One I’d like to know is if they are still going to have excess studios to rent out. If they aren’t there aren’t many places that could fit a show like Dr. Oz.

I don’t see a move from TSS. Disney owns the building outright and as long as ABC keeps paying they’ll remain. Additionally it’s in a tourist area - like 30 Rock. I should add from the renderings I’ve seen of the new development there really is no area for outdoors space like Times Square. There are some terraces between “tower blocks” but the hassle of of bringing an audience crow through security up through a building for a short period of time seems like a hassle (even though they do it for the second hour of GMA and GMA3).

The reason they do that is because of affiliation contracts if people out west can watch the live video on NBC News Now it would detract the possible audience reach of a local affiliate. Likewise that’s the similar reason you see CBS Svening News go out around 10:00 on CBSN - it’s the last feed of the night on the CONUS. As for Today if you have cable/satellite and access to NBC News go you can still watch or if you have SiriusXM you can listen live in your car along with the 7AM ET. I believe SXM now airs Today Show Radio - I have access right now - it airs the show from 7-10AM ET then repeats the first three hours (with updates) as they air on the west coast. I believe Hoda and Jenna air at 1PM ET. Plus Today Show Radio simulcasts NBC Nightly News.

Who are they?

ABC I believe hubbed their master controls within the past two years. They’re all based out of Encompass which recently handled the NBC O&Os and I believe the CBS O&Os. This McGuff article says they started back in 2014 but I think it was more recent.

Worth mentioning that Comcast isn’t even including WGN America or WE TV on new packages. Probably they knew they were going to go away.

From the looks of it it just seems to be a chroma key. I imagine she’s standing in the newsroom weather center. If they wanted to make it slightly more realistic they could back up a bit and put some green on the floor.

Maybe just an Easter egg goof or someone thinking Amtrak runs the NYC subway (which would be odd given all the intricacies they put in).

I was going to say I saw nothing then I saw an Amtrak logo.

In the new year Ali Velshi will be leaving daysides and will be hosting his own show from 8-10am on weekends, replacing UP and David Gura will host MSNBC Live from 2-4pm. It’s up in the air who will take Velshi’s 3pm weekday slot but sounds like Stephanie Ruhle will be staying at 9 and 1pm. Also didn’t know Velshi taught at Wharton.... https://variety.com/2019/tv/news/msnbc-ali-velshi-weekend-schedule-1203449474/ Additionally Alicia Menendez will anchor MSNBC Live at 4pm Saturdays and 6PM (bumping a rerun of Meet The Press) Sunday’s. Would like to know where the Phoenix anchor and Kendis Gibson will fit.

I imagine they period they’re leasing back will overlap significantly with the build in /move out. Also is the new developer of the current ABC property going to demolish all of it it or will keep some studio. Like what happened when NBC sold the Burbank lot, some outside developer came in to own it but kept it as studios.

There was one person who worked on WHAG / which is part of the DC market who lived out of his car. I don’t think they will be Daily features. If they’re like his Today show ones they’re probably once a week.

'Tis the Season for Holiday Programming

Huh, looks like on my TiVo at least WBAL and WBFF are running their local news in full. WBAL is preempting their noon news for Christmas in the Air with Tom Brokaw and at 5pm the Magnificent Mile Light Festival. -
I imagine it will be later in the evening. They already rerun Richard Lui’s 4pm at 6pm.
-
I’d like to know if this was scheduled to be recorded on the day of the hostage situation in Jersey City,
-
I haven’t seen the O&Os on NBC do it nor many affiliates?
-
After seeing a second CBS Evening News recording on my TiVo I did a look around and saw that most of the CBS O&Os rerun the Evening News overnight. Sounds like a ratings play.

Barons maps and radar appears differently from WSI.
-
Ah, I wasn’t sure if it was the same as WSI. But (off topic) could a hub create look, implement it and share it amongst sister stations or does WSI or Barron need to be involved? I heard that new templates had to be installed (or sent to the WSI box) by them.
-
True, but the stations that are transitioning are all WSI - the templates are mostly already premade and aren't they easily pushed to stations? Where as WJZ would have to recreate it for Lynx? Also, I cannot stand that black and white ticker they use, nor the previous ticker CBS O&Os used. I much prefer the WJZ version and hope they dont screw it up.
-
All the weather graphics that launched are at stations that use TWC/WSI’s platform. WJZ and maybe KDKA still rely on Barron for their graphics.
-
WJZ transitioned..... j/k it will be ages before they transition.

What do you mean? The bulk of the team being in NY, or the show being in DC. Every studio CBS Broadcast Center is booked. The only place I think they could use to switch out sets would be using the CBS Sports Studio. They’ve used the studio before for a few of their town halls they did during sweeps. But the news division doesn’t have any other major studio space except for Studio 33 which I imagine is just a chroma key studio for 60 Minutes. Studio 45 which is half Inside Edition’s virtual set and half hard set for Sunday Morning which I don’t think they dare touching (aside from maybe painting and technological upgrades has it changed from the beginning). And Studio 57 is the bulk of their operations. There are also two studios converted into newsrooms - Studio 57 and Studio 47. The rest of the space is booked. 41 - The Mel Robins Show 42 - Last Week Tonight, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Desus & Mero 43 - CBS Sports 44 - CBS Sports Network 46 - WCBS/WLNY.
