WTXF FOX 29 PHILADELPHIA, you wrote BOSTON so that's why Thought it was the other station.
-
We expect nothing but the best! Just kidding. In all seriousness I'm looking forward to see whatever you can get together

Apparently Graphics and some minor updates to an ancient set is as much as Disney wants to put into it, can you say "for sale"?
-
She looks better than the circle-7 logo next to her...
-
Maybe they'll try to loosen it up a bit, try to be more like WGN?
-
That's pretty different. Maybe they will be changing out the morning show soon? It's good they are getting air time but it also seems like they get lots of it.
-
I just looked at the forecast on their website, it's still fuzzy under his right arm. At first I couldn't see it against the county map but once he put his arm over the light green flood advisory icons it was glaringly obvious. Looks like it needs a few more tweaks. Edit: That was the 6pm version, they didn't upload the fun with clickers forecast.

Is that city scape a row of TV's in the wall or ? I assume it'll change as needed.

I figured I'd create a Scripps thread rather than keep sticking stuff in the old threads since it's got less and less to do with them as we move away from the Granite purchase etc. This thread is for rational general discussion about Scripps. Please try not to rant. Remember that you're encouraged to create a new thread for "big" events (i.e. Scripps purchasing another station group). I'm gonna start this out by saying that Today (8/4) WXYZ is going to begin airing it's 2 hour morning show, 7-9am on WMYD with "a side of Action News you haven't seen before". What that basically means is that the 8am hour is going to be lighter. They are also promoting how it'll be live and local. Same talent as the 430-7 block on WXYZ: Vic Faust, Alicia Smith, Keenan Smith and Rachel McCrary for 4 and a half hours straight now.

They would probably stand to have a desk and duratran put in, I suppose if it's that minor plus some wallpaper it would take a weekend. They'd put the shades or whatever they use down one would think. But since it's new lighting, maybe it'll be lit better?
-
Depends on the problem (if there's one). You think they could get a refresh together that fast?
-
Gotcha, I thought that looked awfully familiar. We had a lighting problem at WXYZ that caused the main desk to be out of service for 3 and a half days in April. It actually ended up looking better. Luckily that set has a secondary anchor area so nobody had to relocate in the building. The street side studio is so small I don't think there would be room for a setup like that though at WLS. Part of me is hoping for an modern Eyewitness News themed set and not a lighting problem. I am guessing it's the latter though.

I like the huge circle-7 behind Ron, it's a decent looking if dated set. How old is that backdrop and the space anyways?

The current Morning EP Doug Whitmire who has helmed the newscast since 2008 is being promoted to EP of the 10pm newscast. He will split time between the two until a new EP is hired for mornings. He's been with WLS since 2003. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/doug-whitmire-named-wls-1000-p-m-ep_b125827

The fact that they say the address is strange, even weirder that it's Corporate Place. Lousy writing and even more uninventive street name.
-
That was one of the most polite rude letters I've ever read, I would imagine there's been weirder and worse.
-
Those are some nice improvements, the radar looked decent as well, other than the clouds and 3-d skyline graphics it looked pretty subtle.
-
I could be wrong but the 7 day looks a little different to me. I like the 3D effects and the cloud cast.
-
There are ways to gain access and plenty of people to get you there, that's really not a huge problem these days.

#1 is to appease people who think opportunities were not given to minorities. I suppose If you see the name you can kind of tell (in reality this is just dumb) what their background is. #2 They think that the children trust the cartoon characters and will do whatever they say. The trouble is a child doesn't trust per se. A child is usually naive and uninhibited but not trusting as an adult would view it, somebody needed to put themselves into a kids shoes there. #3 The Public File rule is antiquated. Is there a good reason there isn't a national database of public files that anyone can access 24/7 online and stations can upload materials to as needed? It would definitely save a lot of paper and trouble.

Sarah Dunlap Burke who had been Acting News Director at WBZ in Boston is joining WLS as Assistant News Director effective August 25th. This fills the hole left when Janet Hundley resigned to be News Director at WTMJ in Milwaukee. http://www.robertfeder.com/2014/07/21/chicago-homecoming-for-abc-7-news-exec/

Chris Wright's first day on-air at WXYZ was today on the 6-7 and 8-10am newscasts.
-
They left no stone unturned on that list, that's for sure. I hope it's fun.
