Former ABC News correspondent Kenneth Moton, becomes the new 6 & 11pm anchor on WTTG next Monday.

And this was announced back on Friday. But WWL has added two former Houston anchors to join their Morning show.

Former KPRC anchor Brandon Walker and former KTRK reporter/anchor Brheanna Boudreaux (fka Brhe Berry) will join Leslie Spoon & Eric Paulsen as anchors of the morning show, beginning on October 16.

The station hasn't specified the anchor assignments (which one will anchor which part of the AM broadcast, etc.). But they did add that Leslie Spoon will be the "full-time" anchor of the noon show (while still doing part of the AM show) beginning November 27.

What happened to Rob Desir at WTTG?

Former KSTP reporter Crystal Bui released a tell-all book that doesn't put the station in a flattering light:

Kind of been that way for many decades nothing new here at 3415 University Ave. A revolving door no doubt at the legacy station.

I know that Wood TV is number 1 by a mile it isn't close I thought that WWMT was number 2 as there promos say there the number 1 station from sign on to sign off largely because of syndication, & WZZM number 3 just because of it being a legacy station only. I was surprised that Hearst sold WZZM in the 90s to what is now TEGNA yeah, would like to Hearst to buy WZZM again.

I knew WOOD was always running away with #1 and thought ZZM was #2 and WWMT was in third. Somewhere I read that, but then found out WWMT does well in Battle Creek side while ZZM does well in Grand Rapids.  It seems when it was last few years under Gannett the money stop flowing.  If you weren't KSDK, KARE, KUSA, WUSA those were the money maker stations. Then when it became TEGNA- well it became another mediocre media company.

IF they were, they won't be for much longer... WWMT is now down to 8 people I think? Christina Anthony left in November and they most likely won't replace her... Chief Keith Thompson is all over the place filling in... They have 2-3 reporters and focus way too much on Kalamazoo/Battle Creek for any GR viewers to care...

My dream wish would be for Hearst to pick up WZZM somehow...

I would love for Hearst to pick several stations as well...

Yes, Susie Gilbert, which I believe is her real name, and Shawn Ireland, which is not her real name (I believe it's Pam Gilbert), are sisters.

Which begs the question, what did they call Shawn Ireland at work? Did they call her Shawn or did they call her Pam? Calling her by her stage name in real life is kind of weird, but if they call her by her real name, they might screw up on the air.

Incidentally, I've seen signed checks from the actor Eddie Albert signed Eddie Albert, even though his real name was Edward Albert Heimberger. There's a Heimberger Road in Fairfield County and it's named after his dad's side of the family. Even though Eddie Albert wasn't from here, his dad was.

She was always known as Shawn Ireland from her radio days and when she was on FOX28's Good Day.

I remember that and the "Fox 28 Kids Club" well during my summers in Columbus. (At least Yolanda Harris made out well for herself. But what happened to Suzy? 😆)

Back to topic: yes, Stadium is like the Wish version of ESPN 8: THE OCHO if that were a real thing. But it's obvious what Reinsdorf is going to do. The White Sox/Bulls (and maybe the Blackhawks) will be on their own network in '25 and Comcast can wind down NBC Sports Chicago (though I'm sure some would prefer the return of those teams to WGN-TV).

During the Yolanda /Gabe era on NewsCenter on ABC6. Suzi came on and did some health reports for a couple of years. It was 2002-04/05 and left. Some on said she was sister or sister in law to Shawn Ireland. I remember Suzi on FOX 28 Kids' Club.

I thought that Sunbeam would've been sold when Ed passed away a couple of years ago the family must like being in the media business. Sunbeam was all news before the other major broadcast groups followed suit 10 to 15 years ago when Sunbeam was all news in the 90s.

Why would you assume that once Ed passed they would sell? Ed never had no reason to sell, and he said it himself. i'm sure he told his kids not to give in to corporate pressure. Yes, the family has other

business properties. The small family own stations are trying to hold on to their business holdings, and they come from an old school generation.

I think this is about right. Much like Denver and St. Louis, I could see where they might shift around some of the evening newscasts on KUSI to not compete with KSWB. A primetime block on KUSI might make sense. They then can keep the morning blocks the same and compete with one another and differentiate them with "unique talent" even if much of the content is the same, and cheap. The whole point in all of these duopoly markets is to simply maximize ad inventory, not about maximizing the potential for new content.

You bring up some good points and when Nexstar owned CW outlet in Phoenix. Come to think of it and I don't know why they didn't. Nexstar should of gotten a hold of KTVK/3TV and CW61. That would of made

    better sense than 3TV/CBS5.

