  1. If WGN is ever going to debut new sports graphics and update the logo, it's not going to be this preseason. They're still on the old look for today's season debut featuring the Cubs and White Sox.

Sidenote: they're using the CHW and CHC abbreviations on the scoreboard, and that looks so weird for a local telecast.

The sports grgaohics get me every baseball season. Hate them with a passion.

  2. I get your point. I don't like seeing some people sitting and some standing (I'm talking to you WBBM, WMAQ, WGN). The desk should, in theory, be big enough to fit everyone. In this case, outside of an election night, four people are not likely going to be sitting at the desk for a long period of time (maybe a couple of minutes at the most).

There is no weather center. That space got eaten away with the remodel and the green screen they use takes up a ton of space. Caplan posted a BTS video on his Facebook page, so you can see it for yourself. There is a space over there however that they could set up a weather desk, like WLS has, if they wanted to. Again, see the video.

I guess the weather set/desk is in the very back of the studio. (According to Jenny's Facebook Live video this morning.)

  3. Historically in years past, it has always been the first Sunday in May. We shall see... with the game, anything is possible I suppose. Can't say I'm holding my breath though.

Saw a promo for the news during the game. Looks like it's still on the temporary set.

  4. Mr. Caplan is feeling funny tonight... here's his Facebook post:

I have some news to share. As of tomorrow, I will no longer be the meteorologist for the Fox 32 morning show starting at 4:30. That's because we are starting a HALF HOUR EARLIER at 4am! Don't miss all the exciting bleary-eyed weather from yours truly!

Sure got some people's attention, including mine.

P.S. - was hoping we'd have a new set by this weekend, guess not. Typical 'FLD.

  5. Just a couple of notes....

Rick Dimaio (former WFLD Chief Meteorologist) is filling in tonight. Unsure if they plan to bring him back into the fold as weekend meteorologist (Tammie's replacement). Strangely enough, he filled in for a few days/weeks when they fired Amy Freeze (his successor) a few years back.

Evan Fitzgerald has joined FOX 35 WOFL/Orlando as a sports anchor/reporter. He spent about 2-3 yrs. at WFLD.

    When did Evan leave?

  6. Dan and Lourdes are anchoring the big show together on this their final day in the morning as a team (I wouldn't expect Lourdes to be in the morning on Monday, at least).

Have replacements been named? If they have been, I've missed something.

  7. Darlene said in a Facebook live stream with Corey this morning that they'll be in the newsroom for 5-6 weeks.

    Gotta be a new set.

And if you watch Dawns Facebook live Jeff says "Full-Blow...." and then she stopped him.

  8. They have a new "studio," if that's what you call it. It's called "Good Day Chicago Studio B." It's a room with a window that over looks the "FOX Plaza" with a table in it so they can do special segments there (i.e. Interview, cooking, etc.).

  9. Feder has a story about Tahman's promotion now. There's also a bit about BEN Bradley (no relation), who is likely to join WGN for a weekday anchor position in the new year. It'll be interesting to see where he fits in... the heir apparent to Steve Sanders? Or could WGN have some bigger things planned (more news?)

Not more news.... please no more news.
