  1. Will Leon Harris be doing what Jeff Barnd did? Becoming a national reporter for the Sinclair chain? Let face it you can't get older at this company because for some reason they seem not to care for someone who gets 50+ who on camera. I don't know why, because David Smith like 60, and he no spring chicken.

    Another theory:

Will Jonathan Elias anchor 4,6pm and Leon handle the 5 & 11pm shows?

  2. WOW~ They were in fist a cuffs at Eyewitness News 4? The article goes on to say that the news director said Joles is having a hard time fitting into the this modern day broadcasting era. Does that means you think he'll be replace soon, or when his next contract cycle comes up?

  3. News Directors corner;

Julie Eisenmann leaves WJCL22/WTGS28 in Savannah for Assistant News Director at WXIA in Atlanta.

Dave Ciliberti leaves WTEN in Albany, NY for WCMH in Columbus, OH both are Media General stations.

Keith Conners has landed at WTNH in New Haven, CT having last worked at WTHR in Indy.

  4.

WDSU has hired Adrianna Hopkins to co-anchor the 5 pm and 10 pm newscasts starting later this month with Camille Whitworth and Scott Walker, respectively.

Her most recent stint was at WSVN Miami.

Also in the Big Easy; Juan Kincaid jumps from WWL to WVUE to replace former sports director Fred Hickman who left FOX 8 last week.
  5. Yeah everything your saying is true. McCarthy was never a catch for the audience, and I heard she tested low when she went in on the screen test. It been reported that O' Donnell thing was if she comes back Geddie had to go, and he did. The article said that ABC will lose that real estate to the local affiliates. In the game scheme of things ABC will continue The View for another year IMO. They will find a niche that will work, and I wouldn't be surprise if some for faces will re-appear. ABC is not going to concede to CBS just yet.

  6.

ABC is the majority owner of The View. Bill Geddie sold all of his stake to ABC while Barbara sold all but 17% of her stake in the show. There was an article on it last summer while rumors were swirling of cast changes. So the chances that The View moves to another network are none.

ABC does not own/produce The Rachael Ray show, so they wouldn't have the ability to cancel the show.

Barbara sold her 50% last summer to ABC, and she thought ABC was going to keep Geddie, but once ABC got a hold of the show "major changes" happened behind the scenes. Now The View is apart of ABC News. I don't think they will canceled it just yet, because over at CBS The Talk is doing really good. I think ABC will refresh the show again, and probably bring on some old faces even Babs.

It also a vehicle to promote ABC's shows, and CBS does the samething on The Talk, but The View not going down without a fight. OMG! Do we need to see Lara Spencer on any Good Morning Whatever? I don't know how she lost out on Mary Hart's job at E.T...

  7.

I don't see this happening at all. Soaps are way to expensive to operate and I think GMA/GAA has a better chance than a game show. I don't think its much of a question what would replace The View, I think its just whether The View will be canceled.

Yeah the soaps have been expensive for years, and the networks have cut the licenese fees, and it cost 50 million dollars to produce the soaps each year. ABC has owned all their soaps, and General Hospital got a surge in the ratings the last 2years cycle. I think all three networks are waiting for the dust to die down. CBS has a contract for their soaps until 2017 and NBC contract run through 2016. ABC never really has a contract, because they have always owned their.

However Good Afternoon America or a 9am Edition of GMA the question is do we really need another morning news/ fluff program? I think ABC going to change The View host again, because their not going to concede to CBS. CBS' The Talk is NOW besting The View. The View, The Chew and General Hospital will remain the same probably for the next year or two. They don't want to upset the apple cart on the soap opera front just yet.

  8.

Nice things were not said about McGettigan at WISH. Best of luck to WHBQ.

Was she as bad as some of the postings said about her? There are times where Cox bring in some shrew executives, and a few moments down the road they get tossed out on their backside. Let see how this one will play out.
  9. Terrell Brown moves to morning anchor on WLS/ABC 7 in Chicago while Hosea Sanders moves to the 7pm news on ABC 7 for WCIU-26.

Sinclair's KUTV news director Jennifer Dahl named West Coast Group ND for the company. She'll be working with stations News Directors at: KOMO, KATU, KNSV and KUTV.

  10.

Meredith McDonough of WESH has been promoted to early evening & late night co-anchor:

She replaces Martha Sugalaski who left in July.

So it been stated that Martha going over to rival WFTV/Channel 9. So what would her job be at WFTV? Martie and Vanessa do the evening shows, so where would they place her at? Does anybody think Vanessa or Martie's days number at WFTV? Remember when they push Marla Weech off for Martie Salt? Could this be the same storyline for Channel 9???

For those of us who were not familiar with Bill Bonds, his career, or his contributions, IMO it is somewhat fitting to know who would be considered true peers to him--almost like a tribute. Seeing other names in the local news business that have made their own impacts similar to or equal to Bill Bonds truly illustrates to the rest of us how much he was surely admired and respected in the Detroit market.

Including Tracy Rowlett as an example showed me what I must have missed during the tenure of Bill Bonds. Thank you bammy9 for posting the news of his passing.

To me Bill Bonds/Diana Lewis were the John Pruitt/ Monica Pearson(Kaufman) in Atlanta the equivalent. Others would be Ron Magers as well too. Tracey Rowlett, Chip Moody would be on the same lines.
  12. Growing up my grandparents would watch Bill (Billy) Bonds at 5PM with Robbie Timmons and come back at 11pm for the Update then with Dayna Eubanks. In 1988, Diana Lewis would return from KABC to come back to WXYZ. Dayna would go down the street to WJBK-TV2. The Update at 11 with Bill Bonds and Diana Lewis and Detroit's first news team.

That man was one of the greats in television local news and he just did it right. It so sad to hear this news, but he read 8 Newspapers from the former GM, and somebody else said they saw him read 5 Newspapers. It really a end of an era, and everyone who wanted to be in news wanted to be like Bill Bonds and work at Channel 7.

    So many people at Broadcast House walked and worked in his shadow;

    Rich Fisher

    Guy Gordon

    Doris Biscoe

    Dayna Eubanks

    Diana Lewis

    Robbie Timmons

    Jerry Hodak

    Erik Smith

    Mike Holfield

    Frank Turner

    Don Lark

  13. Sinclair's /KNSV- Cuts Nightly Political Show:

The station was news heavy, but seems like Sinclair gutting alot of shows, and do wonder if Sinclair plan to buy any syndication shows? Days of Our Lives will probably go back at 1pm on 3.

The departures keeps coming at WGCL CBS46, this time their chief meteorologist Markina Brown is leaving this week. Her last day is Friday.

    http://t.co/XUR1oUepi3

It be nice if Paul Ossmann would get the top job to be weather anchor for CBS 46 he would add a face that familiar in the market. After working at WAGA & WXIA.
