The lack of any real competition in the market could be one reason.

...and the updates continue. Anchors are on the interview/sports set. Weather duratrans have been changed to match the graphics package. The main anchor backdrop looks like they might be upgrading to a video wall, but I’m not certain of that.

WDAM looks okay, it could be far worse.  Better than what WLOX has for sure.

Usually, they're one of my "fringe" stations (along with WHLT which comes in more often), but reception is worse this time of year.

Here's hoping WVUE gets something halfway decent.  Bonus points if they work in purple (and put the final nail in WWL's coffin...)

WVUE with the WAVE package would alright with me 👏🏻

  3. KNWA (Rogers/Fayetteville) has received the new graphics that the NBC affiliates are receiving. Also, KFTA (Fort Smith/Fayetteville) received the graphics that the FOX affiliates are receiving. C66C63EF-CA89-4A7A-971D-D76C474DF715.png.ba6c1e45e0899a1278748526424d264c.png

If they are getting a new set it will probably debut with the new Hearst graphics. The news set they have now has been there since 2007 when the primary studio/newsroom/management offices moved to Rogers from Fort Smith and Fayetteville. 40/29 still has a facility in Fort Smith for KHBS.
  5. This is a replacement for the Fayetteville site in the Northwest Arkansas Mall. After this, KFSM plans to update its Fort Smith facility. They are having to do some politics as to where their newscasts will originate full time.

KFSM's news shows come from Fort Smith. KHBS/KHOG has its primary studio at Rogers, and KNWA/KFTA has primary studios at Fayetteville (though both of the latter have Fort Smith facilities as well).

I'd be interested to see which stations rate better in which areas.

And the new facility is literally down the street from down the current Fayetteville studio in the Northwest Arkansas Mall.

When Hearst moved into the Rogers facility they tried continuing broadcasting from Fort Smith and Rogers (once they moved out of the Fayetteville space), but that did not last long. I figure Tribune will phase out newscasts from Fort Smith once the new facility is complete and staff can get moved to the area.

  6. WJTV and WHLT have merged their websites into one, but under the WJTV.com URL. They have a website layout similar to the Nexstar layout. Makes one wonder if Nexstar will merge these two markets (Jackson and Hattiesburg, MS) together under the traditional Nexstar URL they give stations.

WKRG also has that same website layout now as well.

  7. KLFY has been Nexstar-ized. Do they have a Nexstar URL?

KADN had CajunFirst.com, but when Nexstar dropped KADN for KLFY the CajunFirst.com domain was moved to KLFY. It directs you to KLFY.com though.

  8. Radio and television audiences across Jackson, MS were without some television stations and a radio station on this day 20 years ago. WLBT-TV's nearly 2,000' transmitter tower crashed killing three people. WLBT's tower was also shared by WMSI-FM, WMPN-TV and numerous other systems and government agencies. Luckily, WLBT had a back-up 200' transmitter on-site. This would be the second time the station would have to replace the tower with the first crash resulting from a tornado.
