  1. No it's not. Having said that, it definitely sounds like Arnold did something custom for them. I love it, beats Enforcer any day.
  2. Yeah, but with the government shutdown, nothing's going to get approved now (depending on how long that lasts)...
  3. I know, but just the way you said it, with the capitalization and profanities and everything, definitely made my day.
  4. It's not that bad. The old logo was good, but it was getting dated (although it held up well for all these years). The 22 does look a little "old" but I don't mind it. You crack me up CircleSeven.
  5. Really? "We can't wait to get this party started!" Who's running their Twitter feed? A teenager?
  6. If I'm not mistaken, KCOY produces the morning newscasts for both KCOY and KION. Then KION produces the evening news for both stations.
  7. They still use that logo for the statewide Montana Television Network. I've seen it elsewhere on their sites in the recent past. It's very ugly and dated and I don't know why they've kept it.
  8. Maybe they'll stop favoring recent Emerson College grads at their stations once Nexstar takes over (but then they'll start favoring people from Texas...). I don't like when these come up. In a perfect world, yes Hearst would've owned it. But Hearst could've sold it to somebody else within that time frame. Sinclair may not have had triopolies, they could've sold to someone else. WLOS could've been sold to Gannett instead of Sinclair (for example). So none of that would have happened. Speculation at its finest...
  9. Nobody wants WLNE because it is a poor-performing station in that market. WJAR is the ten-ton gorilla in that market because they signed on first. Therefore most have never switched away. WPRI signed on second so they're second place. WLNE signed on last so they've always been last place. WLNE will probably go to Sinclair. They would be the best thing to happen to that market. I still think Nexstar will go after WBNG. Who cares if they have a monopoly on Binghamton? It's a very small market and I'm sure most of y'all haven't been there. I'm shocked they were able to sustain three news operations for so long (until Newport finally pulled the plug on WIVT's local news and now they have a half-assed attempt at local news that still uses graphics from 1995). They'll be fine with just one news station.
  10. Who says NBC is going to operate it? They may be purchasing it to ensure they have still have a Telemundo affiliate in such a pre-dominantly Hispanic market as the Valley. But my money is on them outsourcing operations to ZGS once they close in on the license.
  11. Yeah, so somebody's having a little too much fun. TVNT's favorite "social media reporter" comes up again as I was perusing her twitter feed. Let's just say tyrannical bastard is right, she should be pulled off immediately. Look what I found: She also complained that she didn't get ice in her drink at Taco Bell. This was on her station twitter. Honestly, who cares? Excuse me a sec...
  12. According to her WPMI bio (they didn't waste time posting it either), she was previously a producer in Orlando, West Palm Beach and New Orleans. Most producers, not all, are usually behind the scenes because either they don't want to be on TV but want to work in it, or suck really bad but still want to work in TV. But she's young and she's blonde so she's qualified... :bang: At least they made her clean up her twitter handle... And Taren Reed looks nothing like Jordan Early, she looks like a "behind-the-scenes" type person. They probably know she's a lot better than Jordan, but let's be frank. Mobile is not big enough (or doesn't have enough traffic) to justify a separate traffic reporter. otherwise that's probably where they would've put Jordan. But with no traffic reporter, their excuse to get eye candy on the morning newscast is the dreaded "social media reporter". They probably do consider her a 4th member of the morning team, and in due time I'm sure Creative Services will start including her in promos. You probably don't see her at noon probably for the same reason you don't see traffic reporters at noon. No reason to have 'em on. They want Jordan on there n the mornings, when certain people (you know who) are more likely to watch than at noon when everybody's at work and not really watching the noon news. I'm done with this rant.
  13. WETM's graphics (the 2005 KXAN graphics package from GO) aren't too bad. They've held up well. They use the 2005 NBC Artworks graphics for weather (they updated them a couple of days after Nexstar took control), which makes me think that they might start using that full time, but maybe not.
  14. OK, I'm going to vent here for a minute. Why do stations need "social media reporters"? It's a pointless position if you ask me. Anybody can do social media, you do not need somebody specific to just do social media. It's much like the traffic reporter position. It usually exists so NDs can put some inexperienced young female right out of school on the air because "she resonates with the audience" (BS an ND would tell you). Some stations (such as KSAT) actually take this position seriously and put experienced people (off-duty police officers) on the air. Most don't. Now ND's have found another position they can use to place an inexperienced young blonde on and that is the social media reporter position. It's a stereotype, that the average person who uses social media is young and female. While that may be true, you really don't see stations hiring an older male (or female) for this position (imagine Rob Jennings as the social media reporter, yeah that'll never happen...). Besides, Jordan Early is not a good fit for this position. I looked at her twitter feed (@JordanEmmaEarly) and she barely tweets, maybe once or twice every two or three weeks. If you're going to be a "social media reporter", then maybe you should tweet more often... Done ranting there... Yet we're still waiting for them to greenlight the Barrington deal and the Comcorp deal... With the exception of WMUR, none of these are owned by mega-chains. WVIR is owned by a Florida firm whose only three stations are WVIR, WBBH, and WZVN. The other three are locally-owned. Maybe this has to do with it? Also of note, WRAL and KSL are on in-house CMS's.
