That's NOT the real package.
It's 11p.m. Why does their open have daytime shots from the middle of the day?

Cassie Wilson has been promoted to chief meteorologist at KRNV from mornings.

I personally thought WNEM would use KOAA-TV’s Scripps knockoff since the former knocked off Scripps itself.
those lower thirds are WAY too high. what were they thinking?

List add to the list of retirements why don't we? KWCH's Roger Cornish is going to call it quits. http://www.kansas.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/carrie-rengers/article209483434.html 41 years, six months, and 13 days he said. His dad, wife, and son all worked there at some point. Wow.

KMBC changed its logo to red, and tweaked a few other things.

On NO. That logo has been blue since the dawn of time. WHY would they mess with it now? Not only that, but put it in a box? Seriously?

KLKN is losing its entire sports department. All three of them will be gone by the end of the summer. Their contracts all came up within a couple month span of each other. To be clear, they're not shutting down the sports dept, just completely rehiring it.
-
A month late, but who else pays attention to the El Paso market other than I? Anywho, KTSM broke ground on a new facility. No word on when the building will be finished, but it's safe to say that we'll be stuck with Look A and Extreme for another few years.

Are they still using some now bastardized version of Look A?

I don't mean to sound stupid but I didn't know that people could fill in at other stations while working at one.Last year when WCAU was down to three meteorologists and of the three one was on vacation and a second was sick, they pulled in WRC’s Doug Kammerer and WNBC’s Dave Price to fill in.WJLA meteorologist Josh Knight helped out WBFF about a year or so ago in their time of need. Not to mention, the occasional fill-in WX gigs during network morning shows, they usually poach from the O&O's. Similar thing happened when Paul Magers did an impromptu SR when Muhammad Ali passed.
Unrelated but while I'm thinking of it, are network O&O's basically considered de-facto bureaus for their parent network? Not talking about NYC, DC, Chicago, or LA, but say Raleigh for WTVD/ABC, Austin for KTBC/FOX, etc?
An important thing to note here is that all of these stations are owned by the same company. They're not pulling a meteorologist from a Scripps station to fill in from a Hearst station, they're pulling people from within the company but who are at different stations.

KLKN got temporarily knocked off the air after a semi turned into a power pole. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1832423270123445

They'll probably all get it now that they're cutting back on the local angle, which is the only thing the local stations could have fought corporate about. Can't really argue "we don't have the resources to produce this" when all you're doing is inserting cut-ins.
I get the hunch this is a response to "Daily Blast Live".
What would have stopped Scripps from giving stations the resources necessary to produce it though? I know for KSHB at least they've hired reporters to specifically report for the Now.
-
Not really. The Now killed off whatever ratings momentum KSHB had, and WXYZ did all that they could to make it as close to a straight newscast as possible.
WKBW has done decently with the Now at 7pm, where no other local newscast runs in that timeslot in the market (considering that KB lost Wheel and J! under the tail end of Granite mismanagement to WIVB, that isn’t saying much of anything).
WEWS recently swapped PnB with Steve Harvey - moving Steve back to 3pm - in a move reminiscent of their bailing on Dr. Oz a few years ago.
I still don't understand how some Scripps stations managed to avoid the Now plague.
That’s the format we were promised originally when The NOW launched...It sort of started like that, then ratings tanked and they tried to make it more localized. Clearly, that also didn't work, so they're gonna go back to the original premise and hope things are differen't the third time around.

World News Tonight anchored live from the red carpet. I have no words. Far cry from the days of What would Peter say?
How's that any different than Nightly News or Today being hosted from the Olympics host city?

It's B.S. to think that everyone's required to have 2 days off each week. Heck, even at the local level, I've seen sports and weather anchors work 10+ days straight.
I know a sports guy who didn't have two consecutive days off for a month. He also worked almost every single day for an entire month. But, management was nice and gave him comp days for all that extra time worked, so he enjoyed a nice 2 week vacation later.
-
When I saw Lester do the newscast out in that cold weather in Minnesota, I said how stupid it was for them to put him out there in the cold.He went to South Korea which was bitterly cold, then up have high elevation of being in the mountain and when you add, travel and jet lag it is now a mess. You don't put your top anchor out in no cold air to air a newscast.
This is one of the reasons why I don't like NBC and how they handle their talent. They overwork them, when you work and travel it brings down your immune system and a reason where there needs to be more bureaus to accomodate NBC News reporters. If they can't do that then use O&O affiliates as a source of reporting from fields or breaking news.
They're also veteran network talent. That job isn't for the feint of heart or the weak. They know they're going to be worked hard and they know they'll be traveling internationally, sometimes with last-minute notice. Could they maybe utilize resources better? Sure, everyone could.

it gets worse. He was told to stay off of school property. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2018/2/21/weatherman-was-told-to-stay-off-school-property

Has no one mentioned KCCI meteorologist Frank Scaglione apparently soliciting minors? He's no longer employees, and it sounds like management isn't telling their employees much either. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/crime-and-courts/2018/02/19/kcci-tv-des-moines-meteorologist-accused-inappropriate-behavior-snapchat-twitter-frank-scaglione/350171002/

KFSM has signed a lease for a new building in Johnson, Ark., between Fayetteville and Springdale. The operations are currently split between sites in Fort Smith and a shopping mall in Fayetteville, 60 miles apart.

Wait, so they're moving their studios 60 miles away? Ok.

WXYZ is still far and away the largest station in their portfolio. I would be astounded to see them unload it.
If anything, WXYZ will be like WEWS, WMAR and WKBW... underperformers but still with value regardless. (Although WKBW's issues still mostly predate Scripps management.)
It's also silly because WXYZ is one of their original stations. Scripps would be insane to sell off one of the originals. Not to mention they love ABC. They'd more likely sell of some NBC and CBS stations.

KCTV is adding a 7:00 p.m. newscast on KSMO (My Network TV). They've waffled over the years on newscasts on KSMO, adding and subtracting them. I don't see why anyone would watch this one if they don't watch the others.
...why? Didn't their 6:30 show basically rate hashmarks?

Adweek, for whatever reason, has decided to restrict site access to TVNewser, TVSpy, and AdAgency unless you sign up. That means unless you decide to make an account, all you can do is read the headlines and comments. It's easily one of the most bizarre and pompous decisions I've seen of a website.
