  1. A delayed "NBC 24 News at 11" from WNWO, 1998 (though I have a nagging feeling it's two years old graphically). TVbD work when FF Meta was way, way in vogue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFgS7KU-OHQ
  2. The debut WNCN newscast, September 4, 1995 (with a 3D-heavy open): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZ5Dpy1BgRY
  3. Yeah, I knew what the first three were. (They're not in the NMSA, though) #4 (WSFA) is a BIG mystery because... -It's from 1999. The only theme we know that WSFA used between 1996 and 2003 was a package called "Alabama's News Source", a custom composition by Ralph Ford. -We don't even have a single sample of it. (We may want to ask: there is an email address on his very sparse website. But given the date, I have a hunch that it really is this package.
  4. Some of that stuff I've never seen or heard before, namely the WTVY, WJHG, WSFA, and WTNZ packages. (The WSFA package in particular. This might be the custom "Alabama's News Source" package, for which the NMSA does not even have a raw music sample. The date, 1999, is correct.)
  5. WTVT 11pm open with the sax cut of Brave New World, 1992: Very much like what WTVJ had in 1988 IMO. There's more in that channel too that's new in the past few hours.
  6. WSEE Newswatch 35 Weekend from 1991 (new theme, not Hello News):
  7. @TexasTVNews: If it's the one from NewsActive3 part 24, it's from June 30, 1994. Interestingly enough, that day, KPHO and CBS cut a deal. I would like to see it. KSAZ from 1994 is one of my favorite eras of any TV station ever. They were doing things right in the design realm. Like, really right. Like, nobody can ever match them right (they're not even using an open on weeknights, just a cold "Fox 10 News at 9" and right into the headlines).
  8. There's more Phoenix stuff where that came from, though not much. Enough to say that KTSP used that news theme right up through its 1992 rebrand, though, and to say Al Vanik really was the voice of KTSP for a time (many major VO talents – Scott Chapin, Paul Turner, Al Vanik – are rare to find in Phoenix materials and only turn up for a couple of years).
  9. It's been several months, but there's now Part 74 from NewsActive3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJDGQRecj9Q
  10. Though we've seen the open before, nobody's seen this unique juxtaposition. KIRO, 1991: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1BT3h5l8PY The ID is more associated with the last package and has a Roger Thompson VO. The open is actually a little different (the background shots behind Brown and Procaccino would be replaced by November) visually than the one we had, though it has the same VO and graphics. Plus, what might be (not sure, don't know this market that well enough) a weekend open from KING in 1991: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n7qSrB6InQ (different anchor lineup than all known video opens with this package)
  11. Just in time, phillyvideofan's Hurricane Andrew collection has a WLNE 1992 open with a theme I've NEVER heard before and may not be in the NMSA. With the voice of Paul Anthony in his prime: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RXuJUPUiGQ (5:52)
  12. "South Florida's News Station" had relaunched by late 1988...but this rare 11pm open from when it still had to air the NBC network didn't last beyond then. (December 22nd, 1988? That's the Lockerbie bombing, and a day had probably passed)
  13. John Christopher Burns has some new old stuff out... News 8 Austin 1999 montage: Bay News 9, 1997: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_crODX2IGYo (home of seriously good Primetime News cuts!) And, despite being non-classic, still merits a posting for interest: a full montage of the WJCL-WTGS redo he debuted last year: It appears WTGS is also now using the Eyewitness News package (new information to the NMSA). I wonder which television station is next for JC to tackle. He's been working a lot with New Vision TV of late (KOIN, KIMT, WKBN, WJCL), so perhaps KHON-2 Honolulu?
  14. One says "Cap Cities ABC", which dates it to the 1980s. Others look definitely 1960s-70s.
  15. Brian Allen keeps showering Iowa goodies. Bold titles are new to the NMSA record. WHO 1996 open: WHO 1977 EWN open (with Part of Your Life): (and a young Jack Cafferty) KCCI 1996 open: (by this time, Jeanette Trompeter had been replaced by Cynthia Fodor) KCAU/KCAN 1995 open (Making a Difference continues to be found LATER): WHO 1988 open (with First News): WHO 1982? open (with Look for Us):
  16. KCAU-KCAN 1994 open (10pm): (same GFX as WXII; later than listed by the NMSA for Making a Difference) KCAU 1998 talent open: (not in the NMSA; Great News)
  17. It's raining Jim Heath: KVOA 1994: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNHrrcwgChU KPNX 1994 (complete with singing): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YO8RZYjmNLs KSAZ 6pm 1994 (different VO): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uSmaCbknNA KSAZ 6pm weekend 1994: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8M1nQhmuYI KSAZ promo 1994: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yALweQIk9PA (September 13th was the first weekday after they lost CBS; yes, that's John B. Wells!) KSAZ promo #2, 1994 (with their image campaign, the Spirit of Arizona): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iSnyvAKoOs
  18. KREM 2 News open (1983, previously unknown): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eD9Tau9Z6RQ NewsActive3's new CLOSES collection: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrLsv0D2bNw (all of them are matched to opens in his collection)
  19. ...Those are not KXTV promos, they are KTXL promos. But they do have some harsh digs at KCRA ("...but we tell them this is Where the News Comes First!" stands out).
  20. Then you should be pretty happy with this latest batch he whipped up. Most notably, amidst all the opens, a short WTKR Ignitor open (has the apocalypse occurred yet?....no?!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUXrs9CwWOE
  21. NewsActive3 keeps chugging along. Highlights of this collection include a WYFF John Christopher Burns-era open; an old WCBS open; and KNXV from 2000 (a surprisingly elusive catch). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYKangZqJeU If you get tired of hearing "And I'm Morris Jones" by the end of this thing, I do not blame you.
  22. It's the 70s in Sacramento... KOVR Action News 1975 (in full): KOVR Action News 1978: (Part of Your Life) KCRA Channel 3 Reports 1978: (plus an early prototype of the "Where the News Comes First" musical signature?) KCRA Channel 3 Reports 1975 (in full): (get a load of that news desk) There's more, but those are the only complete opens.
  23. Another great batch of that news open collection that seems to never end! Highlights include a two-minute dose of WFLA in its Bold Horizons era, late 1970s? KYW opens, a funny News 4 New York "Energizer Bunny" promo from circa 1990, a funny 5pm WANE-TV news promo, and a certain Philly promo that speaks for itself. My personal favorite is another KWCH Eyewitness News open (from circa 1993 or 1994?).
  24. There are some true highlights of that collection, including a one-minute singing KGO weather promo! (And the KNXV and KTSP opens don't hurt either.)
  25. Want the 90s back? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvzesOcsCHQ Part 53 of the longest TV news open collection in history (I think?). Among the highlights: a bad WABG open, KWCH from the mid-1990s, an Alabama boatload (all new, as well), a WALA open from NBC Nightside overnight news, and the countdown clock that changed WBMG to WIAT in 1998.
