  1. If you've ever wondered where you can see Mary Jo West these days: By the way, is the clip below the only one we've ever seen of West during her 1983-'86 stint at KTVK?
  2. KTVK, 10 p.m. news, late '80s / early'90s: And a 1997 clip from KTVK's Tonight Arizona, which is what the 10 p.m. news was known as then:
  3. Miami's WTVJ takes a look back at its first 70 years -- with plenty of historical footage:
  4. Ah, "Morning in America"! I *knew* that voice sounded familiar. Thanks.
  5. WLS, morning news promo, 1990: Anyone know who the VO guy is? He also voiced this WNBC promo:
  6. Do we know what Joel Daly was doing at KABC in 1972? Was it some sort of an exchange?
  7. I don't think we've seen this particular 1980 promo from WBBM's legendary "Nobody Does It Better" campaign:
  8. A 1989 promo for WLS's 10 p.m. news:
  9. WPLG's special report on the approaching hurricane Andrew, 1992:
  10. WBKB (now WLS), Chicago; midnight news, 1964:
  11. From Los Angeles, KNXT's Noontime, 1972:
  12. ^^^ This is a great bit of Chicago TV history -- and a rare clip of Jane Pauley as WMAQ anchor. Kalber and Pauley would soon be reunited on the Today show.
  13. OK, I admit it: I like this `'74 promo for the NBC Nightly News. Its overall feel is cheesily optimistic in that 1970s way, but it's also a nice reminder of an era when news promos could be artistically creative and executives weren't scared to death of confusing the mass audience:
  14. WMAQ, Chicago; noon news (last edition with Jorie Lueloff), 1982:
  15. Thanks for the clarification, Ramona! Here's assorted coverage of the death of the legendary Chicago news anchor Fahey Flynn, 1983:
  16. An interesting, barely recognizable version of Classical Gas from Omaha's WOWT, 1979:
  17. KPHO, Phoenix; 6 p.m., 1999:
  18. A 1970 sales film about WFLD in Chicago:
  19. WMAQ, Chicago; noon news, 1978:
  20. Forty years ago today, a major blizzard struck Chicago. Here's WMAQ's special extended late newscast: Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JM5mMcnaFg Part 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBsgFjkVs2g
  21. An excerpt of the Satellite News Channel from New Year's Day 1983. SNC was a short-lived CNN competitor from ABC and Group W; it was eventually bought by Ted Turner and "merged" with CNN (it effectively closed down): Happy New Year!
  22. A 1995 CNN report about local stations' obsession with crime:
  23. Most of the site looks good, but is there any reason why the embedded YouTube videos are now so huge? Besides looking clunky, they make video-heavy threads awkward to scroll through. They shouldn't be bigger than the default video size on YouTube.
  24. WMAQ, Chicago; 10 p.m., 1970 or '71:
  25. KHTV, Houston; 11 p.m., 1990:
