It's based off the 2019/2020 CBS network graphics package. I've recycled the same pieces for some projects.

    Of course you have ;)

I wish more stations would use the package. It looks good and seems easy to utilize. Simple & easy way to give a stations brand into that of CBS.

Because that job can typically be combined with another role. Unlike Meteorology, traffic doesn't require a degree.

I know THEY could do it, but these reporters envelop themselves in city roads and traffic patterns and that benefits the viewers, imo. But, this was obviously a local decision. Surprising that something like this would come from WTHR.

How is this "Tegna-itis"? A lot of TEGNA stations have a traffic reporter. The fact that WTHR dropped theirs obviously was a local decision. It's a rare example of local media evolving and re-thinking dated concepts.

But how is a traffic reporter dated? I though my that was one of THE reasons people watched the morning news.

Interestingly, looks like Tegna has wiped clear their job postings. Only 2 are listed when there are usually dozens. Wonder if it's due to COVID-19 or the acquisition attempts?

I highly doubt it's because of acquisition attempts. Even if they do decide to sell, it could be a year or more before they are officially taken over. They still have to operate.

It could be because of COVID-19, an error, they are moving to a new website, or those positions got filled and they never took them down.

Are you referring to the graphics or just the way 10TV is handling things with using the Tegna package for everything but Face The State? If it's the latter then that "may" have confirmed just about everything that's creating the uncertainty at Tegna's HQ at the moment and maybe perhaps WBNS knows something that we don't.

Regarding the Face the State music, as Weeters said (surprisingly) there is no corporate mandate to use C Clarity. It's just cheaper and easier for the stations to use it, so that's why they all do. I'm guessing they also use it because it is a unique opportunity to try something different in terms if the news music we are used to. WBNS' decision to continue the use of Aerial on Face the State has nothing to do with the fact that Tegna may or may not be sold.

Controversial opinion: I don't hate the graphics on WBNS. The theme, yeah, no, but it looks good enough.

I think the graphics fit them well. Some of the modifications they've done (especially to the L3s) seem a little off...but I'll get used to it. I think they've done a good job with the music, too. It's not like they ditched some legacy package anyway. It was Aerial for crying out loud haha!!

I’ve heard WTHR will be TEGNA’ed by the end of the month. I’ll ask my source for an update.

That's what I've been told, too. The new website and app will launch in early April. My WBNS source wouldn't say outright, but seemingly implied the new stuff is coming soon.

I would imagine they are keeping the music for now. They don't want to overwhelm their viewers with too much change, after all. C-Clarity will probably start to creep into the shows little by little.

I won't be surprised if that happens either. Honestly, MCTYW doesn't work well with the graphics at all. Kind of annoying, actually.

Idk if this has been covered here yet, but Thanh Truong is leaving WWL but he plans to stay put in New Orleans. His final day was today. He is going to launch a True Crime podcast with his wife.

Didn't he JUST move to the Noon newscast not too long ago from the later shows??

Not surprised he's leaving. He effectively got demoted. He was a very strong evening anchor. Disappointed he wont be showing up on New Orleans TV at the moment.

They probably just weren't paying attention and/or didn't get a new mug. They might not even know WKYC has a new logo. No way WKYC is changing the logo back now.

Exactly the problem the industry is facing. Fewer eyeballs means more flash and bang than substance.

And flash isn't what millenials want. Authenticity is what appeals to them.
