The B&C article states that KTVT will only produce the Detroit show (WKBD).

The other two, WCBS will produce the Atlanta show (WUPA); and WFOR is going to produce the Tampa show (WTOG).

I guess the CW O&O in Seattle (KSTW) is not mentioned on those plans, but then again, neither is WFOR's sister station, MyNetworkTV affiliate WBFS or KTVT's independent sister station KTXA.

    (via ftv)

This come months after Tegna was looking to dump the millennial experiment and get back to news....

Isn't this the same Joel Cheatwood who originated the tabloid concept now in use at Sunbeam WHDH & WSVN?

I forgot to mention with KFMB AM/FM in Tegna's pocket, they'll already expanding the radio business. I remember Gannett used to own radio stations when they acquired Combined Communications.

Also, in addition with buying WBNS-AM and WBNS-FM, Tegna would also own 2 radio networks, ONN Radio and the Radio Sound Network.

Not only that, they're bringing back this look...

I wonder if the soon-to-be-reborn "CourtTV" will compete against the Justice Network in certain markets.

  5. Approved.

    Quality? What Quality???......

By "quality", I think he meant pushing out veteran talent for young talent, and "social media-driven" newscasts has somewhat taken over. I may be wrong about this..

  6. Jane Robelot of WYFF who had been filling in for Gabrielle Komorowski while she was out on maternity leave will permanently co-anchor the 4 pm newscasts with Komorowski. Carol Goldsmith who had been anchoring at 4 in addition to her 6 & 11 pm duties continues as 6 & 11 pm co-anchor.

    http://www.wyff4.com/article/jane-robelot-to-anchor-weekday-newscast-on-wyff-4/13515861

Isn't Jane Robelot the same anchor who once worked at WCAU, WGCL and CBS News?

  7. Awful news, especially the way in which he passed. Rest in peace.

It's even more awful considering that Sinclair may soon come knocking at their front door.

    Or Nexstar for that matter.

  8. AT&T/Time Warner owning TV stations.... huh.

Didn't AT&T have a share in LIN Broadcasting back in the day, or am I thinking wrong? Anyways, that would be interesting.

You might be right. AT&T did have a 45% share in LIN Broadcasting, which spun off its TV holdings as LIN TV Corporation in 1994. AT&T acquired McCaw Cellular Communications the same year.

  9. Chances are if Sinclair or Nexstar tried to buy WWJ/WKBD, they probably wouldn't start with news right away, given Viacom/CBS's failures to establish a news department. Of course, Sinclair already owns plenty of stations in Michigan, while Nexstar has no Michigan presence. Even with WEVV returning to the news game come next month, WWJ, along with Sinclair-owned WTWC, would still be the only stations among others still without news, and that's one heck of anamoly that many of us in this forum are still trying to figure out. Hope I'm wrong about this.

  10.

Didn't their parent just sell all their stations sans KTXD and KCEB? Makes you wonder if they spent all $215mil of that Gannett money...

I wonder if Gannett would want to come in and scoop up London completely and let operated TXD as a duop with WFAA...

Or how about Nexstar takes over KTXD (just a wishful thinking sugestion that's unlikely to happen)
  11. I tend to agree with some of you, this "Blue Helio" stuff is nothing but a wild goosechase. Until somebody (or someone) from the news industry comfirms which company is behind the graphics for WCBS, KIMT, KOIN?, WLEX and others, we'll have to label the company as an "unknown" from this point.
