  1. Actually, the longest running anchor team in San Diego (not just mornings). I think Dan and Nichelle have been paired together for over 10 years.

I do wonder if they were not going to renew him, and he just decided to leave seeing as his start date at CW6 is only a few weeks away. Still, this move is very surprising. I am not sold on Greg yet. He still is not ready to take over as an anchor, plus they can't afford to slide down more in the ratings... KNSD has a history of going both ways when it comes to filling anchor vacancies. They hired from outside to fill Marty Levin's spot, and Bill Menish was replaced in-house by Jason Austell. I do think this time around, they'll get someone from the outside.

It seems they are going in house. I just saw a promo featuring Greg Bledsoe and Marianne Kushi for News Today.

  2. Lynda Martin is going back to XETV to fill the morning seat vacated by Heather Myers. A seat that Lynda held before Heather Myers. This makes it the third time around at XETV for Lynda.

    Also, there's this to add:

Kinda out of left field. Seems they're trying just anything at this point. We'll see how this goes.

  3. Are any more CBS O&Os doing it besides those 3?

Though it's not an O&O, KFMB has also been using that Super Bowl logo. Their bug toggles between their 8 and the Super Bowl logo.

  4. So a few updates:

*Kimi mentioned on her Twitter that she is/was training the new weather lady/girl. No word yet on when she officially starts.

*Heather Myers starts at KFMB on Dec. 28th, according to her former co-anchor Marc Bailey.

No sign of Heather this morning. At least when I tuned in at 430. Jeff Zevely was doing weather.

  5. KGTV Midday Open and Report (1994-1998)

Also a KGTV Midday Close (1994-1998)

I think this was KGTV's best theme and branding to date.

Also, here is an open from 2000 when they were using the Liquid Blade production music:

And here is some behind the scenes video from KGTV in 2000:

I wish I could find video of the theme KGTV was using from 1998-2000 when they used the slogan "People Make the Difference." That also was a top one for me for KGTV. If anyone has it, please post. Thanks!

  6. During Gannett run {pre-TEGNA & BELO} has a thing for many of their stations having a 7:00 news vs. a 4pm show. I know Phoenix has a locally produce show and evening news but with WKYC, WLTX, WJXX, WUSA {&formally WXIA did as too} produce a 7pm show.

Now Scripps has some stations Detroit, Indy, now Cincinnati with 7pm news. Surprise WMAR, WFTS, & WEWS didn't get into the 7pm local news race.

KGTV as well, though they had their 7 PM broadcast prior to Scripps buying them.

  7. If it's going to be a hard news format it should end up being similar to WXYZ's...

It's definitely a hard news format. I didn't find the show horrible. The talent is definitely still getting used to their roles on the show. They had Ann State running all over the place, sometimes uncertain the direction she should be taking. This is definitely a more casual show. I did like the colors (turquoise and orange) they were using to light the panels in the studio, giving the studio a different look

  8. Was Evans a freelancer all these years?

Or is she now a freelamcer?

I don't think she was a Freelancer there since she did have a bio on their site.

  9. She hasn't left. Natasha is on maternity leave and Kimi is taking her place temporarily. The job posting a few weeks ago mentioned that they were looking for a temporary weather anchor for the morning show. This is not to say that Natasha won't/can't decide later on to leave the station, but for now she is on maternity leave.

So who has taken Kimi's place on XETV?

  10. Haggerty is still listed on their website. Maria went to KSWB, Mitch left for WCAU in Philadelphia and don't know about Hannah. KGTV seems to clean house every few months.

Looks like Maria will be on today at 4, 5, and 6. Probably reporting.

  11. Not sure when this happened but Robert Santos of KGTV has transitioned from weekday morning weather anchor to weekend morning anchor and weekday reporter. Megan Parry has taken his weekday morning spot.

  12. I didn't realize this, but Bridget Naso has joined KNSD as the replacement for military reporter Leah Sutton who left last October. She probably will also be used as a fill in anchor since it is mentioned in her bio that she is an Emmy award winning anchor and reporter.

  13. Looks like Janet Zappala is no longer with XETV. She was anchoring the 10pm newscast shortly before November sweeps began and her bio was put up on SD6's website just a few weeks ago. Now it looks like she's gone. Very surprising to say the least, i'm curious to know what led to her departure.

Yeah, very weird. It was almost like they hired her just for sweeps to see if she would work out.

  14.

KUSI must have very desperate to take him back. Let's see how long this stint lasts. I'm not sure where Alexis winds up, she gave no indication that she was staying- or going. Either way, she'd would make a nice addition to KSWB. Speaking of which, it's interesting that Paul did not say that Susan had the night off, both yesterday and today. It may just be me, but the timing of her absence sure is coincidental to Dan Plante's resurfacing at KUSI.

Well it seems there is a new weekday anchor at KSWB, Andrew Luria. So I guess Walter is going back to weekends.
  15. It seems that Monica Dean is filling the vacant anchor position left open at KNSD by Christine Haas. It appears she will only anchor at 4p and 5p while the morning team will cover the 11a.

  16. Maria Arcega-Dunn has landed back in San Diego at KGTV as an anchor/reporter. She most likely is replacing Chris Murphy, who is heading to Philly, on weekend mornings. She most recently was in Seattle on KCPQ.

  17. KCBS will move LMAD to 9am as well. KPIX is already airing it at 9am (unsure when it moved into that time slot). Could be a CBS mandate to have the show air at that time.

It makes sense to build a game show block with LMAD and Price is Right. It always seemed weird how the shows were aired here in San Diego.

  18. Back to San Diego, lots of moving and shaking with syndicated tv shows in the market.

KGTV 10 (ABC): has picked up LIVE with Kelly and Michael, it will air at 9am after GMA starting 9/2. The show moves over from KFMB 8 (CBS) were it has aired for the past two years. Also, Right This Minute, which currently airs at 9am will move to 4pm also on 9/2 and occupy the slot being occupied by Katie. No word on what happens to the Katie show, if it has been dropped or moved to another timeslot.

KFMB is moving Let's Make a Deal into the former Kelly and Michael slot at 9a. Not sure what is moving into the 2p slot left vacant.
  19. It looks like Christine Haas is out at KNSD. The midday news was anchored by Jason Austell and Marianne Kushi with no mention of Christine. The 4pm is being anchored by Mari Payton and Catherine Garcia with no mention of Christine. Her bio is not on the station's website.

  20. I think most people who watched KTLA in the 90's felt the same way too. I didn't really care much for the newscast in the 1980's, seeing as how KABC sucked the competition dry, but Hal and Jan and later Terry and Lynette were the team to watch.

I agree, but it's wierd how no one has any clips from the "Flashpoint" era. I think that package is one of my all time favorites.
