  2. Back to KCWI, whether the Pappas' suit goes in their favor or doesn't, what happens to KDMI?

Here's how I'd do a subchannel shuffle in Des Moines. Perhaps Nexstar and Pappas could do a deal with ION so that KFPX could move to KDMI's channel and get a stronger signal and wider coverage area.

    KCWI → WOI (RF 23, VC 5) 5.1 ABC (720p HD), 5.2 CW (720p HD), 5.3 ThisTV (480i SD)

    KDMI → KFPX (RF 19, VC 19) 19.1 ION (720p HD), 19.2 qubo (480i SD), 19.3 ION Life (480i SD), 19.4 ShopTV (480i SD), 19.5 QVC (480i SD), 19.6 HSN (480i SD)

    WOI → ???? (RF 5, VC 23) (spun off) 23.1 ????

    KFPX → ???? (RF 39, VC 39) (sold by ION) 39.1 ????

  3. Back to KCWI, whether the Pappas' suit goes in their favor or doesn't, what happens to KDMI? Do they keep it in the interim and wait to sell the spectrum in the incentive auction, or do they sell it to one of the other three existing network affiliate owners in town (Tribune, Hearst or Sinclair)?

Given it's a This TV affiliate already, I could see Tribune as a buyer, create a duopoly with WHO-DT, shove This TV to a subchannel and add syndicated shows to KDMI's main channel.

But that would leave the market with seven unique owners. Maybe Dreamcatcher would buy it and Tribune would run it?
  4. Here’s how I would do a subchannel shuffle in Corpus Christi:

    KIII: 3.1 ABC (720p HD), 3.2 FOX (720p HD – move from KUQI), 3.3 MeTV (480i SD)

    KRIS: 6.1 NBC (1080i HD), 6.2 Telemundo (720p HD – move from KZTV2), 6.3 Cozi TV (480i SD – move from KIII4)

    KZTV: 10.1 CBS (1080i HD), 10.2 CW Plus (720p HD – move from KRIS2), 10.3 KDF (480i SD)

    KUQI: 38.1 MundoFOX (720p HD – move from KIII3), 38.2 Retro TV (480i SD)

  5. IIRC correctly KIII has four subchannels already. ABC, Me-TV, MundoFox and Cozi.

Of course, one or two of those subchannels would have to go, most likely MundoFOX if it moves to KUQI.
  6. We missed an approval of a station sale, of KUQI Corpus Christi. The debtor-in-possession High Maintenance Broadcasting has sold to Corpus 18, LLC. The sale is related to the debts, and Corpus 18 is comprised of the noteholders involved with High Maintenance and a related company, GH Broadcasting, which owned two low-power television stations. One carries MNTV and the other probably MundoFox.

You may recall that KUQI was the subject of a failed sale in 2012 under which it would have been combined with KIII in a shared services agreement. You may not know that their website, kuqitv.com, is, uh, one of the greatest websites in television history.

The most important stakeholders of Corpus 18 are Robert Behar (HERO Broadcasting; KBEH, KMOH-KEJR) and Prime Time Partners, which owns a series of MundoFox stations.

Will Corpus 18 flip KUQI to a Spanish network? If so, what will happen to FOX in Corpus Christi?
  7. Take a tweet: "Over the air customers in Great Falls can now view KBGF in HD on channel 19. Please re-scan your HD TV sets." That was on October 27.

It is 15 kW and shows up in the FCC query as a NEW station on channel 19 with facility ID 198180.

Here's the listing on rabbitears.info. It too lists KBGF as a NEW station, but it's supposed to use virtual channel 50.

    http://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?request=station_search&callsign=198180#station

Both sites have two records, one a pending application, the other saying it's operating under "Special Temporary Authority". What's that mean, and which one's right?

Also, KBGF HD hasn't been picked up yet by Charter Cable. It would usually be in the 500 range.

    http://www.zap2it.com/rmp/tvgrid/tvgridprint?lineupid=USA-MT68818-X&tz=US/Mountain&time=0

  8. I highly doubt it. KBGF was only available in analog until last week. Until a couple of weeks ago, their weather graphics consisted of frozen radar screen captures.

I checked rabbitears.info and fcc.gov, so far, no mention of KBGF-LD. If they had flash-cut to digital, the two sites would have told us by now.
  9. Well' date=' we heard the news yesterday that Nexstar is buying Phoenix's KASW, which I didn't see this coming from a mile away. But this afternoon, Mike Malone from the B&C states his sources said that Nexstar might be getting Pappas' Des Moines CW station KCWI next. Perry Sook didn't confirm the news but the article states that he "said he hoped to do so "Very soon."

And if the sale goes through, Des Moines will still have eight unique station owners.
  10. That would be a massive downgrade for WOIO and CBS.

Far more likely that Gannett, Scripps or Tribune will buy WBNX's intellectual property as a whole, run it in 720p on 3.2, 5.2 or 8.2, and Angely simply cashes out on 55.1.

    Fixed.

  11. Speaking of Nexstar' date=' I have no idea how we missed this. MyNetworkTV programming in Springfield, MO, which was originally a secondary affiliation on KRBK, has moved to KOZL. In addition, KRBK is now "Fox 5".

Why would it be FOX 5 when it's on varying cable channel numbers across the market:

    Mediacom Springfield - Channel 10 (5 is KSPR-DT2 CW)

Charter Osage Beach - Channel 4 (5 is religious indie KNLJ Columbia)

Suddenlink Branson - Channel 9 (5 is Branson Visitor TV)

Cox Harrison AR - Channel 5

"FOX Ozarks" would be a better brand.
