I don’t understand all this work to make it look like 1A. Just tell the viewers it’s coming from Miami. I remember when I was a kid almost all the weekend shows come from dc on abc and NBC.

They just want a uniformed look.

So with Rachael Ray leaving, what is the likelihood of WABC and WPVI moving GH back to 2:00 and either adding a 3:00 newscast, or adding a 10:00 AM newscast with Tamron Hall moving to 2:00 or 3:00?

Highly likely. It may happen, actually.

WCBS made another interesting anchor decision this morning- teamed 2 male anchors together (Doug Williams with Dave Carlin). I believe the only other NYC station to do this was WNYW a few years ago? Interesting how 2 women anchors are so commonplace and 2 males are incredibly rare, at least in the NY market.

Dave is only filling in. I do believe they did this during the holiday's before. Don't remember if it was this past holiday or the year before.

Looks like the graphics change has been implemented. Keeping the new graphics but making some adjustments:

Person's name and title is again displayed under the headline, which is bolder. Locators have been squared off, as has been the CNN bug (except for the top-left corner, not pictured here), but the curves remain elsewhere. The flipper is now written in all caps and is often nearly impossible to read (I'm sure this will be addressed quickly).

So definitely not the "back to the old style" that Dylan Byers reported but more of a hybrid adjusting the new design.image.thumb.png.0a57ce3320a60a9156a4b5d3165962ef.png

Bolder looks better, but still not a fan of this package. Looks very basic.

Yeah, that actually doesn't sound like a bad idea! They good change the format altogether and make it a softer show like a localized version of GMA for New York only. "Good Morning New York", because quite frankly a hard newscast in the morning is a bit rough and it's kinda boring. I personally want to wake up to something more lighthearted and looser than the structured approach they've been doing for all these years. Maybe they can do that for the upcoming 2023-2024 season and November Sweeps..

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Good Morning, NY - too much like Good Day NY. I'm not against the 3 host format though.

There is a difference between "happy talk" comments like you stated and Ritter's snarky side comments which delve into outright stating his opinion.

Yes but again, Beutel's segment was identified as commentary, evidenced by signature below the screen (I would have still opted for a clear editorial graphic). Some of his opinions weren't even direct, just generic wise sentiments such as below:

Wether or not the ratings are affected,  it's the principle if it. News is supposed to be straight fact and repoters must minimize their opinions as much as possible unless it's an editorial or analysis segment. Cable news teaches us what happens when too much opinionated content seeps into news.

Alex S. Jones of Neiman Reports (not THAT Alex Jones) had a good take on this: "Enemies of objectivity argue that because journalists must be free of bias to be objective, and because this is impossible, it follows that objectivity is a false ideal...But objectivity does not require that journalists be blank slates free of bias. In fact, objectivity is necessary precisely because they are biased".

In short, because we are all biased we need a source of outright fact, which in turn helps us create informed opinions.

Can you point out in that clip where opinions are stated?

When I saw the morning graphics, I thought they’re still working out the kinks.

Looking at this picture, it’s still the same. When KPIX debuted the look. They sticked with the color schemes….The Breaking News is in Red as so as the CBS Los Angeles bug should be red too.

SKYCAL? You would think SkyEYE 😂

KCBS/KCAL hasn't always been the best with poor graphics and their camera angles are sometimes questionable.

Not usually around a TV during the morning news- but some time off this week gives me the opportunity. Landed on CBS Mornings.

Wasn't the whole point of this show to "put the news back in morning news" and differentiate themselves from Today and GMA? The time I spent watching was just a store-brand version of the other two shows- Same gossipy host-chat, "CBS Morning Deals" giving some paid-placement to product no one really needs, using songs like "Bye Bye Bye" as the closing bumper music, and that was just the 15-20 minutes that I caught.

I feel when the show was still CTM before moving to Times Square, they had a solid, and reasonably unique product, despite still being in third place- what happened?

I personally like CBS Mornings more than CTM. The flow is better and it's less boring... it feels fresh and less stuffy.

This forum is very nostalgia heavy, and most here have an extreme attachment to graphics and their local stations (see the argument about Pittsburgh needing everything to be black and yellow) Nothing new will ever be ok unless it keeps the same colors, names, numbers, style, anchors, sets, bumpers, idents, while also being new, fresh, exciting, up to date, and representing their area with little call backs and touches that bring a tear to your eye and you can say "That's my station".

It's pretty funny when you look at it objectively. Times are changing, get over it.

Apparently the point is to show headlines, which is what it does.

Nicely said. Things change, just gotta get with the times. These news organizations are struggling (most don't even look for sweeps periods anymore) - who really watches the news anymore?

We get our information from social media. I would side eye an organization if they weren't making changes right now...

    Yup!

No one at the station cares about the wonderful tradition that has been part of New York broadcasting for

    so many decades.

Last year, when Covid restrictions had already began to ease, WNBC chose not to produce the "Holdiay Song"

outdoors.  When I questioned management about this, the excuse was that the Prometheus Fountain area was

in the midst of alterations.  Surely, there were other outdoor locations that could have been used.  But no one

    seemed to care!

Also, last year, was the first and only time that the music chosen was a "Christmas Song," not the longstanding

policy to only use "Holiday Songs."  When I pointed this out to management, the response was "Really?"

Ignorance and Apathy rule supreme at 30 Rock!

Oh you're big mad about this.

CNN is leaving CNN Center in the next 3 years from what I understand. Yes, the Atlanta operations (what's left) are moving back to Techwood. I don't suspect they'll have anything quite as grand as the set they have at CNN Center. It would surprise me if they build out a full studio once they're fully back at Techwood.

Speaking of moving, a user on the Eyes of a Generation Facebook page is reporting that CNN is moving their LA bureau from its longtime Sunset Ave home to the old KNBC facility on the old NBC lot, that's now owned by WBD.

Chris is on a mission. Ugh.

Something tells me that management was caught off guard about Holmes' 'relationship' with another ABC News employee (a former GMA producer) that they felt that a deeper investigation, if you will, needed to happen. Plus, someone likely voiced a concern about the two, for whatever reason, that force management to pull them.

We likely won't know anything (and probably shouldn't) so it's just a waiting game at this point. I will say that Stephanie Ramos and DeMarco Morgan (who's first day with ABC News was yesterday I believe) seem to be a pretty good pair from what i saw briefly yesterday and today.

    DeMarco started in early November.

Hate it. What is it supposed to be anyway? A balcony? So confused.
