  1. You’re right. It’s Fun Roads TV. I looked on the Fun Roads website and their listings, provided by Titan TV, are consistent with what you posted here.
  2. I wonder what led to this decision?
  3. That’s also the case on the Los Angeles transmitter. Since the website and the live stream are still up, my guess is that they went streaming only.
  4. Investigative reporter David Goldstein has left KCBS/KCAL Los Angeles after 34 years.
  5. As of today, the double run of Person, Place or Thing and Dateline have swapped timeslots on KTTV (L.A. Fox O&O), with the former moving to 1:00 and 1:30 PM and the latter moving to 11:30 PM.
  6. Almost a month late, but found this: https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2023/9/12/a-bad-rap?format=amp West Coast News Wrap, a half-hour newscast taken from the feeds of West Coast stations, launched last month on KTVU in the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose market, then last night (10/2) the program premiered on KTTV/KCOP in Los Angeles. Fox Television plans to expand the show to other West Coast O&Os, and may even offer it to affiliates. There’s even a YouTube channel for it:
  7. Is there a way to move @FiveNews’s post there?
  8. Spectrum Cable could lose Disney-owned channels.
  9. I just noticed the new ABC logo on KABC in Los Angeles on the 11:00 PM newscast tonight. The rest of the graphics haven’t changed yet.

    In Memoriam

Longtime KABC-TV Los Angeles reporter John North died this past Sunday at age 78.
  11. The “Fox 5 San Diego and “NBC 7 San Diego” monikers are derived from those stations’ channel slots on the cable systems in that market. The “branding by cable channel” thing is also a trend in other markets, such as Palm Springs, CA, and Ft. Myers, FL. I’d provide examples of stations from each market that engage in this practice, but I don’t want to turn this into the dreaded list thread.
  12. I’ve also seen that they only have the time/temp on for morning and midday newscasts now, no longer on the the long-established prime time block or late news. Haven’t checked the 4:00 PM on 9 or the 5:00–6:30 PM on 2. That’s a step backward, in my view, because the other news-producing stations in L.A. (KTLA, KABC, KTTV, KMEX, KVEA) have it on for every newscast (and have done so for more than a decade) while the only other one not have it on the late news is KNBC (except, inexplicably, on Saturday nights).
  13. I agree with @MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie, who isn’t harming anyone. When people post these types of things, it’s not like the sky is falling. Everything in moderation, including moderation. Take a chill pill.
  14. Until KDOC flipped to religious programming, both stations shared the local syndication rights to the Seinfeld reruns, with KCOP airing two episodes in the 10:00 PM spot, with KDOC airing the same episodes in the 11:00 PM slot.
  15. I wonder where all the court shows are gonna go?
  16. Their news director is leaving as of July 1. https://tvnewscheck.com/journalism/article/kttv-news-director-erica-hill-rodriquez-leaving/
  17. KCBS-KCAL is getting a new ND: https://tvnewscheck.com/journalism/article/mike-dello-stritto-named-kcbs-kcal-news-director/
  18. Crossposted from the Los Angeles News section: Patrick Healy is retiring from KNBC channel 4. His last day is December 31. https://www.nbclosangeles.com/community/veteran-television-broadcaster-patrick-healy-retires-from-nbc4-after-nearly-forty-years/2769800/?_osource=SocialFlowFB_LABrand&fbclid=IwAR1I6q7mbroAnyntY0Nq_4af85mcV5OITWipCG3ZK8_norEq_npA1iHVhgw
  19. Patrick Healy is retiring after almost 40 years. 20. Not sure if this belongs here or merits its own thread, but Joel Vilmenay has been named GM of KCBS/KCAL. He comes from WDSU-TV in New Orleans. He starts October 18. https://tvnewscheck.com/business/article/joel-vilmenay-named-gm-of-cbss-l-a-duopoly/
  21. Peter Saiers to become KTLA’s ND on April 21: https://ktla.com/community/veteran-journalist-peter-saiers-named-ktla-news-director/
  22. Dish is involved in seven different carriage disputes at this time. That number could grow to eight if a new deal between the satellite TV provider and the Cox Media Group, which owns 18 stations in 10 markets, isn’t reached by 7 PM ET on October 1. https://tvanswerman.com/2020/09/29/dish-could-lose-even-more-channels-this-week/
  23. Dave Lopez is retiring from the KCBS/KCAL duopoly in Los Angeles. His last day on air is June 30.
