Seems like a demotion but the framing that it was her decision to step away from the day to day and establish herself more like a Barbara Walters or Diane Sawyer for CBS is somewhat plausible. Interesting that there was no leak or speculation about this before the announcement. I thought they’d stick with her long term given the demands she made and their willingness to accept them i.e., moving the show to DC.
-
Agreed with the above. Dumping Scott Pelley was a bad move, at the very least pointless. Absolutely nothing has changed from the time they hurried on from him. Feel somewhat similarly regarding Jeff Glor.
-
Shouldn’t be shocked to see this given EN patterns since Dan Rather but damn this is surprising. She was never that great behind the desk but they made an investment in her and the show moving down to DC so I thought they’d stick with her. If you’re going to revamp the show every 3-5 years then you might as well implement a rotating anchor format.

Is the 4pm an hour long as well? They already do an hour at 5 and now an hour at 6. -
As a consumer of a metric ton of NBA I really don’t like the Amazon streaming option, or any other streaming option for that matter. I hope WBD can come out successful in this.
-
Where are you seeing this confirmed? I’ve only seen the NBA’s statement that they’re reviewing.
-
More generally, how is WBBM doing in the ratings race? I like to see them putting in some effort to stand out again.
-
That window shot is so cool. For all of their woes, WBBM has done great with this and their last CBS mandated set. What they did to the 2008 set at the end was criminal.

No one is bigger fan of Good Morning America as a television institution than I am. I’ve watched avidly since the early days of Charlie, Diane, Robin and Tony. My family as a whole has watched it almost as a morning ritual since the 80s. It’s not just an opinion. The show in its current iteration is garbage. I wouldn’t point to ratings given the show has bled nearly 3 million viewers over the last several years and shows no signs of slowing.
-
Will be interesting to see how they adapt the look for a street side studio. Unless they don’t actually plan to make use of the windows.
-
Yeah the chemistry is very wooden between the two of them. I didn’t feel like it was that great with Lori either.

GMA has gotten decisively worse each year for the last few years. The first 15 minutes of the show are typically pretty good but today at 7:16 they did a report on a Taylor Swift concert in London. The show is dog sh*t these days.

I get that it’s summer vacation season but bringing in help with 5 full time meteorologist is something.

It’s pretty bad. The building itself is a Soviet looking warehouse just outside of downtown Dallas. They have to have some sort of long term plan for updating that space. -

Nothing new for Steve Eager, he’s allowed his own commentary to bleed into the news for quite a while now. Similar to what Bill Ritter does at WABC. In both instances the hubris of Steve and Bill to assume viewers care about their opinions rather than just the news is off the charts. -
David Faber is reporting it. You can take that to the bank.

ABC changing their logo; New graphics coming for ABC owned stations

Yeah not sure I understand all the bemoaning. Was there confusion on what a station group mandate was? -
If Ernie and Chuck aren't both joining then they should just move on with a new studio show. Ernie has already said he isn’t moving. Nothing in sports comes close to how great Inside the NBA is.
-
Where exactly would he go at the network? It’s not like they have an obvious open vacancy and he’s likely just fine in his current role.
-
Well two of the show’s arguably most critical personalities have already said they aren’t continuing on any other network but TNT. Ernie and Charles have said they’re out if NBA leaves TNT. The Tuesday crew is equivalent to the boring ESPN studio show too so not much they can do as replacement options on a new network either.
-
Goodness. This is unbelievable.
-
Was just thinking about what becomes of “Inside the NBA” if Turner loses rights. I don’t see it being the same great show it is on NBC or ESPN (where they’d easily work them to death as Chuck has joked).
-
I think the strength of the Super Bowl, SNF, MNF on ESPN/ABC, NBA playoffs, etc. will help maintain a sizable portion of live sports broadcasting on linear for at least the foreseeable future.

When was the last time Sam Champion was on EWN This Morning? He’s been on GMA as a 6th host since early March with Brittany and Dani handling 4:30-7am. Not sure if he’s been on 10am but when I’ve tuned in it’s typically Dani.
