  1. Rhonda Walker has been itching to get Carmen's job. Many Detroiters would say Ruth wanted Carmen's job. Lila wanted Ruth's job and Rhonda wanted Lila's job. However, Rhonda Walker has been

itching to get Carmen's job, but it seems that Kimberly is the ideal candidate, but we should see how it all will play out. I wonder if they would move Karen Drew to morning news/noon. Rhonda at 4,5 and Kimberly at 6/11.

I can see Rhonda do the 4 and 6 and Kimberly the 5 and 11. How long has Rhonda been doing mornings anyway?

  2. So sad to hear. She is one of the greats in the market. She will be missed definitely. :-(

Wow. When I first saw this, I thought she was just going to scale back her hours. I wonder who is going to replace her. The Kimberly Gill hire is making so much sense now.

  3. WMBF news anchor Michael Maely was arrested this past weekend for DUI and speeding around 100 m.p.h. He was off for this past week. This is the second time he's ran into the law. The first time he was charged with trespassing while doing a story but I believe those charges were dropped.

  4. There's a new chief meteorologist at CBS 11 (KTVT) and his name is Scott Padgett. Five months after Larry Mowry left for Chicago (WLS-TV), the station decided that instead of a nationwide search for Larry's replacement; they chose Scott to take the helm as lead weatherman for the stations 5, 6 & 10PM newscasts. Padgett joined KTVT three years ago this month as the new morning meteorologist replacing Garry Seith (now at KSDK).

Congrats. He's a friend of mines and I'm glad CBS hired within with him.

  5. It's been 3 days.

    Three. Days.

    Just saying.

Yeah I know but at the same time they had a bit of a test run for a couple of years now and in most cases, not all, the chemistry is already there that's all. It just feel like he was thrown in there (kinda feel like they haven't rehearsed at all, they just said action on Tuesday).

  6. This 3 Anchor format is not working for a few reason.

    1) like already stated, they don't look comfortable. It looks forced and also Michael doesn't looks like he likes being there for the opening either.

    2) His interactions with guests seem weird. He doesn't seem relax

    3) When David was on Tuesday presenting his interview with Donald, he looked annoyed to answer Michaels questions. Which is understandable because he isn't a real journalist.

I'm surprise the bosses at GMA let him even do the serious topics. When Robin was out 3 years ago, they always let the non news personalities host the 2nd lighter hour, which I thought they were going to do with Michael.

As of right now GMA f'ed up big time and I think they all know it. Like I said in a previous post, I give it until December and then, January they will phase him out and give him a new position to satisfy the contract obligation. I think they saw how Michael was a big draw for Live and assume he would be a big draw here but when the Kelly fiasco happened his draw wasn't the same. If GMA wanted the Josh 2.0, they should have picked Jesse. Both Jesse and Amy chemistry is very well together. Heck even TJ Holmes chemistry is better than Michael.

  7. That makes so much sense.

Why would Michael leave a talk show with a studio audience...only to join another talk show with a studio audience? Even under the GMA name?

    So baffling.

Maybe this is why Kelly was worried about Live. It seems like she probably knew what GMA was planning and if this experiment worked out, it would replace her show. Because essentially it seems like the same show. Still if I was Michael I would have not taken this offer because if it does fail, then he would be no use to GMA. He isn't the best teleprompter reader, he gets tounge tied a lot (not fault of his own but the gap) and his interviews are a hit and miss. That's why I always say don't let money completely motivate you on accepting a job because it is so much more than that. I give this experiment at least til December. If it doesn't hurt the ratings then it is something you'll see on GMA for a couple of years if it does however, we will have a send off for Michael by January where they'll give him a new BS title but he isn't on the show full time anymore. Time will tell.

  8. If they get rid of Al now, ratings will crash and NBC needs to try and hold on to the momentum they got from the Olympics. They don't need another Ann fiasco on there hands. It took them 4 years to get back in a place where people started watching them again. But something in that article makes me think they are not going to do too much because of the last line when they talked about the great ratings. Let's face it, Ryan lied and is getting rewarded for it by joining Dancing with the Stars. I hate that people think this is the time for him to have a redemption story. If I was him, I would have stayed out the spotlight for a while until the next big scandal. Time heals old wounds better than anything else.

