Houston isn’t that attractive of a city. Most southern cities aren’t attractive enough to pull in people at the pay they’re offering.

    Excuse me?

  2. I’d like them to come to some solution sooner than later. Radar and Variety are reporting that GMAers don’t want Amy and TJ back. We shall see what happens but Rhiannon Ally and DeMarco Morgan are making a nice competitive pairing as the replacements.

Still think it’s silly to run CBS Mornings (east coast feed) on KCBS 4am-6am. Just simulcast the local newscast on both channels from 4am-7am and then exclusively on KCAL from 7am and on. That’s the best way to build ratings for it.

The argument that KCBS is in the basement ratings wise and that’s why we are moving the newscast to KCAL doesn’t quite hold. What’s switching channels going to magically do for ratings?

This is my confusion as well. Did KCAL have a morning product before this? If not, then it’s hardly a cost-cutting initiative either. The real struggle is how saturated that market is for the AM - KTLA, KABC, KNBC, KTTV all have established local morning institutions even if some are weaker than others. That doesn’t even include the national competition.

  4. This was one of the scariest things to witness. I love this game but it’s absolutely not worth it when witnessing scenes like this. Praying for Damar.

ESPN, ABC and SVP are doing an exceptional job. Incredible call by ABC to take the ESPN simulcast with no commercial ads. They get a lot of criticism for some situations, but tonight the entire Disney-ABC-ESPN operation is doing exceptional.

Despite the rhumors, I didnt think she'd literally pass just days later😢

I had seen rumors she was battling dementia some years ago. I’m guessing there were more serious reports on her health the last several days? Several people have referenced reports that this was coming.

  6. The Rob Marciano situation remains odd. He appears on GMA only to file weather-related stories, never to present or fill in for Ginger like before though he seems to be the primary weather anchor / correspondent for WNT.

Instead GMA brings in a range of weather anchors from NYC, Chicago, Philly and Nashville for weekends or filling in for Ginger.

  7. I don’t see a situation where ABC gets rid of both, if anyone is at risk it’s T.J. for his propensity for banging colleagues. Even then, that seems like an unlikelihood. Were the dynamics of this any other than two seemingly happily married colleagues slyly messing around (basically has Dailymail not blasted it as an affair) then I think GMA milks this romance for all it’s worth. GMA3 is likely but I don’t see the two of them back on main GMA together though it’s anyone’s guess.

  8. I was supportive of them remaining on air once the additional details came out that this wasn’t nearly as salacious as the tabloids made it. But this is becoming a huge distraction and depending on how it shakes out could do damage to GMA’s brand strength. Based on my entirely unscientific estimates, TJ has fallen way out of people’s good graces. My girlfriend, my mom and social media all informing my hypothesis lol.

  9. Maybe it’s fair to say tabloids and social media made a much bigger deal of this than needed be. The two have been separated from their marriages for a while now and are two consenting adults which the DailyMail piece buried in their story.

Still a surprising story and I think it’ll be sometime before ABC has the two of them on air together though I think the best way to defend them from a rag piece and invasion of their privacy is to have them operate BAU. The duo are a strong part of the show’s sustained success.

Why is this even a thing? And why is anyone even questioning their “future” on GMA or how ABC will handle it?

Two married adults fell for each other, separated from their respective spouses and have begun a new relationship together. It is sad that two marriages are ending but that is a normal part of life.

Maybe they’ll address it on air or issue a statement when they’re ready… but who cares?

I mostly agree but there are optics around the “family” and “wholesomeness” of morning TV that an apparent marital affair would likely not play well in.

For me, I like TJ and Amy as a duo but not sure the dating dynamics would go well on a national network morning program. How do the dynamics shift while they’re a couple, how do they shift in the event that they’re no longer a couple?

Always thought Holmes and Robach were the future for main GMA, but this event makes things very interesting indeed. They always had good chemistry on-air, but it seems like things sparked off-air.  I wonder how ABC will position this? Will viewers care? I think if they come out in the open and be truthful about what happened, I think most viewers who are already invested in GMA3 will be okay with it, I think some morning viewers will actually welcome it (might even help with ratings). They weren't in an affair like the tabloids are saying, it's 2022 and they've been separated from their partners since August.

They would have had to be separated considering how public they’re being in a number of those photos right? They’re literally smiling at cameras in one of the photos as they left TJ’s apartment apparently.

Not sure how GMA will handle this but hard to see them being the future of the show in the way I also thought they’d be.

  12. I strongly disagree. WABC’s on-air look is awful - very disjointed and clunky although the color scheme isn’t terrible. I remember being shocked when I learned here that the package wasn’t built in-house.

Their graphics package and set are arguably the worst in the market to me.

I'm fine with it. The pandemic accelerated a lot of changes. Ties feel excessively formal and stuffy.

The no-tie look is awkward because the female news anchor still dresses rather formal.

KHOU-TV in Criticized for Interrupting End of Bills-Lions Game - Sports Illustrated

I'm honestly not sure where this conversation should be talked about in, so, mods, feel free to move this post if necessary.

KHOU Channel 11 Houston cut off the last 25 seconds of today's Bills-Lions game in order to cover a tornado warning in the Houston area.

Our house was frustrated to the say the least, especially once it was evident that the storm was losing steam for a tornado to materialize. I don’t think KHOU, or any station when this happens, should get flack for doing their job of keeping people safe. Josh Allem has had a number of clutch plays in his career, fans missing the latest one won’t hurt.
