor.

They're going to add Sinclair's new action-themed diginet Charge! on that allotment. Wouldn't be surprised if Fox gets MeTV, since it already carries its other networks on WDCA. Fox also carries MeTV on Austin's KTBC 7.4.

No. The KLAS/WTVF desk here is legit. No knockoff about it. It's the mashup in between the two (you mentioned) is what's typical for Nexstar.
-
You're not missing anything. Other than the desk, its your typical Nexstar set.
-
So NPG's flagship TV properties in St. Joseph includes Fox, The CW, Telemundo & NBC. Come June 1st, they'll be adding CBS.
-
Might as well appoint a new GM there. They already replaced eleven GMs since the MG deal ended.
-
FTVLive mentioned earlier this week that KOIN 6 in Portland could be doing away with its weekend morning newscasts. Not too sure if this is going to stick, but a good chunk of the legacy Nexstar outlets don't do them. And if it does stick, could this happen to the other MG stations? Oh and while we're at it, nearly one month after the MG deal ended, I'm surprised that Nexstar hasn't grounded any BIRDS at the MG stations yet. You know what I'm talking about.

The KCNC's guide says that Rachael Ray is aired at 9am.

We don't know if they're keeping VHF 10 post-repack or not. We will know eventually when the FCC releases the new post-repack allotments after the assigment phase of the forward auction concludes. Eventually most stations are going to move anyway. As a heads up, the FCC mailed the broadcasters a confidential letter, stating which new allotment the station(s) are moving to, so they could get a headstart in their repacking plans. I doubt these stations are going to say which RF channel they're moving to, only to further confuse the public. Only one station I've seen announced its post-repack channel and that was WBGU (RF 22).

I know Live goes live at 9am/ET. I should've clarified more, "one hour later than most stations in the central time zone". That's what I meant when I said one hour delay on that. I doubt any of the central stations air Live at the early hour of 8am.

Can't believe they're switching in the middle of the sweep period (the books is halfway done). Maybe 9 is worried about the shift in ratings because of 6's LMAD move, so there doing this out of desperation? And why they didn't put Harvey on at 3pm in the first place? I'm not a fan of moving LMAD to 3pm, because that breaks the Game Show block with Price at 11am. But in the areas west of the eastern time zone (unless that station airs it after CTM at 9am), you don't really have a choice. You're stuck airing it after The Talk at 2pm. _______________ Unrelated to this, there a big shift coming for one San Antonio station. On Monday, March 27, KSAT 12 will be adding a new (Ugh!) 9am newscast. They're shifting Live with Kelly & The View to 10 & 11am, respectively. The Chew (which aired at 11am, on a 23-hour delay, like WFAA currently does) moves to 2pm (airing same-day shows; albeit on a two-hour delay). General Hospital (which was already airing on an hour delay at 2pm) moves to 3pm. The station says this was the "original" timeslot for GH on Channel 12 (I wonder how long they'd aired it on that timeslot). T.D. Jakes (which currently airs at 3pm) will be off the daytime schedule. No word if will be placed in the overnight periods or if it would be completely off the schedule. I thought this was a Tegna show. KENS 5 couldn't clear it on their air? 9am - KSAT 12 News Good Morning San Antonio @ 9am 10am - Live With Kelly (might as well say 1 hour delay, even though its not a network show) 11am - The View (1 hour delay) 12pm - KSAT 12 News @ Noon 1pm - SA Live 2pm - The Chew (2 hour delay) 3pm - General Hospital (2 hour delay) 4pm - Inside Edition 4:30pm - Entertainment Tonight 5pm - KSAT 12 News @ 5pm 5:30pm - ABC's World News Tonight 6pm - KSAT 12 6 O'Clock News (Full Hour) Also to point out is that they air Jimmy Kimmel at 11:05pm (instead of 10:35pm) because its 10pm broadcast is 65 minutes at length each weeknight. I'm sure ABC is loving KSAT 12 airing its entire daytime lineup completely out-of-pattern. But I guess since they're the top station in the market, I guess the network has no problem with this new lineup.

More Spectrum Auction News: One of the spectrum-guzzling broadcasters, Univision announced in its Q4 earnings report that they'll receive $376M in proceed from the auction. Still waiting of what TBN & Ion got. In what could be a big surprise, a FORWARD auction bidder revealed how much they bought in the auction. In a filing to the SEC, U.S. Cellular made $327M in bids in the clock phase of the auction (it could get more in the assigment phase, which will start 3/6). Even though the FCC lifted the quiet period for the broadcasters, the wireless carriers (as of now) are still under the quiet period. Howard University owned-WHUT, withdrew from selling its spectrum in the auction. This is also a first, as this broadcaster announced its channel number for its post-repack. Bowling Green State University's WBGU in Ohio announced it is moving from RF 27 to RF 22. The station also withdrew from participating in the auction. Sonoma County, CA PBS outlet KRCB will receive $72 million in the auction. The station will move to the VHF dial. The station said it will use the proceeds to buy equipment for the repack, and the remaining of it to start an endowment. And PBS station WVTA in Vermont will receive $56M in the auction. It has said it will "re-engineer" its three remaining PBS outlets in the state to fill-in the gap lost from WVTA.

The owners of former CW affiliate WGSA in Savannah, GA, has now filed for Chapter 11.

Th sale fell through after Wheeler issued that "JSA Guidance" srutinizing deals with sharing arrangements. And this was before the JSA attribution rule came about. Because of the "Guidance", they figured that the deal wouldn't get the greenlight, so they backed out. -
Sad news. Condolences to her family.
