  1. WFTV is a shell of itself. Same in other Hearst markets. WTAE now has the only copter in pittsburgh. WPXI has been gutted. The Cox stations cant keep staff either. They all post reporter openings daily.
  2. Yup. KB is certainly a legend in that market. But I remember when I worked at Waterman years ago, I was told Lois had the highest q score in the market, and was considered the most popular anchor.
  3. Must have had major family considerations. Thats leaving like a 400K a year job in a top 10 for 90-100K doing streaming stuff in market 20-something. He must be in line to be Chief there.
  4. Huh? No they didnt. Looks like they just renamed them, and listed for 4 new community MMJ’s. Am I wrong?
  5. Insiders with any info: NBC5 just listed for a political investigative reporter. Any idea who’s leaving? Mary Ann retiring??
  6. Bizarre move from evening anchor to MMJ at 7 (which is not a great job anymore) 7 needs a whole new male anchor bench. The current two are not ready for market 14.
  7. I worked for Waterman 20 years ago. My first job. I left after two years because it was such a toxic sweatshop (and I got better and moved on). But the Anchorman reference is spot on! It was an odd mix of young kids looking to move up and out, and old lifers with HUGE egos. The competition between BBH and WINK was obsessive to management. As for this weatherman.. it will blow over. Viewers love to say “Im never watching again!” and they do. And I agree.. a station doesn't just fire their most popular talent unless they have a reason. Its not money.. WINK has plenty of it. The whole.. he was taking long dinner breaks.. thats an excuse to fire him. Not a reason. If he was so valuable to them.. they wouldnt care how long he took.
  8. Side note: what happened to Dan Jaehnigs face??? Is he ok?
  9. Hurts badly? Thats a bit dramatic. This wasnt a surprise. He anchored an unwatchable newscast (not his fault), that was in last place forever. It should have been shut down years ago. WLNE put on one of the worst newscasts anywhere. I know.. not their fault.
  10. I think she is a great weatherperson. But as someone (me) who has been onair talent in major markets.. I can tell you.. certain markets.. one’s weight is definitely a factor in hiring. Many an agent and news director have told me so.
  11. are you serious? A boston station hiring her? no disrespect to her, but she does not have the onair look for a major market. she is too heavy. i think she’s great. But no way she goes to Boston.
  12. Re: WLNE so what happened? Not about bates but the station. Did they enter into an agreement or sale? Havent seen any article or announcement. Also, how many were let go? They took down their news team page. its about time. That operation needed to shut down. The newscast and most talent was beyond horrible, and looked like market 150.
  13. Breaking from the Indy Star: …At least 11 employees with Circle City Broadcasting, the parent company of WISH-TV, either quit or were fired Sept. 3 after they decided not to sign a new contract addendum with an expanded non-compete clause… How on earth does this hold up in court? I understand current non competes are still valid.. but firing someone for not changing the language in their current contract? Thats breach on the station’s part, no? And retaliation.
  14. Ad Week is shuttering TV Spy, the long running newsletter/website so many in TV News went to over the years to keep up with station and talent moves. The webpage announced its upcoming cease of operations on September 12th.
