The open reminds me of the same one used on wccb in Charlotte. at :22 seconds.
WOLO and WCCB are owned by the same company Bahakel Communications.

Evrod Cassimy is leaving WDIV after 9 years and is heading to WMAQ in Chicago later this year.

Well Evrod Cassimy maybe his replacement. He will be joining WMAQ later in the year as an anchor.

This sounds like what Nexstar did with WJZY “Queen City News.” I do wished they would have kept the call letters because the issue with WGCL is branding. It’s not consistent. But I am excited to see where this station is going.

So glad they used this theme which felt more complete than the Scott Pelley years theme.

I love the news desk! I'm glad they chose not to do the trendy standing anchor desk! Something about them make me so uncomfortable/unease

I am assuming we will get another set similar to WFLA.

Rob Marciano is going through a divorce. That’s probably the reason he’s been M.I.A on GMA weekend.

Shiba Russell is leaving WXIA 11Alive after 6 years.
Shiba Russell signed off for the last time at WXIA 11 Alive. I have a feeling she will be a network correspondent in the DC area or an anchor in Philly. Sad to see her go. Atlanta viewers seemed to have taken a liking to Ms Russell. Best of luck to her!

Mark made it clear in multiple interviews he’s done with the biz, in addition to that he sent his message across stating that he will NEVER forgive her and forget what went down.
WOW...I did not know he said that. Oh well!

Mark has hinted that he and Jim never had a particularly close bond, and with Jim's close relationship with Cheryl, and being the one to benefit from Mark's dismissal, I'm not too surprised that there's no love lost between them.
Mark is going out kind of sad. At this point, move on. Even though "ditsy" might not seem enough to be fired over however, we do not know the working relationships he had at WLS with his colleagues. Some of our favorite On-Air Talent can be difficult behind the scenes. Also I don't feel as station management protected Cheryl enough. It's been what... 2 years? I always felt stationed management seized on the opportunity to skim off some budget by getting rid of Mark. Also I wonder from a competitor standpoint, is Mark hirable? Would WMAQ, WGN, WFLD or WBBM would want to take a chance on him with these antics? (In this day and age, it's probable)

I mean what was also unexpected was Monica Pearson jumping ship from WSB and going to WGCL. Trust, it may have been rare for WSB to do that, but Coxpollo has no loyalties.
Though, Karyn has staying power and a following and has been on Atlanta airwaves for decades. She's been a main weeknight anchor before at two different stations. She also has a history of being like a younger Monica in terms of her giving back to the community and her philanthropic projects. She's also hosted a radio show like Monica. So honestly this was a smart move for WSB, and she's more than earned her dues to move up to the number 1 station in their number 1 chair.
Brenda Wood of WXIA said it best in the Rodney Ho article about Karyn, saying she was the most veteran anchor in Atlanta TV right now. That's not being facetious. She's been there since 1989, that's the most veteran news anchor in Atlanta TV right now. Everyone else has retired or died off. Jeff Hullinger at WXIA doesn't count because he was sports for longer than he was a news anchor.
Oh I agree with her deserving the spot! I have been noticing a trend in the past couple of years where powerhouse stations are hiring from the competitors. Back in the day it was never that way, maybe the 2nd or 3rd place station hiring a personality from a 1st place. Again, Karyn is a staple in Atlanta Television and this is an excellent move.

Say what you will about WSB-TV & WGCL-TV and it looks like another Atlanta icon changing stations. Karyn Greer who been at both WGCL & WXIA. She heading
over to WSB-TV.
WOW, that was definitely unexpected. Congrats to her though! It's rare that WSB will add someone from a last place station in the market even with her rich Atlanta History.

Report: Brian Williams turns down CBS Evening News. Looks like the writing could be on the wall for Norah.
All this during contract talks with Norah and CBS...yikes! But this is definitely not surprising from CBS. The Evening News is like a death sentence for journalist.

What's really funny is, the people that blame Cheryl should really go after management for Giangreco firing. Cheryl filed a complaint to HR which is well in her right to do so. She didn't like the comment, and frankly like I said about a year ago, we don't know what happened behind the scenes for this to transpire. It's unfortunate but Giangreco like many other is well on his way to finding his footing again on tv/radio. I wish people would move on. Once he was put on leave, I felt management used this opportunity to slash a salary for someone who frankly was on his last contract with the station anyway.
