  1. I'm kind of surprised Signature is still offered. A lot of other Arnold packages of the era have unfortunately been retired (Finale originated in the same year as Signature and has held up better in my view), but somehow, that overly-sentimental old package keeps going. It doesn't help that a lot of the newer-sounding cuts don't sound like they fit in, beyond the musical logo. When Arnold updated the ancient Wall to Wall News, they at least added brass that was meant to help the newer cuts blend in with the older ones.
  2. Is Nexstar going to buy ABC once Disney finally gets around to dumping it?
  3. Where's your avatar from?

Betsy Nichols drew it. She's @betsythebeaver on Twitter and Instagram. ^^

...and I uploaded a color version of it, too, drawn by the same artist. ^^
  4. That won't be Altieri's first stint in the market; he was previously at KUSA.
  5. The fact that Kids' WB! took most of their good shows away might have had something to do with that too.
  6. Wanting to avoid the dumpster fire at KMGH I see.
  7. They don't seem fond of anything under 72.
  8. Channel 2's news department is the same operation as Channel 31's. They haven't been separate since 2008.
  9. Does that have anything to do with those stations being sold?
  10. Did he say anything about why it was commissioned? Did ABC ever intend to use it on stations other than KFSN? It sounds like a candidate for a standardized ABC O&O theme, if they ever pursued that.
  11. I don't live in New York, but if WABC ever commissioned updates to Eyewitness News, I'd hope they'd sound better than what KABC is using. Yuck. And be glad WABC doesn't look the way they did in the mid-2000s anymore.
  12. Won't let them sell all those properties to one buyer - and the list of prospective buyers is strikingly smaller than it was even a few years ago (especially because, at the moment, private equity isn't interested). And we haven't heard anything lately about whether or not Tribune Media is even formally pursuing a sale of their broadcast properties. Also, TEGNA knows they own ABC and CBS's largest affiliates. That is a reason to hold onto them, not sell them, unless they were in dire, dire need of financial relief, or some "activist shareholder" were pressuring them to sell.
  13. They are not about to exit their largest market, especially when that market came to their portfolio from the company they are not two and a half years removed from paying a fortune for, largely to get their hands on it.
  14. It sounds like the work of DreamArtists Studios to me, but I don't have solid proof of that.
  15. I don't think Belo wanted to deal with newspapers again, or assume a large debt load. They must have seen no better option than to leave the business and cash out.
  16. How do you know ABC wants to yank WFAA's affiliation?
  17. A Cracked TV show? Don't give them ideas!
  18. I thought that was an It Came From The D Block joke.
  19. Cutting to the bone is usually a preparation for a sale, not a deterrent to it. What Scripps does have to deter a sale is two classes of stock, one of which is held by the Scripps family. It would be they who determined whether or not to sell the company, which appears to be trying desperately not to throw in the towel - or pretending they still care.
  20. I remember seeing that occasionally on WXYZ, now that you mention it.
  21. , IIRC, predates the first-generation Scripps look, but anything suggesting that appears to have vanished from YouTube. What they replaced it with, to me, looks way cheaper and way less finessed. Notice how the lighthouse in the new one does not immediately become the Scripps logo, they just overlap for a bit. (Also, given its inexplicably reduced prominence, the lighthouse will probably be dropped outright at some point. I'll never understand certain companies' allergy to recognizable logos)
  22. I think you two are going on very little there. Also, "CBS Paramount" hasn't been a thing since 2009.
  23. The shade of blue isn't dark enough to be Michigan's.
