I find this thread to be so interesting, because I enjoy reading the conversation about GrayONE.

When WVLT unveiled the new GrayONE graphics about a month ago on April 1st, April Fools Day of all days, it became a wonderful improvement from the previous Gray graphics from over the years. And when I saw the opening of the noon news on that day, it made me so happy.

I feel that WVLT and KWQC are two stations that are my favorite uses of GrayONE. And, it will be interesting to see how WYMT, WKYT, WSMV and other Gray-owned stations will do with GrayONE.

Agree, both WVLT and KWQC look fantastic.  Little disappointed at how WAVE turned out.

I think WKYT/WYMT will end up looking good. I could see WYMT having some green-ish/teal colors would work with that color scheme to be slightly different from WKYT.

If Scripps does decide to sell, who in their right mind would buy them with what they've done to their stations?

It would have to be some kind of private equity deal to keep things running, but if that ever happens, what's left to cut to make a profit on their investment?

For me.... I always wanted WTVQ/Morris to be bought up by Hearst, but now it's WLEX/Scripps for Hearst. It wouldn't work for WCPO and others. I really thought Scripps would make WLEX even better.

This is happening in pretty much every small market station that Scripps owns. I know KERO and KSBY are pre-taping their late news as well. KSBY is getting some more latitude than KERO because they're #1 in the market, but it's still pretty bad.

The whole thing doesn't make much sense. Staff at these stations are pre-taping "modules" of stories after the early evening news to run at 10 and 11pm. They don't really get done with everything until about 8:30 or 9pm anyway. And then an anchor and director still sit around after in case they need to update anything or insert it into the rundown.

I've noticed WLEX looks to be pre-taping its 12:30 and 4 p.m. newscasts.

From what I gather, they would essentially cut out the middleman of a traditional local anchor at these smaller stations, and the newsroom would be centered around reporters and MMJs. Any gaps in content could be filled by Scripps News.

Wonder if WLEX would be a part of the "smaller" market.

I have a question that's been bugging me lately. Can a tv station use their physical digital channel number in their branding rather than their virtual channel?

Didn't WOAY re-brand as TV50 for many years going with their digital channel, then the station went back to channel 4 even though they are on digital channel 30.

    I mean, 36 is a fairly unwieldy number…

Lexington was blessed with UHF only channels in the old analog days, so big channel numbers is what we got.

Where did you find this? Is this real?

I'm asking because can't find this supposed "new" logo ANYWHERE. It's not on WTVQ's website, any of their social media pages, nor their FCC public file. Not only that, but a reverse image search turns up nothing.

    It's real.

They are running a Valentines Day promo on air on the their website and they are using the new logo there.

You can see it here: https://www.wtvq.com/valentines-day-giveaway/#//

Also some coming up on ET shows.

Who knows will it actually launch though.
