  1. I'm guessing they couldn't get away with 'no weather forecast tonight, you have to wait until tomorrow. sorry (not sorry).' This seems like a last minute decision (maybe whomever was coming in that night was very sick and they dispatched the mobile weather lab to NWI, etc...).
  2. I think people may be reading too much into this. Gayle and Norah (on the surface) appear to be the main anchors with John and now Bianna having the title of 'co-anchor' in name only. I could be wrong, but that's how I view things on CTM. Given Bianna's background, it's a plus to have someone cover/discuss financial news, etc..., which is severely lacking on the big 3 morning shows.
  3. A little late to this, but.... 'Live' existed before Kelly and will likely exist after she's gone. ABC doesn't owe her anything. They hired her and if they so choose, could get rid of her. Everyone involved could've handled the Mike situation better, but what's done is done. Granted, she has played a big part in keeping the ship afloat over the years, that doesn't mean she gets to say/do whatever she wants. The last thing you want to do is feed an ego like hers. The same can be said if she were a guy. Like you said ' don't anger your talent...,' the same can be said about angering your employer.
  4. Took them 10 months make this official?? They're just as bad as WMAQ at making decisions.
  5. I agree. Maybe if they had updated the graphics to match/go along with the music that would have helped. It sound too coastal (if that make sense) to me. Streaming News will always be my favorite.
  6. As much as I have criticized Jiggets, Elgas, and others for jumping ship, I now understand why they left. WMAQ seems to have trouble truly valuing their people.
  7. Doesn't seem like the type to bail and appears happy where he's at. Maybe after 7-10 yrs., but not now I don't think. It makes sense to tap him to fill in on WNN given it's a role he has held before, albeit at CBS.
  8. Congrats to Kim. Still can't understand why it takes, in this case, 5 months to name her weekend morning anchor.
  9. The 4-6A hours are now branded as 'Good Day Wake Up' with the 6-10A hours remaining under the 'Good Day Chicago' banner. My guess is that this change took place recently (within the past week or so).
  10. People either love her or hate her. There is very little to no grey area when it comes to people's opinion of her.
  11. Could it be Katie was just filling in for Christian? If I'm not mistaken, when others have filled in for him, they would say, i.e....'I'm Katie Kim sitting in for Christian Farr." But who knows with WMAQ. They tend to do random things and never make anything official (even if it's temporary).
  12. Not a fan of the eyeopener. It seems too out of place for the evening news. And I don't like that camera moments/shots either. Way too much jumping around the studio (10 secs shot of Jeff at the desk, then a quick shot of the big video screen w/ some random people in the green room, then to the person in the field, etc..). Just way too much going on.
  13. They have been making smarter decisions over the past few years coupled with the fact that they have weathered the loss of key people (Herndon, Wall, Smith, etc..) better than in the past. Even the addition of the Good Day After Show (on Facebook) has been a plus in my book.
  14. I agree with this. Having Alan & Cheryl @ 5,6 & 10 would be best and put them in line with WMAQ and WBBM (not that this matters) in terms of having the same pair on during those time periods. Really no need to give the 6 to Judy.
  15. It was great to see Sylvia, Linda and Mike together at 9A. They went all out for this reunion w/ Linda (live at 9A and Noon, pre-taped segment, cooking segment, etc..).
  16. You're not alone about getting tired of this whole Sinclair ordeal. I think we have reached the point that we have to let things play out and stop the daily 'Sinclair is evil' debate. It's not like we're going to forget that Sinclair has done/will do some shady stuff nor are they going to suddenly stop doing said shady stuff. You're right about Feder too. He was at it again today. I'm not sure what (if anything) WGN management said to Hoover, but his tweet remains up/visible. I'm guessing the reprimand was that he doesn't make any further tweets, comments and the like in the future.
  17. Looks like WGN is trying to get ahead of any Sinclair resistance that may be building up. http://www.robertfeder.com/2018/04/03/chicagos-peril-wgn-tries-keep-lid-sinclair-resistance/
  18. Derek Dalton named new GM at WBBM http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-biz-cbs-2-new-gm-20180403-story.html
  19. I’m assuming to work the ‘Live Desk’ @ 5 and report @ 9P?? Guess we have to wait and see on Monday. I wonder if she’ll bump Sylvia as #2 (Dawn’s backup). If so, I’m not liking that idea.
  20. He gets no kudos from me. He was lucky enough to work for a GM who was just as ineffective as he was. Then when she bails, so does he. Couldn’t even wait until a new GM is named or, at the very least, a month before leaving. Quite the leader he is.
  21. I don't think they have much control at the local level to make decisions. If I'm not mistaken, NYC (corporate) has the ultimate say. Also, Ed was sidelined/off-air for like 2+ years unable to go anywhere (he was still under contract) before they brought him back. My guess is that someone doesn't think too highly of him and that's why he wasn't named Steve's successor much less shifted to weekend nights temporarily to fill in for Mary Kay.
  22. Kristen Nicole is the name that you're looking for. Maybe she takes over for Anita (who then goes back to just reporting) or Kristen goes back to GDC Weekends where she started when she came to WFLD. They needed another guy on the mornings and Anthony is a solid pick.
  23. In actuality, they gave more to republicans than democrats that year and didn't directly, to my knowledge, ask their employees for political contributions. Again, I don't think media/broadcasting/communication companies should have a PAC.
  24. I think 32 is not an option given they already have Brittney on board. But she would be a perfect addition to 'the JAM' on 26.
  25. Not surprised someone picked Jenny up. I'm still unclear as to why WFLD let her go in the first place. Her replacement brings nothing to GDC and can't even finish reading the map/travel times most days.
