What exactly did they do with that column back in the day? It’s always been there but I don’t remember all of these attempts to disguise it before. The techniques they’ve tried the last few iterations have all been somewhat distracting.

The small details matter! I’m very pleased to see that WABC is using an alternate talent intro for Friday 6pm shows that feature Sam Ryan instead of Ryan Field.

WABC might be one of the most sensational and flashy local news stations I’ve seen outside of the Sunbeam operations. It’s not a bad thing or a knock, the format and style fits WABC perfectly.

^ mostly agree with this. Not to belabor the point but is there a theory to WABC’s approach? I remember being shocked at the 2005 set and their graphics. You’d think the top station would have a more ambitious on-air presentation especially since the other O&Os in the group were mostly always solid.

Channel 7’s format is flashy, maybe even obnoxious. In contrast, their on-air presentation has always been one-dimensional. Feels like it’s by design.

I actually like the talent stings for EWN@10am. They’re dynamic without the chaos.

I don’t like the talent opens very much. The opens themselves are dynamic but adding the still images of talent looks off to me. I wonder if videos would be too much. 

With a noticeably weaker voice. David also handling a bulk of the stories.

Yep the cityscape backdrops on set have been updated too.

Yeah on this id rather see GMA update their gfx away from the heavy blue and yellow look. 

Opening looks great and they made the music work perfectly.

This package will be a massive step up from their old look which I always assumed was in house.

Very interesting choice for co-anchor. I’m pretty sure NFL Sunday films in LA so he’ll be doing the trek back to NYC weekly.

The business channels were always geared more for trading floors and c-suite types. This doesn’t surprise me.

Similar to what WRC has done and what I believe WNBC plans to do with WNJU in NYC.

I don’t find her annoying at all but she’s a bit weaker behind the desk than I expected when she arrived a few years ago. Haven’t watched much lately.

I’m of the opinion that they should just drop the “news” element from the show entirely if they won’t produce it live. It’s hard to tell the difference between live and prerecorded editions of the third hour of Today because their content isn’t largely based on real time current events. 

I’m sure I’m annoying but I wish ABC would consider bringing GMA3 a live element. Most days the news “updates” they provide at the top of the show are hours old with new critical updates not included in the story. Today they’re rebroadcasting a show from November that included nearly two month old developments and updates on the Israel-Hamas conflict and wildfires out west. Not trying to be hyperbolic about it but it’s a sloppy product.

Sheesh that looks incredible.

Most times holiday schedules wouldn’t warrant this much attention but WABC’s seems to be more chaotic than any other year for them with anchor changes impacting the day shows.

Without getting into the 6th met thing, I do think Sam could be stepping down soon given the scale down in his on-air duties.

Is it widely known that Alan Krashesky did weather for at least at one point for WLS? Found it on a random clip from YouTube from Christmas Day 1983. 
 

I don’t disagree with any of this but again these shows have built their strengths on the viewers connections to the personalities. It’s an unreasonable expectation to document childbirths, marriages and illnesses but demand privacy for divorce, absences, etc.

For all those following the holiday musical chairs at channel 7, make sure you tune in at 11pm for a rare appearance not seen that often since 2011.

I’ve reached the point where I don’t want to hear anything about these 4 ever again lol.
