SIAP but I like them using a different talent open that features just Shirleen, Mike and Dani today since Sam is not on Fridays.
It’s small and insignificant but it always annoyed me that EWN This Morning used the talent opens with Sam on Fridays.
-
So did I. I guess this just makes it officially official although Mark hasn’t appeared in his regular capacity on GMA in over a year.

I think KTLA Morning News and WGN Morning News may take umbrage witht his comment.
It would be unwarranted because there’s nothing to take offense to in anything I said. Those two shows are not what WABC is looking to do at 10am.

What makes you say that? It's been on the air for one day.
It wasn’t necessarily meant as a critique of the show by any means, just that these “looser” newscast experiments tend to revert back to more traditional formats after some time.
When it was announced I said something along the lines that they could show a replay of the 6am hour at 10am and still do well.
-
To be entirely honest I could very well see them reverting this newscast to their more traditional EWN format sooner than later. An extra hour of standard EWN at 10 might feel like overkill but it would be successful no doubt.

I mostly liked what I saw this morning but they were definitely channeling Rosanna and GDNY with their Adams interview. Shirleen, Mike and Sam took turns finishing a few of his answers for him.

Today had a mascot that they launched shortly after a Olympics maybe 6 years ago
IIRC it was a dog right? That’s at least better than an actual mascot.

I thought I was crazy this morning but Heather definitely wasn’t in the same studio. The lighting was pretty bad wherever she was.
It was reported here last week that Brittany would do 4:30-6 with Sam doing 6-7, 10am and Noon.

An interesting move by DFW’s KTVT to replace the 6pm news with Jeopardy. The news will move to their secondary channel.

They should differentiate it but let’s be honest, any newscasts from WABC is going to be successful. New Yorkers turn on channel 7 in the morning and seemingly keep it locked until the end of the day.

I like it, great opportunity for Brittany.

Amazing to me that This Week performs as well as it does with their sloppy anchor lineup with George, Martha and Jon rotating weeks.
Todd just doesn’t have the gravitas to helm MTP, never did. We’ll see if Kristen does.

I think this looks great. Reminds me of KTRK’s early 2000s look.

Normally yeah it ends at noon, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't do coverage. We're in the streaming days it doesn't have to be broadcast anymore they read the names every year and they've done that since the 1st anniversary, I wouldn't be surprised if they decide ehh we need the revenue, stream it online. It's like if we had TV during Pearl Harbor the Hawaii stations would do coverage for every anniversary for 20 years but then the next generation comes that won't even care unless they learn it in school and most of the families by now who lost loves one's in Pearl Harbor will themselves be old or dying and their descendants won't even care too much because they weren't alive and it was a long time ago. But again every 9/11 anniversary is almost the same why do they need to do coverage every year? It's been 21 years almost 22, I can understand a milestone anniversary like the 20th or the 25th but the next generation will learn it in school or online and descendants of 9/11 victims are not going to have a severe emotional connection it's been long ago that children who lost there fathers now have kids of there own and those kids unless there parents always bring up there grandparents are not gonna care. And kids who dont have relatives who were unalived on 9/11 they're not gonna pay attention and listen to every name of every person that died. The World Trade Center, Washington’s Pentagon, and Shanksville Somerset County, PA killed 2,977 people, that's 2,977 names the future generation isn't gonna want to listen to those names for 3 hours straight.
I don’t see this happening with the NYC stations. There are still so many profound and noticeable impacts of 9/11 all throughout the city some 22 years ago. We’re a long ways off from it becoming a non-event at least in this region. Also consider that the POTUS, VP, state senators, various other dignitaries attend the events. That alone is going to warrant dedicated coverage.

Seems like succession planning on the weather front more than anything. Jeff remaining on weekend evenings is not an insult to him or his tenure, their weekend PM teams are easily the most respected newscasts outside of the weekday evening broadcasts.
EWN at 5 just promoted tomorrow’s show with Mike in the graphic. Was an official announcement ever made?

i don’t think Rosanna is biased at all I think she’s a great journalist, she’s trying to speak off experience as she’s a restaurant owner herself, she’s trying to present it in a way a New Yorker would do if that was there restaurant that could be affected same thing applies to congestion pricing.I respectfully but entirely disagree with this. Rosanna’s commentary and interview segments are borderline egregious in terms of bias. Her job at Fox5 is to report the news. It’s not to be an advocate for the restaurant industry of which she has a very clear conflict of interest as a partner in her her family’s restaurant. Especially because she goes out the way to explain how certain actions by the city government might be harmful to her family’s business. It’s unbecoming of a news anchor to brazenly advocate against things that might impact their personal business endeavors.

Can you tell me more about the 11pm Liz rule?
I hope Toni Yates gets Mike's spot on the weekends.
Since moving off of the 11pm news 10 years ago, Liz has rarely filled in at 11 and Sade is never on at 6. Not a big deal in the slightest but an observation I’ve noticed as well. It’s especially noticeable when they bring in Sandra, Joe or David for 6pm or 11pm despite Sade being there or vice versa at 11pm when Liz is there. FWIW, Sade seemingly didn’t anchor solo until very recently and she’s just as strong solo as she is with anyone else.
Toni would almost seem like a lock. She and Michelle have great chemistry and she’s been the primary fill-in weekend mornings going back years.

Agree that the 75th anniversary specials have been really nice to see. Some great footage of Grimbsy, Beutel, Johnson, and Williams days. I’m harsh on the EWN style they use but the history of WABC cannot be denied.

It’s funny because before moving to NYC a few years ago I hadn’t noticed this about Rosanna in the instances I streamed WNYW. Was this her style on the evening beat or have they just recently given her more liberty?
-
Yeah, Rosanna is especially vocal anytime a story about restaurant regulation comes up. It’s particularly egregious because her family owns Fresco by Scotto in midtown east. No idea why Fox 5 seemingly doesn’t have an issue with blatant bias.

I still maintain that Savannah Guthrie is one of the weakest anchors in Today’s history BUT she really shines as part of NBC’s breaking news coverage given her legal background.

I think it looks pretty damn good for a virtual set. Impressive work by NBC.

It makes sense to sideline Alicia for a period of time. Other than in reference to her show’s absence I don’t think it’s necessary for them to report on anything beyond the facts of the case. Alicia isn’t implicated in any of the legal charges against her father.