  9. It's cause they did not want their Olympics to look bad by beliving that Lochte was not lying and NBC/Comast has a stake with Lochte. They were the ones that helped him in launching his own reality show on E! So him lying about this hurts NBC's PR cause technically he is extended member of the Comcast/NBC brand.

Most of these desk job hacks on NBC lost their intergrity for the sake of television, being a personality and sucking up to tv bosses. Remember when Hoda Kotb used to be a journalist. Lauer is no exception and he was never in Gumbel's level he is psuedo journalist who rode on Gumbel's success. He was a journeyman host who got his big break on NBC by having a good agent, with a little rise in ratings he believed in his hype but in reality it was Katie Couric and Meredith Viera who made Matt more appealing then he was. I've never seen Lauer do any real indepth journalistic reporting since he has been the top anchor. All of his work has been fluffy pillow segments and scripted questions.

I've been saying this for years about Matt. Both Katie and Meredith carried Matt making him think it's all him. When Ann came in, he was on his on and instead of putting blame on both of them, they singled Ann out. Yes she wasn't the best but the way the situation played out it hasn't quite gotten back to where it once was.

  10. This could be me over analyzing but David Muir looks annoyed co hosting GMA for the past few days. He comes off more dry than George which I never thought I'll see. It is understandable though as he is normally by himself on the evenings

  11. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/entertainment/tv/media-scene-blog/article93287807.html

WBTV's new Morning Break show which I posted about earlier will be an hour and it will replace Flip My Food and Fix It and Finish it, which apparently got cancelled. They had previously renewed the shows for 2 more years. Smart of WBTV to expand local programming instead of spending for more syndicated fare.

I kinda knew the signs for Fix it and Finish it demised once Antonio Sabato Jr. was at the RNC last month. He himself said he thought he was blackballed because of that. Whether that had to do with the show cancelation, time will tell. I for one kinda like the show.

  12. I'm watching Jesse today on GMA and he would be perfect replacement for George. I think ABC f'ed up with hiring Michael. My dream team would be Amy, Jeff TJ Holmes (news reader) and Ginger and Sara Haines.

  13. This is cool but I still feel he's doing this until his non compete clause is up. Then in 6 months to a year he'll end up at another station (preferably WGN or WBBM). Don't get me wrong the concept is sorta unique but it has been already done numerous times and it never seems to connect with an audience. I just don't see a future in this.

  14. To me, the only way for a news personality to come on The View is to be the moderator like Meredith was. In most cases you can really be neutral and let the panelists discuss the topic and you chime in to bring it all together to move on to the next topic. If you're not the moderator then you are treading in deep waters. I like Paula but I knew she wouldn't have worked out to well for this show. I'm surprise ABC even allowed her to be a panelists. I guess lesson learned.

But Jedediah is perfect for the show. Also Sarah Haynes isn't so bad her self even though she's a "journalist." Hopefully they let both Raven and Candance go as well. Candance always seem scared to voice her opinion since she's sitting next to Whoppi. Yes Whoppi could be intimidating but come on girl speak your mind. I used to love Raven as an actress. Knowing her in this format doesn't do her any justice. I just hate that someone who I admired for not being a "Disney child star curse"actually is one. In Tyra Bank voice "I was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you" and she had to screw it up.

  15. Well another lawsuit has been filed for sexual harassment from an employee from their boss. The logistics of this case is somewhat similar to Gretchen's from Fox News but in this case, it is a male accusing Armstrong Williams of sexually harassing him (grouping and fondling). The article also mentioned that Armstrong was accused of sexual harrasment in 1997 but settled out of court.

P.S. I read some more articles about Williams first harassment claims and the current one is very similar to the previous situation.

  16. According to Tvspy, Chris Flanagan is moving to Boston to become the weekend evening co-anchor at WFXT. This makes way for Rob Powers to transition as the new anchor. Chris starts in September in Bean town.
