Why hasn't it been changed in a long time? And as much as I doubt this, has it even been upgraded to HD?
Because Nexstar. That's why. But FINALLY this is happening. I knew it was only going to be a matter of time after they changed their website to YourBasin.com from PermianBasin360.com, but still, too long. It sounds like they will be changing to "Local Big 2 News" (the articles on the website had been addressed this way for quite some time now, but never on-air). I hope they ditch Indie-Band News and replace it with something else, maybe Evolution? Surprisingly, according to the NMSA, no station in that market has ever used a package with the Spirit signature (although since it is a very small market one of the three stations could have at some point and we wouldn't know)

That would be Steve Vesey.
Oops. Not sure where Chris came from. I fixed it. LOL.

WTIC has gone back to the Fox 61 branding
As a former Connecticut resident, I am really happy about this. Hopefully this will push WVIT to go back to NBC 30.
Former WIVB sports director Steve Vesey is the new morning anchor at WFMJ. Vesey is a Y-town native.

ASN has picked up another rights package, and it's a big one IMO. They've acquired the rights to televise the American Athletic Conference's men's basketball games starting this upcoming season.
To me this fuels speculation that Sinclair will pick up whichever station M-MG divests in Connecticut since UConn is in that conference and is one of, if not the strongest school in the conference in that sport.

WVLA is now Local 33. It was mentioned on the Out and About thread but I figured I'd post it here too.

NBC 33 in Baton Rouge is now Local 33. {Local Branding seems to be the flavor of moment for Nexstar }
That's the best set I've seen for a Nexstar station. Hopefully KTSM will get something similar (but I hope they keep the NC9 branding).

It does look so much better than the Sincrap package. Well done WKTV.

I was thinking Raycom when I first saw it. Their weather graphics are a mashup of the two IMO.

Earlier, my thoughts about WOIO's new color scheme were that the colors were similar to Kent State.
But WOIO may have made an even bigger fail with their color scheme...
ESPECIALLY since the old colors (red and white) were similar to the Scarlet and Grey of Ohio State....
Yeah, those colors might be an issue. Everyone in NEO is probably irate about it. Lol.
Interesting change of music to TITP. I still don't know who the VO guy is (I think I said earlier that it was John Beach, but after listening to more clips it doesn't sound like him). Sounds like the guy that does promos and teases on TNT for shows such as Rizzoli and Isles, and Major Crimes.

That's what I was thinking. KYW/KTVA instantly came to mind.Do I detect a Hothaus package?
-
Well these deals are interesting. I guess that puts a kibosh on Gray buying Bonten's NBC Montana cluster.
Expect the white '12' on a red square to come to KTVH.

Watching their newscasts is dreadful.
For those who need proof,

Your move, KMID.

Fields Moseley is leaving KTVK after this Wednesday to become Maricopa County's communications director. He cites the changes in his job responsibilities spurred by KTVK's consolidation with KPHO.
Can't say I'm surprised. Fields has been seen less and less at KTVK since the duop with KPHO was formed.

KMID and KPEJ rebranded and relaunched their website to YourBasin.com, which is way better than their former 'PermianBasin360.com'
And does this mean that there will FINALLY be both new graphics and a 9pm newscast on KPEJ??? I've noticed that KMID has been referring itself in articles as "Local Big 2" as of late.
-
Former WKYC anchor Kris Pickel is headed to KPHO. As a WKYC viewer when I lived in Cleveland, it'll be nice to see a familiar face at a Phoenix station.

KASW has gone to Nexstar domain branding confusion too (even though the site is still under construction).
KASW took an almost identical path of another Nexstar CW standalone, WCWJ in Jacksonville, which is YourJax.com. Can't wait to see what kind of stuff that YourPHX.com will have.

A fairly large station sale for a Salt Lake City religious TV station.
KTMW has been sold for $3,000,000 from Alpha Omega Communications to Serestar Communications Corp. Serestar's only television holdings seem to be KCSO, the Telemundo outfit for Sacramento, and KNSO in Fresno (operations only). Apparently NBCU didn't take back operation of that station after ZGS and gave it to this guy.
The head of Serestar, Philip Wilkinson, apparently came from Entravision.
Telemundo is in Utah on a network of LPTVs branded as Telemundo 10 (KULX), operated by Airwaves but with one of the translators owned by NBCU. There are no full-power stations in the system. Perhaps this is how they're getting one?
I would think so. KULX's signal only covers the greater Salt Lake area, while KTMW covers almost all of northern Utah, including Logan and Spanish Fork. I think the motive to the deal is to eventually get rid of the LP stations.

WFRV is in the middle of getting a new set [finally]. The set change also happens to coincide with the station's 60th anniversary.
The old set has been donated to UW-Oshkosh [disclosure: I live not too far from the campus and studios].
This is about all the spoilage I can find at this point....
Probably something similar (if not identical) to WJMN's set.

So it looks like to me that this group is another one of those 'speculators', who are only in to buy so they can cash-in after auction time. Remember this is the same Marquee Broadcasting that bought Salisbury's ABC affiliate WMDT in 2013.
This one is definitely a head-scratcher. Marquee seems to be investing in WMDT, with new graphics, music and logo since taking over. Yet they're buying stations close to large markets. I'll have to wait and see...
I really want to see the WNEG calls return, but it's a long shot...

Apparently Nexstar is feeling proud. I give you the new sites for WVLA, KVEO and KWKT.
I also mentioned in the No Emotion Box that KMSS's newscasts have been taken over by KTAL.
-
Just because it has news on those sites, doesn't mean news operations will be coming for them.
This is true. Then again it also doesn't mean that they won't. Just take WFXR.

Looks like the Nexstar sites for the ComCorp stations are beginning to take shape.
KADN: cajunfirst.com
WNTZ: cenlanow.com
I will update this post as I see more sites up and running.

Larry McCarren, WGBA sports anchor and Packers Hall of Famer, has announced that he is leaving broadcast television. He will still announce Packer games on radio alongside Wayne Larrivee. http://www.jrn.com/nbc26/news/Larry-McCarren-Its-Time-297795411.html
Nexstar...again

That logo is hideous. Other than that, KMID just went from being the station with the worst look in the market to the station with the best look in the market.
The next station that needs to get a refresh soon is KCAU. That station is way behind its Citadel sisters (WOI and WHBF) in getting a new look.
