  1. KSHB's Justin Wilfon is moving to Atlanta, to be weekend anchor at WSB-TV.
  2. I remember when we hired Shelly Slater at FOX 4. She did her first live shot on my show, and I thought "Wow, this woman will be a major-market anchor someday, maybe even CNN." Now she's stepping away from full-time work at WFAA. http://unclebarky.com/dfw_files/f1cacb539d3a4a94bff6beaf4ca7a0f2-3737.html

  4. I had heard the KCTV news director would be leaving a month ago, around the time he fired a few people. Today he submitted his resignation. His replacement will be the third ND since late 2013. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/7/28/kc-news-director-out
  5. Someone climbed about 150-feet up our tower Sunday night and knocked back a few cold ones. I was working at the time. This guy was awfully drunk. http://fox4kc.com/2016/07/24/man-chugs-beer-after-climbing-the-fox-4-broadcast-tower/

    In Memoriam

It was not a car crash, by the way. She fell off a waterfall ledge-- one that I've visited before. http://wlos.com/news/local/authorities-confirm-georgia-news-anchor-died-in-rainbow-falls-incident
  7. WMGT reports on the death of their morning co-anchor. http://www.41nbc.com/2016/07/22/41nbc-news-anchor-taylor-terrell-dies/

  9. It has made a dent, undeniably.
  10. While we've been off DISH for a month or so, KCTV is now warning its viewers of an impending DISH outage. http://www.kctv5.com/story/32428905/will-dish-drop-kctv5-from-its-lineup
  11. Uh oh. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/7/13/newhaven-weatherman-busted-on-child-porn-charges
  12. The Star-Telegram writes on the retirement of WFAA reporter Jim Douglas. http://www.star-telegram.com/living/article88088947.html
  13. Tyree lost his son recently (his son played football at my alma mater). I wonder if that had anything to do with his departure.
  14. How ironic, a reporter who faked her way into a sports gig, is now covering a fake sport.
  15. Mike Landess returns to Denver to anchor at KWGN. http://kwgn.com/2016/06/29/news-anchor-mike-landess-returning-to-denver-joining-colorados-own-channel-2/
  16. Robert Feder writes about WFLD launching a 5:00 p.m. news. http://www.robertfeder.com/2016/06/26/fox-32-to-launch-5-p-m-newscast-july-5/
  17. In Oklahoma City, KFOR says Joleen Chaney is returning to the station, apparently to co-anchor the 4:00 p.m. news. She left KFOR a couple of years ago for KWTV.
  18. I've worked with him. I like him, and I think he's easy to work for. He's a total job-hopper, though. Like Johnny Cash, it seems he's been everywhere.
  19. DISH sues Tribune over the spots Tribune stations have been running during the re-trans fight. http://deadline.com/2016/06/dish-network-court-suit-tribune-media-interfere-customer-contracts-false-advertising-1201776755/
  20. KWCH sports anchor Dani Welniak is moving up to KCTV in Kansas City. This weekend was her last weekend in Wichita.
  21. This has been a rumor for months, but KSHB meteorologist Kalee Dionne will be joining WMAQ-TV in Chicago this fall (capacity unknown). KSHB hired a meteorologist from WDBJ in Roanoke to replace her.
  22. I found this article about him, published a couple of months ago. http://mysoutex.com/bookmark/27147095/article-Weathering%20cancer-s%20storm-%20Faith%20helps%20beloved%20TV%20meteorologist%20to%20keep%20fighting#.VwR1m9bXCPc.facebook
  23. That might be for the Confederations Cup (soccer).
  24. If I had to guess, off-hand, I would say Hartford.
  25. This is amusing: two longtime Wichita anchors both announced their departures at the same time. Both will leave on the same day. Cindy Klose of KWCH and Susan Peters of KAKE are both leaving their stations on May 25 (last day of the May book).
