  1. Yeah, this idea that Tegna is rolling out the red carpet for a vet anchor is crap. He's doing commentary and is probably not getting paid a whole lot to do so. Tegna has pushed out far more longtime anchors than they've brought in, that's for sure. Seems like half the people at KING are like nobodies now. (Hip nobodies)
  2. Yep. If you're wondering why so many Hearst stations have primetime newscasts on freakin' MeTV (particularly on KETV and KCCI, both of which reach Iowa) or the Raycom stations with news on Bounce...this is almost certainly why. Politicians will spend money on anything that's a newscast.
  3. Yikes. Red does NOT suit KMBC.
  4. It's really sad. Thank God for Hearst and Cox.
  5. Scripps is like trying to be Tegna-lite in that regard.
  6. If it were a Gari piece it probably would have been included in that master list. Plus...Gari made such liberal use of elements from other packages that there would have been some cut in this that was part of a Gari "template" (searching for a better word here).
  7. This might be totally out there...but is there a chance that the WFAA 1992 Theme was done by Chris Crane? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=IYsTaLA8cSU;t=11 Something about the instrumentation in this close says "Crane" to me. As a counter-argument...it's otherwise unlike his other work. Who knows.
  8. It's called Nexstar...
  9. Good riddance. Seems like Nexstar was getting less cute with them even before they started phasing them out. LasVegasNow/MyNDNow/etc actually sounded like news websites versus the goofy "Xproud/Xmatters/weareX.com"
  10. Interesting. Wonder if there were plans to use it further or if it was just solely to be used as a topical cut.
  11. Sounds like WMC was a brief user of 2 NewsTeam by Chris Crane. Anyone have any more clips from this era? Seems like they used it with Turn To News. Not sure if they ever used 2 NewsTeam for the opens...anyone have any?
  12. A little over the top (the KXTV thing is splitting hairs though) but I can't say I disagree. Look at the results. WFAA, once untouchable, now isn't. WWL, never-lost-in-decades, lost for the first time. The mass talent exodus, both on and off camera, at their legacy stations has been sad to see. It's no coincidence that many of their formerly-dominant stations have gone off the rails. They're all about letting the social media tail wag the dog on news and hiring cheap MMJs to lug around a camera and churn out "content." I feel like Tegna has made a business decision to forgo high ratings and instead run #2 stations at a bottom-dollar pricepoint, keeping the margins healthy. It's sad.
  13. Yeah, I wonder if we'll see a two-tiered system where the consolidated Big 3 stations keep the stupid URLs but the solo stations either keep their MG website names or revert to their old ones. Although, interesting to note, KTVX kept "Good4Utah." Wonder if it's up to each station.
  14. Apples and oranges though. The network newscasts are under no pretense of being local.
  15. Has anyone ever heard "2 NewsTeam" by Chris Crane? It's been listed on NMSA forever, but without a sample...
  16. Spanish-language TV had some pretty unique and cool 1990s themes. Anyone know who did this or the "Univision Affiliates 1990s Theme"?
  17. Going off a post on the WLNE 1993 theme... Maybe Doppler could also be responsible for the KWTV 1993 theme? *shrug*
  18. Any clues on who did this piece for KWTV? There's a less synthy version on the NMSA.
  19. What's sad is that Citadel thinks these graphics are state of the art...
  20. Anyone know who did the WBZ 1995 theme? I affectionately refer to it as the "disco" theme.
  21. Sexy little 80's-dance-club-meets-news sounding early 90's theme from WILX. Production music? Any clues?
  22. My understanding is that it's historically been 1. KING 2. KOMO 3. KIRO.
  23. No doubt has to do with Sinclair's tilt to the right on KOMO and Tegna's absolute gutting of KING's veteran talent. The Tegna buyouts were the epitome of penny wise and pound foolish.
  24. As far as still owned by the original family signing it on and owning it... Add: KSTP (Hubbard) WBNS (Wolfe) KOBI/KOTI (Smullin) WISC (Murphy [burns]) *KRGV (I think it's been owned by the Manships the entire time) You can also count WGEM, but Quincy, to me, has expanded a bit beyond the point of a mom-and-pop operator despite being a family company. Same goes for original Cox/Hearst stations. And, although, not since "Day 1"...WCAX has been owned by the Martin family for all but the first four years of its existence.
  25. That's the face of a man who's sold his soul... Interestingly, the "content concerns" tab doesn't appear on some of the Sinclair news-share stations' sites (though their actual news content varies -- some have none [WRLH/WPGH/KSAS], some are a complete ripoff of their partner station's content [WMSN])... http://kdsm17.com/ http://fox47.com/ http://wpgh53.com/ http://foxrichmond.com/ http://kbsi23.com/ http://foxkansas.com/ ...except WDKY: http://foxlexington.com/ Is anyone familiar with how the SBG news-share arrangements work? The partnering stations must have content control...even on the ones branded as a standalone show. Is WDKY/WKYT's different?
