  1. The oldest KJEO footage found on YT has surfaced. KJEO Eyewitness News, April 1988. News theme is unknown and new:
  2. KCOP 10pm, July 1987. They'd just introduced a new look, one that shared open graphics elements with Australia's Seven Nightly News: (watch this channel — this guy has Joplin, MO stuff that he hasn't posted yet. Some of it is sorely missed, too!)
  3. KTHV full 10pm newscast, 1993. Unusual cut of Gari's "It's All Right Here": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZPWLVyPMqo
  4. CKVR (Barrie, ON) Total News from 1992 with some unusual music...
  5. WVIT close, 1989. This is from the first "Connecticut News" era (the "typewriter package", as I call it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc4KwoBNNe4
  6. WGHP 10pm, October 1996. Much like many New World Fox stations in the mid-90s, it's barely apparent that this is a Fox affiliate!
  7. The guy who uploaded that was missing a lot of info when he first put it up. I found it and told him a lot of the missing information. He had the year slightly off, too. That exchange was interesting because the two anchors didn't exchange at the same time. Austin and Adelaide are sister cities, both founded in 1836. Not quite sure if you realize this, but we have that was used for the Austin end of the anchor exchange, too.
  8. It's a newscast with Pat Harvey from 1989! And that's where the normalcy of this particular posting ends. Looks like we've got a news mystery on our hands. EDIT: This lasted for a week. Apparently one of the regular newsreaders was in Asia.
  9. KTVL NewsCenter 10, 10/21/1980. The theme music is the NBC TV/Radio Newspulse package. Very odd long tease precedes the open: Tobacco Archive: 1993 news items on the EPA and the tobacco industry. The newscasts are national and local (Richmond market): http://archive.org/details/tobacco_rrp23e00 Notably, WWBT used the NBC Affiliate Package for its First at 5 newscast and 11pm open, and WRIC used Symphony at morning and noon and another theme at 6pm and 11pm upon switching to TV8 News. You can hear the Symphony samples at 15:00 and 19:08, and the unID theme is heard at 17:21 and 23:51. I believe WRIC used these themes from 1992-94 and Total News from 1994-96 or so.
  10. That KAUZ "Lone Star 6" is actually pretty nicely done.
  11. WALB 11pm open, 1991. The news theme sounds like it could be 615's Power News? If it is, it's a very unusual cut. Also, a very pink open...
  12. Orange County NewsChannel, 1990s. This same theme was used by UGA's student-produced "News Source 15" in 2001. http://archive.org/details/tobacco_vxx27a00 While looking for stuff I found something from "KOLD" that was actually from KOLO, a completely mislabeled clip, and something that said it was about Kansas but came from Kentucky, plus "WSPA" somehow becoming "WDPS" in "Spartensburg" (typo) and someone putting WLKY in the Cincinnati market. Also, the "NBC Evening News" [sic] from January 1978 — notably, without any tobacco-related material. There's even a WNBC close in here: http://archive.org/details/tobacco_giw27a00
  13. From 1988, WVLA's 10pm open. Longest cut of this theme I've ever heard. Also includes a rejoin. Jacky also has a hypothesis about the name of this package, which he thinks might be titled "A New Vision for Louisiana" or similar:
  14. From 1992, news opens throughout Michigan. Highlights: -A WLNS open with the WTVO 1992 News Theme! -Another WILX open from their basic graphics open (the morning open is in the NewsActive3 collection amidst a bunch of Fresno materials) -A "Get the Facts" WJBK open -A Sports Update open from WXYZ. KYW used this as production music in 1987 for lottery numbers, not sure of theme though -A WKBD open http://archive.org/details/tobacco_feq23e00
  15. It's Part 95! Some stuff is new, though most of it isn't. Among the more intriguing items is a British clip of an Anglia News teaser and ITN's News at Ten from 1997. This Anglia theme really sounds nice (TV Ark has a full open from this era).
  16. From late 1987, WRBT's Baton Rouge Today. What makes this notable is they would change calls the very next day (though the music and graphics remained).
  17. From 1981, it's WTVM's Action 9 News — the oldest Columbus GA news open we have! What is the theme? http://youtu.be/kfB80kyTDjQ From the same year, WBAY's Action News at 6. I believe this might be a CBS News/affiliate theme. I've heard the opening sound effect before, on a CBS News/WBTV combo promo. This is the oldest Green Bay market open we have. http://youtu.be/Dqu5hK1Y71g
  18. American Spirit Media : Raycom :: Mission : Nexstar Also, the "[market] News Now" appears to be a new naming standard in the Raycom group, probably started with Hawai'i News Now over in Honolulu but more in earnest when KOLD took over KMSB in Tucson.
  19. A new part of the NewsActive3 collection has shown up, and rather stunningly it has some brand new stuff from Alaska to Florida. New material from WTVY, KTUU, WCJB, WBBH, WESH, and more! The WCJB open at 10:37 is a particular must-see.
  20. A minute of C-SPAN2 continuity precedes this "TV Inform" Soviet evening newscast from 1991: http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/23524-1 Compare that with a 1995 Russian evening newscast, with some later C-SPAN continuity: http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/68315-1 C-SPAN has a lot of debates, as you might expect. Though you may have seen this one before (Jim Heath had it), it doesn't hurt to repeat it: http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/33725-1 But even I haven't seen THIS one: http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/ArizonaSenat A week after that one, it was time for a gubernatorial debate. Held in Tucson, the open has the same graphics (which I would bet KSAZ furnished) but different music and VO: http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/ArizonaG
  21. From 1990, the opener to WENY's 36 Eyewitness News. What's the theme? @fox2: here and see if you recognize a certain promo tune. I know I did.
  22. You impress me by showing some piece of Phoenix TV history I've never seen. This Pets on Parade clip from the mid-1980s does that in two ways. The real interesting part, though, is at 5:13. Let's just say I may take back every word I've said about repetitive Turn To campaign songs.
  23. There's more where that came from: KPNX 1986 10pm. Notably, this is a cut of the "We're Going Where You're Going" package I've never heard:
  24. North of the border, but with Pride Inside: A CHCH news update from 1989. The package cut is strange. So is the TV border (in more ways than one): Also from CHCH, a 1992 newscast, though stripped of its commercials and anything they didn't have the rights to:
