  1. I think it's only fair that even the higher ups work some holidays/occasions. I'm sure the A-team gets first dibs on what days to take off, but most of the ABC 7 anchors doesn't strike me as the kind of people that don't take one for the team. Anyone remember when Kathy Brock anchored Christmas morning the last time it was on a Sunday, just so Ben Bradley could be home with his new baby? Ron always volunteers to work on Thanksgiving, and Linda Yu usually picks up a holiday or two this time of year. And when you have occasions like Christmas and New Years that tend to be 2-day ordeals, everyone can have a chance to celebrate with their loved ones.

Linda Yu works on the 4th doing all newscasts except the early morning shift.
  2. As time passes, I think Phil will be let go. So Troy should take weekend evenings and become an official employee, while Cheryl is doing weekend mornings, as well as working behind the scenes with the weather team during the week, just as Troy does.

  3. Yeah, I'm really warming up to him, too. He was a little stiff when he first joined the station last year, but has improved in his delivery and demeanor since then.

Now that he's been here a year, they should really make him an "official employee" of ABC. He has a good future here. They could easily be trying him out while Phil is off for these few weeks. With Cheryl Scott expected to join the team, you can tell they're going on the younger side.

  4. Paul Konrad's Facebook post from February:

"Was fired yesterday from WGN's Thanksgiving Day Parade Coverage. They want to go in a different direction... I tried to tell them to just match me up with a professional...not Robin Baumgarten and it will be a zillion times better. They said "No Thanks" @WGNRobin and I hold the record for most firings from Parade Coverage in Chicago Television history (3). Numbers can be misleading..."