  15. Hell, that looks better than KABB's mugs. KABB literally printed their logo on cardstock and just taped it on the mug (with ordinary household tape). But hey, it's Sinclair, what can you do?
  16. Looks like KTBC has a new evening co-anchor and it's not Christine Haas:
  17. DAMN!?!? 232,741 likes on FB and 35,687 followers on Twitter (@NBCConnecticut)? Wow. I guess a lot of people like poor quality reporting and the worst weather people. The best news channel in CT, hands down, is WTNH News 8. WFSB is also pretty good. WVIT just became amateur hour with the hiring of this reporter. The other stations @WFSBnews-205,681 FB likes; 25,832 Twitter followers @WTNH-60,403 FB likes; 32,416 Twitter followers @foxct (WTIC)-22,505 FB likes; 13,753 Twitter followers I'm almost certain the WFSB and WVIT FB likes were bought. WTNH and WTIC have way more realistic numbers of likes. WVIT made a huge mistake, just when they were starting to gain traction in the market, the viewers will be disappointed to see an amateur doing their news reports so they will turn away in droves. Watch WVIT's ratings drop when Niezgoda debuts on the air. I will give you that. They did a good job. WTNH was my turn-to station though during the Newtown shooting. Still will be if I want to know what's going on there and WVIT has given me a reason not to watch by using poor judgment when hiring someone. Did they not see how poorly Abbey handled the dogs-getting-sicced-on-her thing. She was absolutely unprofessional (yes, it was wrong for that lady to do that, but Abbey and her photog provoked it) and she is suitable to work for lowbrow owners like Nexstar, Citadel, Sinclair, Pappas, Brian Brady, etc. But not for an NBC O&O. They're the big time. They need to review their hiring practices in the future and not hire people like her again. I will not watch them or consider them a legit news source until she leaves. My reasons sound absurd, I know. But I do not like Niezgoda (as a reporter, as a person she seems really nice), people should not have to be exposed to that amateur. I just hope what I said doesn't sound as bad as James "Jimmy" Cieloha... What? No more Tami Brehse? This is sad. They let go of a local gal and brought in a friend of the GM basically. She wasn't well liked at KCTV (according to other posts on here). If Totsch ever leaves as WPMI's GM, then Jones will follow too. I hope Tami lands on her feet elsewhere, maybe at WKRG 5?
  18. Interesting news day (Tues 20). First, Nexstar's Team 20 in Little Rock announces some new hires, coming a day after they lost Jessica Dean to KYW. Also, Has anyone noticed that all three of their news directors under Citadel have come from Tribune stations? (the previous two from WTIC) But what I'm even more excited about is that a certain rogue reporter is leaving WLNE. According to her twitter account, she'll Actually, crap. Why would WVIT hire her? She is not that great of a reporter. I have a gut feeling she'll do this two years and then mommy will get her a job at WFAA. I will cringe if that happens. I will stop watching WFAA if they hire Abbey... At least WVIT is the third place station in CT so not too many people will have to be exposed to her amateurish reporting... And finally, That's just sad and scary and prayers out to all those affected in Atlanta. Thankfully no injuries. And that's the way it was on Tuesday. All above courtesy TVSpy.
  19. What some of their Facebook friends are saying: I don't think they have a chance against WLOX. Man, looking at their Facebook makes me cringe. All of the grammatical mistakes and run-on sentences and childish jokes that their cameras look like R2D2. Yeah, I probably wouldn't watch if I was in Biloxi. I'm also perplexed as to why Ashley Feaster is their Chief Met. Russ Pappas looks more experienced. I probably would've swapped the two.
  20. Yellowstone is another name for Brian Brady, right? Or is this the shell name for Frontier Radio Management (owners of WGXA and soon to be acquiring KGNS 8)? Sorry, I should know this, but I've gotten the two mixed up lately.
  21. Yep, NMSA and tonight's Storm Team 9 forecast. (if the link is broken because they removed the vid, go to 9wsyr.com and on the weather page the latest video forecast is there. They usually include the open). They also live stream if you want to watch. I'm watching their morning stream right now. Aerial kinda works, there's better packages they could have gone with though.
  22. WSYR has officially switched their music to Aerial and retired News Station after 20 years. I'm guessing the contract to use News Station expired and so that's why they switched. Thankfully they still use their awesome Hothaus graphics. Max McGill (ew) is still the VO...
  23. Here some things happening lately in the wonderful world of local news (all courtesy TvSpy): WFOR's newly hired Rick Folbaum will be taking the 5pm and 11pm newscasts, while Eliott Rodriguez will be anchoring at noon and six. No word on who eithers co-anchors will be, if any. WISH gets a new assistant ND. And, the big story (surprised no one else has brought this one up, this one's from FTVLive): http://ftvlive.com/todays-news/2013/8/16/weatherman-sues-la-station-over-hiring-hotties
  24. Out of curiosity, I was wondering if they still use any of these slogans: Chicago's #1 News Chicago's News Leader People Make the Difference Your News Starts Here Your News, Your Way.
  25. By the looks of this, KXAN still hasn't ironed out their site yet:
