  1. WCCB in Charlotte has had that bizarre "WCCB News Edge" at 10:35p for as long as I remember. You'd think once WJZY launched, they'd ditch that concept to compete head to head with WSOC's 10pm show on WAXN and WJZY as well.

Well don't they have a regular 10 p.m. newscast and the News Edge follows after.

  2. The proper props?

I'll say what no one else will say. There is nothing better about her or Dana than your average anchor. She or Dana have done nothing to improve the ratings and have been lucky they haven't been canned over the years.

Yeah you're right, she's lucky to have a job.

  3. Yeah, but Cindy's been demoted a lot during her tenure at WCBS. I'm pretty sure she anchored weekday mornings in the late 90s. She's also anchored the noon and 5pm news at WCBS so it's nothing new, I guess she really doesn't mind.

WCBS didn't know what to do with Cindy. She's an excellent anchor that just never got her proper props. At this stage in her career she might as well stay. I don't think any other stations see a need for her their but maybe this is best for her. I heard she had some health issues, this might be her choice.

  4. All the NBC O&Os schedules are practically identical. Philly, DC, Miami, and CT all are on east coast, and all do 11am.

When LA moved thier's from noon to 11am, it was only announced on short notice. Same with Chicago back when that happen.

So while it may not happen, the reasons you offer are not on point and make no sense whatsoever.

All I was trying to say is that it is highly unlikely WNBC will do an 11 am just because the others O&Os have one. It just seems like everyone else wants the 11 a.m. so bad making it seem like they saw a press release or something. I also know that they are noon broadcast on the west and central zones. That's why I said MANY meaning not all.

  5. Let me say this now. WNBC is not doing an 11 a.m. broadcast. The only reason the other stations have one because of their schedule. Many on the west coast and central don't have a noon broadcast. So let stop with this rumor of 11 a.m.

  6. It is due to the response of the rise of CBS This Morning which has 3 anchor people. CBS TM is the biggest dark horse and viewers are tuning more to CBS . Having seven people at one table is just cluster mess . People don't need weather people on the Today show anymore cause people can get their weather through their local stations and weather apps. They can also cut costs by getting rid of the weather person and turn to the resources of the Weather Channel and the affliate people. Instead of getting Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer to cover the weather. I always believe that Al and Dylan have glorified welfare jobs. Once Natalie Morales moves on to her new job, I don't think we will see the newsreader anymore.

The newsreader position is going to be gone. As much people trying to downplay, CBS This Morning really shaped the way Today and GMA is changing. Just two years ago, it was all about soft news but now everyone is focusing on hard news. I still think CBS is going to become a second place finisher in the near future.

  7. Well good for Ben. I always liked him. He should do well in Bean Town. It seems like Boston is finding a liking to picking NY Talents. It almost seems like the talent that are being underutilized in their respective area.

Side note: Every time I open the WNYW thread, I hope its for them getting a new set. This thread is such a tease :D:D:D

  8. we will probably be stuck with Tamron Hall now when Savanna goes on Maternity Leave! NAtalie w3il be in Los Angeles by then. Hopefully they have Hoda filling in most weeks during those 3 Months and Tamron only fills in occasionally.

I was thinking the same thing. I use to be a big fan of Tamron but not too much as of lately. She's always giddy and grinning for no apparent reason at all. I still holding out hope HODA will become the anchor one day but I think Savannah is going to be there for years to come. The only announcement I'm waiting for is for Matt Lauer and Al Roker to finally step down and leave. They have worn out their welcome.

  9. Yes. I'm glad they brought back the 11 a.m. newscast. The only sour grape is that Sylvia will not be apart of the newscast this time around. But who knows what WLS have up there sleeves. They might bring her back but that's a big might.

  10. I'm glad he landed somewhere but that's a big drop. I thought Shiba's drop was big from NY to ATL but Chris is way bigger. His former co anchor Jessica left KARK there for KYW and he's going there ( KATV). Either markets don't mean nothing any more or the bigger markets are not hiring them. Even Rob is going down a lot of markets but for some reason I don't see it as a demotion compare to the other two. Best of luck to him.

  11. Sorry, but your comments are coming off to me as paranoid and slightly homophobic. I've yet to see any proof that Roberts has some "agenda" to push is "gay agenda" over the airwaves or secretly overthrow Lester. Careful how he presents himself? Roberts isn't some stereotypical flamboyant, Modern Family-like, Ru Paul's Drag Race-like gay person. He's a reporter doing his job.

Anderson Cooper never used his sexuality to push agendas because Cooper has no agenda to push. Roberts promoted himself as the first gay man to anchor a broadcast (big point there) evening newscast because he is and he took pride in that, so what? It's not like he won't shut the hell up about it. Lester is the first black man to anchor a broadcast evening newscast and Katie Couric was the first woman. Other people made a big deal out of it, even if they themselves did not.

I assure you, if Roberts starts acting "too gay" on TV, or viewers start complaining about it, he and NBC News will know and do something about it.

It's much ado about nothing. Get back to me when Kim Kardashian starts reporting or anchoring news!

Max Robinson was the first African American to be an evening anchor. Yes it was more of a rotation anchor team but he was technically the first. I will say that I don't see anything wrong with Roberts claiming to be the first openly gay man to anchor an evening network broadcast (even though there some discrepancy about that but that's another story).

  12. Have to say I told you so, but it's official. Rob Powers will become the new co-anchor for WEWS NewsChannel 5 at 6 & 11PM. No word on when Chris Flanagan will remain at Cleveland's ABC affiliate, and now word on who will replace Rob as sports director at ABC O&O in NYC.

    http://www.newsnet5.com/about-us/newschannel-5-welcomes-anchor-rob-powers-back-home-to-cleveland

Everyone hired from the previous news director to help improve the ratings has about left. They ripped up an established morning team (Pete and Kimberly) for two anchors who didn't make much of a dent in the ratings who are now replaced (Mike Dundst left for Atl). Chris came and they even moved legendary anchor Leon off the 6 for him.

  13. WGN Morning News has been in the media yet again with this Kelly Rowland interview. I saw WGN's article about the interview and so I decided to watch. They basically called her stuck up and rude toward them in the article but what I saw and what was written was the complete opposite. The only reason for the pauses was because it was one of those Satellite interviews. And honestly it seem like they didn't do there research on Kelly but mainly on you guess it Beyonce. Yes I know Beyonce is the bigger draw but come on. You knew why she was there. Let's not act like they wasn't in the wrong as well. If I'm not mistaken, isn't this the second interview in a year span that they did a satellite interview that didn't go well. I think it was Kara Deveine when she was promoting Paper Towns. I may be wrong and it could have been another station. I think it was unfair of them to just blame Kelly when they did the social media segment of the show. Then they invited her back. Who says she's coming back? WGN PR on the job for you.

    (Sorry for the mini rant)

  14. Well he doesn't necessarily owe Kelly anything and technically he told her before the official announcement was made regardless of how long before he did it. She's not his boss or his immediate supervisor. If his bosses told him to keep quiet about it then that's what he should do. Also how plausible is it that one network show was taking a personality from another and Gelman/Kelly seriously heard nothing about it? Does anyone on here actually watch LIVE? It's not nearly as good as it was when they teamed up 4 years ago. She treats him more like a sidekick than a cohost. Doesn't LIVE go on a hiatus during the summer time? Everyone has their opinions on how this has been planned and carried out, and none of you guys in reality have any clue. I'm seriously not seeing the big deal, he announced that he's leaving one show on the same network technically for another. What is the harm in this? The chemistry between him and the GMA people has blossomed and is pretty good. Read social media, most trending topics are people voicing their grievances regarding how disappointed they are in Kelly for not being there today for Michael.

Lastly, GMA is obviously not going to be a strictly news program anytime soon. The most prosperous periods in the shows history have been when they've been a good mix between news and entertainment. Therefore there will be a place for Michael for a long time to come. A few reports are that Robin, George and Michael will become the face of the program and are safe. Which means Amy, Ginger or Lara could be in danger.

Relax it was just the PR. I still think he could have gave her more of a heads up. Granite he doesn't owe her anything but if you are going to be there for a few more months then he could've told her. If she become sour than let her. She's human. I'm sick of people always saying its the business. But when it isn't happening to you its different. I've been put in a similar position, on a much smaller scale. Its hurtful and I don't blame her not being there today. Because people were ready to see there reaction and even if she was supportive it would still be a store about how it's all fake. Its a damned if you do, damned if you don't for both in this situation.

  15. Like I said in the Chat box. This isn't turning out good. People are confused and upset (including me). This is what happens when the higher ups say hey let's get Michael and bring him to GMA, offer him a lot of money and keep this hush hush. It was a bad PR move from every angle. I still believe Michael is going to be Josh 2.0 and get lost in oblivion in the next 2 years. I don't see how he will be there long. You know how morning shows are. To me Lara and Michael positions are not permenant. If the show decides in 2 years, let's focus on hard news. Well what's the point of both Lara and Michael.

  16. This is a not so smart move in my opinion. I think this is more of a money thing than anything because I wouldn't leave a show that's at least have another 5 years if more for a position at GMA they could essentially get rid of if the show goes into a different direction. Don't become Josh 2.0 which I think they are doing.

  17. There's soon going to be an anchor change in Cleveland's WEWS ABC 5. IT'S NO APRIL FOOL'S JOKE!

It's not a done deal, but word is that Sports Director/Anchor Rob Powers of New York's WABC-TV is heading to Cleveland to succeed Chris Flanagan who's contract is not renewed. Powers who was hired at ABC flagship station in New York worked in Ohio before, he was the 5:30PM news anchor and 6 & 11PM sports anchor at WTVG in Toledo. WEWS can't say on Flanagan's future with the station, but look for something soon.

    http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/4/1/wabc-sports-anchor-heading-to-cleveland-for-news

Now this is the same Chris that they moved legendary anchor Leon off the 6 p.m. newscast for a few years ago so Chris could anchor the 6 and 11 p.m. news instead of only anchoring the latter for the first couple of years. To me he wasn't that good but he was the former news director hire. She fired and moved a lot of people who worked their for years around to get ratings and they still suffer ( hence her getting fired). She blew up the morning team and for two new people who unfortunately left as well.

  18. I'm laughing reading this thread. It seems like everyone hates Erika and when I was on the "I don't like Erika" train a few years ago people thought I was crazy. (That's not the case now however. I've grown very fond of her.) Hopefully she lands somewhere good because I really want to see her on tv.

  19.

Kinda saw this coming after it was rumored Willie will take over Sunday Today. It took me some years but I've grown to like Erika. I know this is a shock for some who remember she wasn't my favorite when they CBS revamp the Early Show in 2011 but that's the pass haha. I wonder if CNN/HLN will swoop her up again. Time will tell. One thing for sure a lot of changes are happening at NBC...

  20. Morgan Chesky debuted last night as the new weekend co-anchor for KOMO TV in Seattle no clue what happened to previous co-anchor Russ Bowen.

Russ is at WNCN now as a morning anchor