  9. 22 hours ago, A3N said:

I just can't picture Nexstar being able to fit both operations at either location unless they were to expand the building. If they're going to keep both entities as a semi-separate operation, then they would be wise to start looking at other places they could purchase/remodel.

Either way you slice it, any move(s) Nexstar makes will come with backlash from KUSI's audience. The channel has a niche audience that is not sustainable on it's own. They do run a pretty lean operation there, so any efficiencies will probably be minimal.

The biggest question will be: will they completely dismantle the anchor teams or shift them to different hours as to not compete with FOX 5?

FOX5/KUSI soon-to-be combo will be like Denver & St.Louis' Nexstar operation. Your right because both stations air newscast at the same time. Both airing morning news, 4,5,6 & 10/11pm news. FOX5 does 1pm and 7pm. Some of those newscast are going to have to change. It's very interesting on how this will play out.

I have to assume part of the reason for McKinnon getting out is because of KUSI's physical studio deterioration; with Nexstar in control they can vacate them and have a much more state-of-the-art building with KSWB. I also have to think these talks were happening even before LIV was a factor and Tegna is having second thoughts about the renewal with the decline of syndication being more of a yoke than a complement to 8.1.

I was going to ask, whose building was going to be kept and whose building was going to get left behind. I assume FOX5 would move into KUSI's studios.  KUSI also have a talent pool as well too.

I wonder what talent would be apart of the transition and what talent would leave.

KRON has a 3 hour prime time News block from 8 to 11.

KONG has a 2 hour news block at 9pm

WPCH has a 2 hour news block at 9pm

WATL has a 3 hour News block at 8pm

WTTA has a 2 hour block of news at 8pm

The question these stations need to ask is if low rated CW programming is more profitable that what they are already doing. With the election next year and the political spending going to be really high having complete ownership of your advertising is very significant (especially for the Atlanta stations considering Georgias swing state status).

Personally I could only see KRON and WTTA adding CW, and that’s simply because nexstar will make them

I see CW going to WATL because when WATL was WB they were one of WB's top rated affiliates. Granted WB had better programming than CW. CW has that niche young audience. WXIA produced news for WATL so they will do an hour at 7pm and come back at 10pm. Between 8-10pm those CW shows might be get better ratings.

However WANF/WPCH might do what XIA/ATL did with the news.

In Detroit-Channel 20[formerly WXON I know the calls have changed WMYD] will be CW.  If WADL had waited they probably would be CW.

WTVN-TV was a huge money-maker even back in the days when it was owned by Taft.

It definitely was no doubt about that. Always wish Taft would of kept the station. I've always felt WSYX needed someone better than Sinclair running the ship.

Well, they're gonna have to sell at least 15 markets. If they still wanna be a company at all.

    WNWO would be great under{ Nexstar} and even those big market stations like KOMO & KATU {Those stations would do even better under Gray}

It would be even better if KPLR was the ABC affiliate in St.Louis.

I agree they need to sell and WPMI deserve a much better owner.

Columbus may as well be their crown jewel, it's probably their most profitable market, and now with WSYX posting sizable ratings gains against WCMH and WBNS, a place where they are actually winning the ratings. Of course, much of this has to do with the free fall of both WCMH and WBNS over the years.

WKRC seems to have taken a dive a few years ago, but they may have recovered...

WSYX has always been very profitable before Sinclair bought the station, and was one of few Sinclair profitable stations before Sinclair purchasing Freedom, Allbritton, Fisher and other stations from other groups.

WKRC is still tops in Cincinnati. WCPO should be worry about WLWT, because some newscast WLWT beats WCPO.

Channel references really don’t matter anymore in this digital age.  This why stations like KDKA, WBZ, WCCO, KCBS, KCNC, and WWJ are all doing away with them.  Don’t be shocked if WBBM soon follows suit.

People who are 40 and older will always know the station Channel number regardless if digital age, 3D or an AI technology. I get the younger audience have a different perception , because they grew up in a different era of television. Some didn't grow up in some would call "golden age of tv" where there was only {3} networks. However, especially older viewers who been around for a long time. The Boomers will always know that station as such...

  15. Once again WSB on top with over 50% of the audience share. In Feb 2023 WANF beat WXIA.

Meanwhile in 2022  WGCL  & WXIA were neck to neck or GCL was beating them. With WXIA ownership imperil it caused

    their stations to somewhat flat-line.
