  1. Does anyone(gn heads) know weather WGN was ever allowed to play with the "Worlds Greatest Network" moniker or branding? Ya, ya I know it's not a real network...but was it ever attempted?

WGN means "World'S Greatest Newspaper", FYI

  2. Looks like one of the 4 nightly Two and a Half Men airings is getting bumped starting Monday (hopefully for a full month), as Dan Roan will be hosting the 30 minute "Cubs Nightly" at 6pm (also simulcast on CLTV, but not using the SportsFeed hosts). The show will be preempted, though, if a Cubs game is in-progress.

This could be a trial run of an nightly sports show, just focused on the Cubs, for now.

    My thinking anyway.

  3. Rich King is back in studio tonight to send Bob off, and now for the history montage of Bob's career, narrated by Jackie.

Also present is Karen and Christian. Plus Jackie's family.

Bob to Karen: "Shouldn't you be at work?"

  4. According to Paul Konrad, the weekend morning show will be just 7 to 9. Sean Lewis remains, and he'll be joined by Tonya Francisco.

"Congratulations to Tonya Francisco on being named WGN Morning News Weekend Anchor. Starting Sept 10th, she will join Sean Lewis on the new expanded 7-9am show.

Tonya is delightful and I am sure you will enjoy seeing more of her. Be sure to follow her here on Facebook and on Twitter at @TonyaFrancisco

    Congrats Tonya"

  5. Linda Yu tonight at 10! Been too long since we've seen that. She did the 6 too, been too long for that as well. In fact, it's a marathon day for Linda, anchoring ALL evening newscasts - 4,5,6,7 and 10! I miss this sorta thing. And before all the recent changes, it used to be a somewhat regular occurrence, especially on a Friday night. And because I fear it may be because no one else could do it since everyone is off/and or maybe unavailable, I'm just going to enjoy it since who knows if/when this will ever happen again. My favorite was always when Linda would fill in at 10 when Ron was still there and it was Ron, Linda, Jerry and Mark. Those were the days... it's just not Channel 7 anymore. I'm sure I'll get crap for that, but sorry it's how I feel.

You won't get crap from me!!! I miss Hossa and Judy in the morning, Linda and Sylvia at 11 with Tracy, Alan, Linda, Mike, and JR at 4, Ron, Cheryl, and Jerry at 5, and Ron, Kathy, Jerry, and Mark at 10.

  6. I've heard 6-9 floating around a few times, and considering their weekday time frame and weekend competition, that wouldn't be too unreasonable. That said, a co-anchor, at minimum, will have to be added because I don't think the quasi-CLTV format will work for anything more than an hour.

I have a very strong feeling that there will definitely be news between 7-8 on the weekends, as 7 goes to GMA for an hour.

  7. From CRM:

"In August 2013, FOX Television proudly announced the hiring of Jeff Herndon (pictured) as nighttime news anchor for WFLD-TV/FOX 32, beginning in that role on October 1st of that year with a three-year deal. He replaced Bob Sirott who exitedin September 2013. It appears that FOX is searching for a new male news anchor once again. According to rumors, Herndon does not want to renew his contract with WFLD-TV and is looking for work elsewhere. If Herndon does indeed exit soon, weekend news anchor Scott Schneider would be a likely choice to replace him, with the station finding a new weekend anchor to replace Schneider. Herndon currently anchors WFLD-TV's new 5:00pm and long-running 9:00pm newscasts."

  8. Everyone's acting appalled and surprised but is this not what we've been expecting for a while now?

It's not that I'm surprised that it happened, I'm just disappointed that this is what television news has come to. Like seriously? Promoting someone because she's good looking for ratings? She should EARN her way up by accuracy and not tight dresses.
