From 1989 to 1990 Storm Field was the chief met at WABC doing the weather on the weekday 6 and 11pm newscast with Sam Champion doing the weather on the 5pm newscast, Art McFarland in addition to co-anchoring eyewitness News this Morning did the weather and Bill Evans did the weather on the weekend newscasts. As far as I know Art McFarland was not a met. Just a weathercaster. In 1990 Storm Field left WABC and Sam Champion took over his weather duties which included being chief met a position he held till 2006 when Lee Goldberg took over for him. Bill Evans continued doing weekend weather until 1992 when he moved over to Eyewitness News this Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon. Bill is the only person to have done the weather for Eyewitness News at Noon. Triva question. Who were the first co-anchors for Eyewitness News at Noon? I will revival the answer Monday afternoon.

Sam isn't a met either is he?

It is mostly, but I would like to mention, as an exception, that WCAU's "Chief" Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz is on at 11am and 4pm (along with 6pm, which of course is where "Chiefs" are usually seen on-air), while Sheena Parveen is on at 5 and 11pm, so it doesn't happen everywhere. (that is only one exception I can think of though.)

i thought hurricane got exiled to mornings?

  3. I need to solve a mystery and am not want to create a thread about it cause my dad and i are arguing that Bill Evans had held the title of Chief Meterologist (he hasn't right) so can someone who is an eyewitness news superfan name me the chief meterologist of the station from when bill arrived in 1989 till when lee was named chief in 2006

I do think the third story is a good idea, I hadn't thought of that. Ultimately, most of the people complaining online are saying that Goudie is dragging the one flight attendant's name through the ground, but I'd say that's only because her posing sparked the controversy. And, while the complaining public claims it's a right of passage, if the employer doesn't want it, then it's still wrong.

i kind of agree with those people cause he went ran a story by someone of the PC crowd who believes someone was doing something NOT "normal". I mentioned earlier Goudie is getting his medicine from flight attendants for taking a selfie during an emergency depressurization and was not wearing the mask correctly. But i dont know which is a worse this or the infamous meg baker's story of trains speeding but they were going normal speed.

  5. chick goudie is getting reamed for being a hyprocrite for crucifying a flight attendant for doing the industrial right of passage (taking a picture in the engine cowling) while he took a selfie during an emergency depressurization (as he rightfully should be scolded) and not wearing the mask the right way.

  6. WTH is going on at WCBS?! this "reporter" Meg Baker who came from that circus that replaced the my 9 news did a hatchet story whipping up hysteria that commuter trains are going too fast. Secacus territory is 90 mph, She should have talked to an FRA certified Engineer not a civil engineer. This girl is like the 2nd coming of Marcia Kramer

WABC should tread carefully. Michelle is a talent and while I'm sure she is happy and grateful right now you never know. She should be getting the morning show next if/when Lori leaves or is bumped to nights. If not...I've always thought her to be the perfect fit to replace Rosanna on GDNY when she retires way down the line.

About Michelle ... Who says she wants a weekday anchor spot if it opens? Some reporters like the idea of reporting, getting to go out in the field and not being tied to Ana major desk 5 days a week. Not everyone we see on TV aspires to be an anchor. Look at Sandra Bookman. She's been anchoring weekends since the 90s. Do you think she would still be at Channel 7 if she felt like she was passed over when Lori, Liz, Sade and now Shirleen were brought on board?

WABC is right Michelle has been on weekends since i can remember heck i remeber Joe torres has one of her co anchors , besides i think if they would want to break up the weekend AM team it would be a bad idea

also when was the last time they placed someone in the noon newscast was used to groom a replacement besides Sade replacing Roz, cause i remember the transition from the great BIll Beutel to Bill Ritter, Ritter was on the weekends then Ritter took the 11 pm newscast then took all of Beutel's broadcasts while Bill Beutel took on the senior correspondent's role till he retired in 03.

like for example didn't Liz move off the 11 pm and take on the 4 and 6 to be closer with her daughter?

  9.

Correct. Roz wanted the 11pm slot after Diana moved from 6 & 11 to co-anchor the 5pm when Robb Hanrahan left. WABC opted to hire Liz Cho instead and Roz let them know she would be leaving. So, Sade was brought on first as noon anchor (displacing Lori Stokes for a few months - which she initially was not happy about) and then moved to 5pm alongside Diana once Roz said farewell.

EDIT WHOOPS CAN this be deleted?

  10.

It's likely that one of the main anchors are leaving. If you're an evening anchor in a big market like Philadelphia, you don't come to New York just to anchor at noon without the promise that you'll be anchoring a more prominent show. For example, Sade came from Baltimore with the promise of filling a bigger spot once Roz left. David came back from Chicago with the promise of anchoring the new 4pm show.

So... Looks like Lori, Diana, Sade or Liz may be saying goodbye and some point soon.

when sade came and roz left to go downtown to channel 2 roz only had the 5 pm show right and never had the 11 pm show (which she lost)? cause i remember diana had the 11 pm show and when did they take her off, i left ny in 2003
