For someone who's been regarded as a bit elusive by jingle enthusiasts, getting that confirmation is something (I just saw it for myself). Nicely done.

Thank you Samantha. I've picked up on the following:

    *The synthesized and Timpani drums

    *The 3-5 vocal chorus

Both are in fact signatures of Otis Connor as used on Wipeout and WODS-FM in Boston ("Drake Series '88" and '89 packages)

Sad news from the game show + retro community. Poster David Downs who runs the Fun and Games Channel on youtube (Wheel, J!, vintage HBO, etc..) + created sarcastic videos on the day's TPIR on facebook under his aforementioned name, passed away at the age of 35. He leaves behind his fiancee Amanda. An inspiration + driving force for nostalgia geeks in us. Rest well.

Hi there, original poster of the tribute. David Downs' channel had over 25 million views alone, so this news is still heartbreaking to say the least. Please keep his family and GF Amanda in your thoughts.

If not, THE most-watched FOX affiliate in the country. I think WSVN regularly pulls in 300,000+ viewers for their news at 10pm (I saw that number years ago but not sure of 2019 numbers tho).

I guess for now, the CW is stuck with WSFL, even if CBS decides to do something with CW on WBFS or something....

Can't wait to see Scripps destroying and butcher one of NYC's most iconic television stations. It's not going to be pretty imo.

    Right.

It's as if the Jodi Applegate/Bill Carey era of WPIX was a blank slate.

We really need to speak up to Tegna management and tell 'em we don't like changes on their local stations and demand that things on our stations need to be brought back and left alone.

example: Leave the current WKYC logo alone, don't change it. Next, Reinstate "The Spirit of Texas" slogan back to WFAA, KHOU, and spread the Spirit slogan to Tegna Texas stations, and finally... get some better news sets from FX Group and/or BDI. Not some Tegna-Set-In-A-Box, and reinstate news themes (ex: KUSA News Package, Propulsion, The Tower, etc.) drop the C Clarity and gets some better news graphics.

Good luck with that. That's like telling McDonalds to have some local flavor to it. If it's corporate it's corporate.

TEGNA & Scripps are killing their stations with the current crap.  Again, 19 despite it silliness it has more muscle than KYC & EWS... just sayin'-

To be quite frank, speaking of Tegna, I’d rather have them do a ownership swap a la Cox/Fox with WFXT/KTVU with CBS to get WFOR out of its misery.

This is so shocked to hear that sad news I watched Todd every weekend mornings on Channel 10 and most recently his 10 Taxi got him famous. So sad for everyone at my ABC station in Miami, saying all our prayers🙏

    There are no words. RIP.

MrSurferOne is STILL stealing @compubit‘s videos without permission.

Shouldn't surprise me at all. I'm cool with the guy now since I gave him blessings to use some of the older stuff, but at the same time I totally agree with you. I know because when he first started out he carbon-copied my channel and people were confused and I called him out on it.

  9. But it launched on January 11th, 1995 and this is early February?

I had to correct myself, this was at least the 3rd or 4th week of the WB Network's launch. And yes, the station still branded themselves as TV56 before it went full WB56....by 1996 I guess?

  10. Sometimes it's good to pass it on, since one of our friends here posted up the vids, it's time to share the favor: A rare look at THE Ten O'Clock News (formerly The News at Ten) off WLVI-TV56 in Boston in 1995, Week 3 of the then-new WB network.

  11. In case you haven't actually seen Megyn's piece:

I thought it was perfectly fine, up until about 2:10 when she brings up Vietnam. Before 2:10, it's a perfectly acceptable monologue in my opinion given what she presents. Afterward, the Vietnam tit-for-tat is unnecessary.

That was the moment. Even everyone's surely aware this is all for clicks and ratings. :|

  12. I think she is gonna work the bad girl thing for a bit. The whole Jane Fonda thing generated plenty of hits, views and clicks across all the NBC platforms...and many others platforms. Some of these bonehead moves by NBC are actually kinda brilliant.

Women love to spar, and TODAY and GMA are becoming "women only" spaces just like most of social media is.

NBC and Kelly can afford to try new things, let them fight if it generates buzz and clicks. Heck let them start getting drunk at 8am if they want.

It's not like TV news media really has to worry about credibility anyway.

Eat has a point. All publicity is indeed good publicity. The truth of the matter is that MK Today had to take the low road in terms of responding to a reaction to a certain actress. Sadly that crosses the line. For me, this would have been the point of no return by airing a local newscast at 9am a la WHDH when they were ready to preempt Jay Leno's show for it's newscast. (I know it didn't happen, but lets say it did.)
