1. Has anyone watched Good Morning Britain on ITV? Look at their beautiful open and how the music moves with the camera. It's glorious. Or at least I think so. What do you think?

I must say, I really like this programme. It's really good to watch for international news from an international source. And the open with the wide shot of central London and ITV HQ is simply awesome.

The original version of that theme was soooooo much better.

    I agree.

While I like this version, the last was way better. It had a booming, serious and authoritative sound and concept that worked to the programme's advantage, at least for it's first hour and half of the 7am hour. I'm fine with this version, but I question the producers' move in changing from it.

  2. I really like this new look, but I don't love it either.

-The open and L3s look great, but are a pretty bland mixed bag for me too.

While great, also look too meh to be mind-blowing or have much personality.

I like the ribbons open way more than the new one (which kinda remind me of the Today open too), but the new L3s are way better than the updated L3s.

-The set looks amazing, with a perfect touch of wood throughout.

I do think the desk is really bland, though. Doesn't have much personality to it with just a few vertical lights and a screen (I loved the last desk more). And it really does look like that desk

from years ago, which, in hindsight, looks fine to me now.

But I can't tell whether this new one is a step-up or something equal with that one.

But time will tell whether or not it'll grow on me.

Overall, this look is great, but for now aren't amazing to me.

Can't wait for the anniversary special.

  3. All of the anchors are coming back so yes you will see Lisa McRee and Kevin Newman. Its funny because I forgot about a few personalites like Mike Barz and JuJu Chang. Those years JuJu was on went by so fast.

Wow, I forgot about Juju Chang too.

She was there for about two years, so it was so easy for her tenure to slip our minds.

It'll be great to see her there too.

  4. I'm so excited for this event!!

40 hour livestream, many past anchors and personalities returning, a HUGE celebration to be held.

I so can't wait to check it out. Maybe even see Kevin Newman and Lisa McRee on national TV again.

  5. Whatever the case (I think it's reality augmentation, too), this is a brilliant implement to the already brilliant segment and really makes it more (to use another segment's name)

"Eye-Opening", attentive and amazing. I loved the "Headlines" segment since the start, but I love it even more because of it.

  6. Erica Hill is joined by an unexpected partner on Weekend Today this morning: Harry Smith.

It's been a long while since I've seen him anchor a program, and I'm very excited to see him behind a desk again.

And my fellow Early Show fans will enjoy this. (cough Daybreak cough)

  7. I will say on Pat is that she is one of the most professional and humble personalities I've had the pleasure of watching throughout my life. She's sweet, lovely and vivacious, yet smart, tough and extremely classy. She can surely make a newscast one to watch. She and Ukee were (and still are) one of the best TV pairing in Philadelphia TV history--Their chemistry was undeniable and fantastic.

Philadelphia (TV and in general) will certainly miss her. I will miss her.

I wish the best in her future endeavors and in retirement.

  8. It's already been reported that today's her last day. Who's been anchoring with Erika in the morning? Is it still two days solo and three days with Nicole?

Oh yeah, I forgot. I just heard from what Erica and Nicole said this morning.

Speaking of the mornings situation, it's Nicole.

I'm sure it's a schedule like that, but from the past few days I've watched, Erica was joined by Nicole.

  9. I don't know what GMA's problem is but whatever it is, they need to fix is fast or there are going to be bigger problems.

    http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/today-show-wins-full-month-in-the-a25-54-demo/273470

Ha. I don't think GMA is going to do anything crazy to gain back the A25-54 crown. Besides, it's still the leader in Viewers. And it's only been a month--GMA probably could take it back soon. Or Today could finally win some ratings marker in a while.

Give it time. We'll see from here.

  10. Today, the anchor would say:

"And tonight in California, hundreds of homes lost. Thousands more so close to those raging wild fires. The town of Santa Clarita hit hardest and ABC's Pierre Thomas in the middle of it all."

I really can't stand when anchors of news programs use the words "that" and "those" when referring to a story at the top. It kinda infuriates me when they say them as if it's something really bad, even if the story isn't something bad.

Even if/when the story is about a person or a thing, they use "that" or "those".

Also, they don't say "the"; not more than "that" or "those", or even just as much.

That's why I'm annoyed at this most of the time. Really can't stand it.

  11. ^^Great job with the video.

I love this new look. So soft and fuzzy, yet so serious and powerful. After watching this the first time, I immediately loved this one more than the last one. The logo and L3s are the best parts. Really fits the tone of this new era for Muir and his program.

I do realize that it does have a touch of Nightly News in it, especially in the globe map, "small loading text" and use of squares.

Other than that resemblance, this is a great update.

  12. new graphics debuted on ctm today

    they looked like this?

    screen-shot-2015-09-14-at-10-00-53-pm-png.2306

Wow, these look really nice. Took the bright color and gradients out for a flatter, simpler look. Good job there.

Although the placement of the title looks weird to me.

I like the wording as this:

    CBS

    THIS

    MORNING

    Overall, it's a great change.

  13. Brian Taff just announced that Sharrie Williams will be his co-anchor at 4pm and 10pm.

    Great! Took them long enough.

Well, that's the most logical choice. What took so long I wonder?

    I know, right? I mean...

Sharrie is a really good anchor/reporter and seems great enough for the job. Congrats to her for the promotion.

  14. I love this new look of Today.

    • The white colors and palette make it (obviously) much more brighter and clearer; it's like a window was covered up this whole time, and they finally released the curtain.

    ncs_today-show_02.jpg

The couch area is the best part. The whites show off the most, and and the subtle hint of orange make it so much better than under the look of the last design.

And, I'll be honest. I love and hate the new desk. I actually loved the last desk for how uniquely wooden it was, and how the logo looked etched in it. This one is really nice, but I felt some type of envy towards it. And when I first saw it, it looked like the colored part was a reddish color, other than orange. The Today logo looks really nice, and is a good reprise of the 2006 desk. And the smaller size is oddly nice.

    ncs_today-show_03.jpg

The Orange Room is very nice under the expansion. The white look is oddly cool, but there should've been some of the namesake color in there, which makes it odd.

Also, there are new on-screen graphics (other than the L3) which look really good.

At the end of the day, this new-look Today is so great. The look around is just perfect and reminds me fondly of the 2006 set, but without the sterility and dullness of it, thanks to the pops of Orange all around. I do think it needs a little more Orange in places of White, but other than that, it's awesome.

  15. Looks like the graphics will be a bit more subdued. Less reds and yellows and more blue and whites. The music sounds the same, although I wish they went back to using the updated theme they used at the beginning of last season. As for the set... I'm guessing that they're probably building a bigger desk, and maybe fixing some of the background elements on both sides of the video wall.

I liked the changes made at the beginning of the season: Nicolle, Rosie P., Rosie O's return (yes, even thar), the new set, and the updated theme. I wish that theme stayed, and tha Nicolle never left, but I'm looking forward to Joy's return and what this new season will bring.

Here's a sample of the 2014 theme that I was talking about...

And I loved this version of the theme. Miles more than the one they used for seven seasons.

So smooth, so catchy and so awesome.
