1. Good for him making such a homecoming return. Hope he lasts long and does very well again.

Funnily enough, a few days ago I watched a TL Hughes video on the station's news opens and May was seen as an anchor for a few years (which I hadn't known about). I guess that's some type of foreshadowing in my mind.

  2. Just to clarify, I am definitely in favor of and appreciative of sexual equality and I am in NO way homophobic (except for the PDA--but to me that's grossly obnoxious no matter what gender you like).

I'm just done with the discussions about this one NBC News correspondent who just happens to not be straight.

I hope you all weren't confused or disgusted by my last posting.

  3. Am I missing something here too?

Why is it that every time I read Thomas Roberts' name on this thread alone, I read more about his sexual orientation than his overall talents. He's a very solidly talented and talented anchor and correspondant, and can be a great fill-in and (possibly a) weekend anchor.

When I first learned of that, I thought "Okay, cool. What's for dinner?"

I also wish we can stop discussing his sexuality and just say how good he is every once in a while. (Like me starting now...)

  4.

I Guess for now this makes him the Jack Benny of Philadelphia TV News.

But seriously, this man is Philadelphia TV News personified.

Always has been. Always is. Always will be.

These 39 (& more for sure) years prove it.

  5. StormTracker6 and The Traffic Maps both have new looks. Maybe a hint of new graphics coming?

I hope so; I'm starting to dislike the current set. And despise the L3s.

I just hope this next package will be better. We don't want another disaster with an ABC O&Os new graphics after what happened with WABC. I'm still recovering.

  6. WCAU snaked the Welcome America festivities from WPVI:

    http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Comcast-NBCUniversal-becomes-media-partner-in-Wawa-Welcome-America-festival-376752211.html

They now corner the market on the city's fireworks shows. WWSI will cover the events en español.

Aww man, that was my childhood. But I'm happy to still have something to watch on the 4th.

The next thing that NBC10 will take from WPVI is the Most Watched News title.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind it at all.

As much as I love Action News, WCAU has definitely improved in the past several years in all parts of its news input, and I really like what's being shown.

If anything, I'd help them brag across the Internet that they're number 1 If I wanted if/when this happen.

  7. Surprised CBS hasn't tried to snatch him up as CBS This Morning has never had a weather person. He could rekindle his bromance with Josh then too.

I think that's because TM makes it a given thing not to have weather segments (at least especially during weekdays) (unless of a severe national disaster-- snowstorms, El Ninos, hurricanes, what have you.

But that would be awesome, though.

  8. It's about time. The current(-but-not-for-long) set clearly aged terribly after all these years. I loved it when it debuted, but after all this time, I've wished for it to be gone ever since.

With a new set in the works upstairs, it shouldn't be far behind for a close sister station to the north to get one as well.

    Agreed. Their's aged even worse.

  9. I can think of at least a dozen ABC/ESPN/Disney-related stars off the top of my head that have participated in the past. There's generally 1 or 2 each season. Of course the show is going to be synergy-heavy.

Just so you know, I was being sarcastic in the first part. I can understand if you didn't read it that way.

  10. Usually I don't care much for DWTS (sometimes I do watch it), but I find this highly interesting. A personality on an ABC show competing on another ABC show. Seems like synergy at the highest (and obnoxious) level.

(Maybe Jimmy Kimmel could be next)

But I really like Ginger and think she's a perfectly nice and bubbly person, so I think I'd watch to see how she does.

My guess is she competes in the competition and goes back to her GMA gig full time when the season ends or when she gets eliminated. I didn't think they would let an ABC/Disney employee participate.

    Me neither.

I think during her stint in competition she does either a day doing weather in LA, or stays in New York before commuting to LA to continue competing.

Also, many other competitors have also done a commuting schedule from other places while competing on the show. It's grueling, but it happens.

  11. I agree. They should have let Nicolle and Rosie P. grow. Instead they hastily pulled the plug on them and it just added to the mess. Raven and Michelle's hiring was because of Whoopi, fwiw.

    I admit, I don't watch regularly anymore, but I'm glad I don't.

I miss Nicolle and Rosie Perez. They were really good as co-hosts and truly had potential.

Thanks to to drama and disasters from backstage, we'll never see that.

IMO, hiring Raven-Symone and Michelle is a huge mistake, as shown with the controversial moments both of them have shown. Clearly, Raven can't say something constructed and sensical and Michelle can't say something worth following or funny.

They have made some inroads with bringing Joy back and hiring Sara, Candace and Paula, along with some of the contributors, but The View isn't what it used to be.

I wish the producers luck in continually finding strong consistency and likability in this group, but for now (at least until the Fall), I won't see myself as a regular View-er.

  12. I wonder how much longer Robin will stick around at GMA? and who would be her replacement? I think she has another year or left. I could see her maybe leaving at the end of her contract but would not be surprise if she renewed her Contract. Prior to her MDS diagnostic she may have left in 2013 or 2017 however after her MDS battle I think that changed and could see her being there for several more years (at least 2020) .

I could see Amy replacing Robin when ever she leave eventually and I think they are grooming Amy for Anchor Chair. That would be my top pick. I know some are so arid they will choose Lara but at the end of the day I tihnk they would choose Amy over Lara when it comes down to it especially when it would be permanent.

Can we not do this, please?

Robin is the most beloved on the main team, and it never crossed anyone's mind on the staff and this forum on whether or not she would leave.

No one wants to say anything here until the time she makes it official.

  13. They're probably just going after

NBC10 because they think they have no chance at beating Action News.

It's not just that they think they'll beat Action News. It's that we all know they won't. Not even by half.

I don't think they're gonna even reach NBC10 because they have a more improved and much better news product to watch. CBS3 is getting better, but not enough to reach 10.
