Kind of has that 1990s Today Show wooden vibe before they moved to 1A.

Hopefully this gets the competition going with some refreshes. I imagine Today show won’t do anything significant until the 2026 Olympics to 1A.

Someone mentioned with MSNBC soon leaving there will be a giant studio vacancy at 30 Rock. I wonder if Today is considering leaving 1A for bigger room if the ”window to world” concept has run its course.

I sincerely doubt Today leaves 1A.  They have a long lease. Plus it’s something to advertise about.

Just only seen pics and vids on the socials, but this looks like a downgrade, this is coming from a guy who thought the last studio set was amazing and felt it was probably the best in San Diego..

The surfboard screens look so gimmicky. I, too, am concerned about anchors falling off their chairs from the back? Those chairs better have brakes.

Fox5 also had a nice patio space area, I'm not really into KUSI's outdoor space.

I was hoping that this set and KUSI's would be designed similarly to KTLA's and WPIX's.

Didn’t the prior set have surfboard wings on their desk as it was circular like CBS This Morning?

Yep they also updated the Mornings @ 10, removing everyone. I guess they couldn't just edit Mike out since unlike most of the images it wasn't put together and they had everyone actually in the photo at once. The 5pm was also changed. It is interesting that Pedro wasn't added to the Morning thumbnails.

It's funny though, while nobody is going to view them full-resolution, Lee and Sade (and Ryan) are rather blurry compared to the newer photo for Mike.

Yeah these photos definitely look like they are photographed separately. .

Something I've been wondering, are they not allowed to show sports on the recorded streams? I found it odd that they replaced the coverage of the Knicks' loss at the start of the 11pm newscast with the usual sports scores. Granted every now and then full sports coverage slips in, usually the 6pm news if any, but generally speaking it's almost always replaced.

It’s something the ABC stations have done since they broadcasted online. I assume they’re fearful about rights but other chains have no issue.

  5. They premiered Washington Week from the new studio. Appears they use one pedestal camera shots. Along with the two PTZ cameras on each “retractable” wall. The PTZ appears to be setup where one is a wide shot and another is a close shot. They appear to use transitions to change the close up shot.

  6. I love the set, supposedly took 4 years to come to fruition - probably most of it was planning and building the extension to the building. I love how they have large curved monitor wall slightly with its own background. The a separate backdrop allows  a canvas slightly with an aspect ratio larger than a 16:9 float above much like the 4:3 OTS elements.

I also love the ingenuity of the two-two camera set up with a PTZ heads on the top/bottom of a cutout. It’s great that when they’re not in use they can slide back between two walls.

This may be an interesting business story to see how it plays out. The Talk was kind of little more than wallpaper by the time the axe fell. But can a ground-up drama be enough of a profit source for an organization that isn't exactly rolling in dough? Does having those production partners change the financial calculus? How long or short of a leash does the show get to get a foothold?

I think as long as it makes money CBS will be happy.

The Gates was developed from the joint venture between CBS Studios and the NAACP. The series will be produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP venture in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble.

Sounds like they may have a solid financial footing.  The stars will likely not be commanding the same amount of money as “The Talk”. Nor the more establish soaps.

Checking the schedule, https://www.nbc.com/schedule, I noticed there are no live morning newscasts on WNBC Christmas day.

The first newscast of the day is News 4 NY at 6. Is this new or a standard thing for them?

Checking the schedules for the other stations: WABC is 5-7am. WCBS is 6am. WPIX is 4-8am. WNYW is the regular 4:30-10am.

Surprising giving this is a major marker.

  9. It’s underwhelming. Basically they redid the floors, replaced the desk, hid the weather center with a monitor wall, and added a monitor wall on the back wall? Am I missing anything? I understand there’s only so much you can do at times but their set IMO was fine as is. I wonder if this was an update done by the station with money the had or the O&O office had them freshen it up.

This looks extremely similar to the NBC News Now graphics, just flipped, and taller.

I would not suprised if it was done by the same team

It makes sense - given NBC is unifying logos and fonts among network.

My biggest critique on Grayone, is that the L3s don't go from end to end on the screen. Just wasting space. (I know this is probably a relic of the 4:3 aspect ratio of the first 60 years of television)

It’s not necessary. The program is going out in widescreen. However, many HDTVs like old analog TVs have overscan. This can be turned off but most people don’t know how to change it. So it’s best to keep most graphics 14:9 safe.

Hello everyone, our latest edition of "Magnet Newsroom", we reintroduced the headlines segment, using a new transition and AR which I'm very pleased with and our very first on-sciences report, we hope to do this throughout the rest of the year with various students (preferably freshmen and sophomores) to find some potential successors for our current anchor team.

That is pretty darn impressive. Is YouTube the only method of distributing these videos either Live or recorded? Just for privacy reasons I’d suggest deleting the past.

  13. Maybe it’s been mentioned but I didn’t know realize it until now, Bloomberg previously had 2 channels a FAST simulcast called Bloomberg UHD+ and then recently the HD feed went to the same layout. I thought they were just downscaling the UHD feed, however almost all the content save for the indices are different they both have the TV schedule pop up but HD seemed more detailed on interview guests than UHD. The news on UHD is more of a paragraph contrasted to the HD which has bullet points

Hi! Can anyone tell me which TV Antenna should I choose? I am currently living in a rural area. My budget is no more than 300$. I am using Ecostar LED TV. So suggest me accordingly.

Sorry, I’m a bit late. I would recommend checking out antennaweb.org they list the stations you should get based on your address and antennas are colour coded by type.

KDKA has the new ticker but only for CBS News Pittsburgh though; as the old ticker still shows up on the tv broadcasts.

I like the TV  ticker best, the different colors of the new one look odd with the color palette.

Wouldn't it just be easier just to say reporting from Miami, Jose Diaz Balart?  Why the make believe he flies from Miami to NY to Miami every Saturday?  Then they don't have to do a virtual copy of 1A, or 3C in the past and any future 3X studio.

From what I’ve been told Telemundo likes to dabble in VR. Al Rojo Vivo I think initially when they moved to the Telemundo Center they rebuilt  the set I believe the large curved wall for ARV in the home shot is a green screen as was the corner where the host would sit  at a see through table.
