What's the point of sending someone to the ESPY's?

Most likely to promote it cause ESPN is out of ABC.

What's with all the freakin exclamation points? It's a little less than I would expect from them... It looks... Small market.

Looks like a FOX thing. However, Fr. Phlaher can be a bit different at times.

Oh my. Did not see this coming at all. Does WLS really need another anchor? I feel like 'MAQ needed Rob much more than ABC7 does, since they don't really have many options for successors to Stafford. But clearly NBC5 must not have agreed, and WLS offered a better deal. This is eerily similar to the meteorologist situation earlier this year; I'm worried someone is going to be the odd man out at WLS.

 

One thing's for sure: It's going to be one of hell of a November sweeps this year, especially between 5 and 7 at 10pm.

We've seen this act by 7 before. Ron still has a few years in him. Alan is likely going to be his successor. Hosea Sanders should be on the lookout this next month or so. (Scott was hired in December, Caplan was let go in Januray)

Yeah the bosses did research and went with it I think... I just wish she fit the powerhouse mold better... She really belongs on a station with a looser format.

Neither do I. She belongs on the weekends. Huge mistake by WLS by letting go of someone who's been there 20+ years.

GMA will have the highest ratings of all time next weekend.

For one, it's summer so they likely want to take off right after GDC is over to do other things. I can't blame them. Second, Corey is often on assignment taping his 'Chicago Kitchens' thingy or whatever it's called. Plus, unless something major is happening, they (and other stations too) really don't need two people.

 

As unconventional as it may seem, having solo anchors is common place with them (whether it's @ Noon or on the weekends). Heck...my DirecTV only list Corey @ Noon and they still list Darlene as a reporter on the web site. They don't care much about being consistent about things.

Knowing how bad The ratings are, it's the smart thing to do and not waste time using two anchors.

Janssen is in again tonight, and Jim's not. Very interesting.

If I'm not mistaken, Jim was/is sick. But this is something to keep an eye on, no doubt. Would love to see new weather people instead of just Ivory, Konrad, and Skilling (plus the occasional McGill)

Mike Janssen is doing a great job on tornado coverage. Wonder why Jim isn't doing it.

FWIW, the sports segment wasn't cut out of the nine o'clock live stream tonight. I don't watch them online enough to know if that's a regular thing now.

 

By the way, Demetrius filled in for Skilling. Starting to wonder if his days are numbered on the 4am shift. Seems like a good arrangement would be to have him handle all of midday, and be the primary backup for Skilling on the evening and 9pm shows.

Who would they use at 4am? Tim McGill? Potentially Mike Caplan?

They should do some more educational/cultural such as cooking or something. And is it just a half hour? Cause politics tonight is at 6:30. Politics tonight should be on GN instead of two and a half men, in my opinion. They should also do Patrick Elwood and Nancy Loo on the weekend morning show, as well as expand it.

Does anyone know if they announced when the new sports show would debut?

Firing Mike finally comes out. Even though it doesn't affect him or his time slot, it still shows hat people actually did stop watching the news completely and switched to NBC5.

The real question is why are we discussing his clothing.
