To be clear, Bally's Corporation is not bankrupt. Diamond Sports is bankrupt. They were just a licensee of the Bally brand name. I wouldn't be surprised if Bally wanted to revoke that license at some point.

I'm guessing any major renovation plans will wait until Good Karma vacates and frees up all that space at Radio City. Edit: when is that happening, anyway? That was originally announced as being late in 2021, then "later in 2022" - how long does it take to build out an office space for GKB?

The comic strip Doonesbury made fun of this all the way back on Sept. 20, 2015: https://www.gocomics.com/doonesbury/2015/09/20

You're right, you HAVE been aggressively and excessively negative on NewsNation since before it premiered. Which makes one wonder if there is some ulterior motivation behind your vitriolic rants in this thread. Whatever, your contributions in this thread have reached near parodic levels at this point.... suggesting that one singular program is literally the only program that could "save" the nascent news network is beyond ridiculous.

WTMJ-TV's Vince Vitrano (Weekday AM anchor) will be going down the hall to WTMJ-AM to replace Gene Mueller as co-host of "Wisconsin's Morning News." https://onmilwaukee.com/articles/vince-vitrano-move WTMJ-TV and WTMJ-AM were previously co-owned by Journal Communications. WTMJ-TV is now owned by Scripps, while WTMJ-AM is owned by Good Karma Brands. Both are presently co-housed at "Radio City" on Capitol Drive in Milwaukee, but AM will be moving out mid-2022 to a new studio being built in downtown Milwaukee.

NewsNation snags Adrienne Bankert from ABC: https://deadline.com/2021/04/former-abc-news-correspondent-adrienne-bankert-joins-newsnation-1234740011/

I still run into people that think FOX and/or FOX News are owned by Disney. They heard about Disney buying 20th Century, and didn't realize that the purchase excluded FOX and FOX News.

It should be fairly easy for them to just program in a slight vertical squeeze, a vertical shift up, or a combination of both for the Bally Sports feeds to get them to fit in above the ticker. They'll fix it, they probably just didn't get a heads-up on the graphics redesign to know that they'd have to do that.

Correct, this is the "Brewers Live" (pregame/postgame) team of Craig Coshun on the left, and Tim Dillard (new to the team) on the right.

Too much sound effects. That's all I hear, I barely hear any music. If that's what they use for all the regions for the NBA theme, it'll be a major downgrade from the FOX Sports NBA theme.

Unless I'm misreading it, Bally Sports North Extra is not really a channel... it's just a way to brand the programming when they're being carried on broadcast TV.
-
It could also be contractual; HSN and QVC could possibly have long-term carriage contracts with less than favorable termination clauses. (But more than likely, you're probably right, it was a financial decision.)

Aren't there a ton of spaces at Radio City that have been barely (if at all) renovated, some since the building was built? I've seen pictures that look like early era radio studios that have been just repurposed to hold equipment or serve as storage rooms. It's a shame that Radio City is losing the radio folks, but it does seem like an opportunity for a major renovation/revitalization (if Scripps wants to spend the money on it).

Did the Brewers really have a viable option other than Sinclair/Bally Sports? The only OTA broadcaster who I think might have been interested would have been Weigel (they probably would have been thrilled to put the Brewers on WMLW), but I don't think they had the money to outbid Sinclair, nor the resources to actually produce Brewers games on an ongoing basis. As far as cable channels, there isn't really an alternative to the RSNs, and Bally Sports is the only one in this area.

While watching NFL on FOX (on WITI Milwaukee), I have noticed *way* more promos for FOX News Channel than I ever remember seeing before. I don't know if it's just that they've started placing national ad spots when they haven't before... if these are local ad inserts that FNC is doing now that WITI is an O&O... or if they always did ad spots, but the ads had been previously "overridden" by some other local ad insert prior to WITI becoming an O&O. I don't really watch WITI much for news, but between the simulcast of FNC mentioned above and the increase in advertising from FNC, I am extremely nervous about the potential of FOX News corporate exerting editorial control over WITI's local news product now that they're an O&O.

I have thoughts about what Dan O'Donnell and the rest of the WISN lineup can do... I'll let you use your imagination as to what. IMO, they're all repugnant.
-
I see that they migrated WITI over to the Fox web publishing platform. Looks like according to archive.org, it seems to have happened on July 30. (Still using the "Fox6Now.com" domain.)

ABC does seem to love the LED lit doorways...

I personally think that Fox should continue an affiliate agreement with Sinclair, allowing them to continue operating the RSNs as Fox Sports <region>. It gives Fox best of both worlds; they don't have to keep the RSNs on the books, but they get the advantages of still having the RSNs operated as if they were. Sinclair continues to get the benefit of affiliating with a strong sports brand in Fox Sports. For the average sports watcher, I doubt anyone knows or cares that the RSNs are owned by Sinclair; to them, it still looks like Fox Sports. Why not keep it that way?

The only problem I had with any of the graphics was the attempt to use a typeface that approximates the team logo, especially when one was incredibly bland (Chiefs) and one was garishly ugly (49ers). (That's not a statement on the teams, just their logo typeface.) Other than that, I didn't really have a problem with anything else. I was actually amused by the video game like animation when there was a score increase - I liked that. I didn't even have a problem with the large touchdown graphic. Everything seemed clean and well integrated, other than the team logo typeface thing as mentioned before. It also had more visual interest than the clean but somewhat boring flat look FOX Sports graphics they normally use.

Not completely outlandish, no. Only ALMOST completely outlandish.

Yes, my apologies at leaving that out. I thought context in the thread (and the thread topic) would have clarified that.

WISN had a ticker notice on last night's 5:30 news. Annoyingly, they used the beep alerts that usually signify severe weather. Granted, this isn't severe weather season, but it still grabbed my attention. I sort of think the beeping should be reserved for severe weather, sort of like how the EAS alert tones can't be used for anything else but EAS.

Just call it The Crew... they could even just photoshop some old The Chew promo material then.
